All good Michael, we need results from a solid player who swings driver 92-100 ish. What peak height then? Spin? Would a 6-iron work for us - or are we forced in to hybrids at 26 degrees of loft?
I tested both, and the clear winner was the T200s based on the looks and feel. You can't go wrong with either model, the Titleist looks, and performance are pure class.
T200 the better club for me by far. Looks much more like a players iron at address and feels much better too. Just wish Titleist would get rid of the shiny chrome on it and keep it in with the 100 and 150. Other than that it's a fantastic club.
Funny how the price of a set of irons has gone through the roof for the big names and there are only 7 irons. We used to get a 3 iron and a sand wedge included!!
@discr1709 I play Sub70 699 Pro V2. When I flush my 7i at 85mph I get a beautiful high flight that carries 170. Sound and feel are fantastic. I've hit both P790 and T200 a lot. The advantage is more forgiveness. If I miss on the toe for example, the Sub 70's lose 15yrds. The same miss with TM/Titleist will lose 3-5 yrds. That's a whole club difference. I've only had the Sub 70's for about 2 years but seriously thinking about switching. I normally don't switch clubs often, but I don't see the Sub 70's being my gamers for the next 10 years.
I think the T series look cheap with the back insert. I play 790s so I may be biased but just doesn’t look like the Titleist are gonna hold up and look good for as long.
I play Mizuno MP18's, but i went in specifically last week to test the new P790's because I am getting older and I can feel myself having to work harder with my blades. I knew I would gain distance, but what I was blown away with was the feel wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but the dispersion. I was doing everything from hitting up on it to heeling it to off the toe and I just couldn't make a horrible shot. The dispersion left to right was amazing. I love the look too, so well yeah I got some beautiful Mizuno's for sale now lol. The T200 is a good looking club too, but I wasn't able to test them at my fitter.
I 100% agree with your sentiments about the feel, and “forgiveness” of the P790’s. Yesterday, I was able to pull off 1.7’ off of center, hitting with a Club Path: - 5.4 & Face Angle: -2.5; “closed face”. I went in for a fitting for the T200’s yesterday, and got a few shots off in with the p790’s at the very end….and I was convinced I needed a full fitting session with them. The new heads come to my shop next week. I’m toats excited!
It literally just comes down to personal feeling and what club looks the best to you. Cant go wrong with either I like the T200s a bit more. Hoping to buy them for next summer and get rid of my way to thick Ltdx irons
Ping I230’s. Blows both of these outta the water and its not a close race. 230’s are ridiculously consistent and easy to hit. A major problem with the “players distance” irons is “fliers”, and you will have them. If you need the extra distance go with a “players” iron and order them in power spec, far more consistent.
I got fit at Club Champion and the P790s blew my mind. Tried Titleist, Mizuno, Srixon, and Miura but P790s edged them all out. I’d say the T150s felt the best of them all to me but performance was simply better on Taylormade.
Taylormade absolutely need to get rid of the TUNGSTEN stamped on the back of the blade. It’s totally redundant now, unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know all the top iron models have tungsten perimeter weighting. The P790 win the looks race over the T200, but the T100 & 150 (albeit in a different category) shit it in for looks over any other iron right now. I wish Titleist would just lose the TT AMT stock shafts and offer some better stock shafts (KBS Tour I’m looking at you..) and we have a winner. And yes, I’m aware you can go to a fitter and get any shaft you like, I play KBS Tour in my 718 AP2s. Great review..!!
Good video, it’s tough to choose really I think but I really liked what txg did in their testing especially when it came to the short irons. The p790 pitching wedge is 45 degrees while the t200 is 43 degrees. That’s a sizable difference that could affect your wedges and distances.
That 4100 outlier on the 790 would bring spin up even more. Id def gonwith the more spin club and the fact that with a little weaker loft the 790 still kept up.
I prefer the p790 because I cannot deal with the 43 degree pitching wedge in the t200. That throws off all my wedge gaps and lofts. P790 feels better to me as well. Titleist is just too low spinning and really isn't playable to me. Finally, the Titleist is more expensive.
Both nice looking clubs ,but it’s the same old thing with these new clubs ,jacking the lofts and just printing a 7 iron rather than 6 on the sole .I prefer my 7 iron Mizuno loft of 34 degrees,they just flow better down to the wedges ,I know a well hit shot will travel the same distance every time .
Really looking at a T200/T150 combo. T200 4,5. Then T150 6-P. Scratch golfer with decent speed (7 iron 89 on trackman) but my 4 and 5 launch a bit low. Currently gaming Srixon ZX7’s.

@@nigelcobalt I loved the ZX7 but my fitter wouldn't let me have them 🙂 ... really hoped I'd be ok in them 8-w and the feel was awesome but the spin numbers and overall efficiency wasn't where the wanted them so ZX5 won. At the bottom end I tried the ZX4 and the their driving utility 4i ... the utility iron won that battle UNBELIEVABLY easily. Wonder if you'd see much difference between the z785 and ZX7 ... would be interesting to know

For anyone looking at these 2 irons, the T200 is not a game improvement iron, it’s difficult to hit even for a good ball striker. I consider myself a good ball striker and I found the T200 to be difficult to hit, even more difficult than some of the blades I’ve hit. Don’t buy them without trying them first, it could just be me but I did not get along well with those and I think generally they’re marketed towards a worse player than me. The P790’s are easy to hit, fly straight as an arrow, and I didn’t struggle with spin. I prefer a club with a little more workability but I found those to be very forgiving and generally a great iron, I could game them 100% and they’d probably save me a stroke or 2 if I’m being honest with myself.
Strange comment pal. The T200 is absolutely not hard to hit. I had a very thorough fitting this week which included P790 and T200. In the end, the Srixon ZX5 MkII edged out the T200 to replace my current '19 P790s. Final decision was so so close and based largely on turf interaction with Srixon being a bit better for my slightly steeper swing. T200 was insanely easy to hit ... sadly for me, the T150 was not as easy to hit, but it certainly won hands down in the looks category!!😍

I shared my experience getting fit, the T200 is not a forgiving iron in my opinion, it’s far closer to the T100 and T150 than it is the T300/350. I’m not sure how good your reading comprehension is but “Don’t buy them without trying them first, it could just be me but I did not get along well with those” is pretty cut and dry.

I also know that everyone is different, and I stated precisely that one should try before they buy for that very reason. I’ve played blades, I played 2nd Gen P790’s, P770’s, Mizuno JPX and MP’s. I got fit recently and did not get along with the T200’s and I consider myself a good ball striker and a good iron player, I shared my experience. Online reviews are not to be trusted, they’re usually better players and/or are working a business relationship receiving clubs for free to do reviews. If they tear it to shreds the new products will stop flowing, in my opinion anyways. If forgiveness is what you’re looking for the P790 is better, if you’re not a great ball striker your dispersion will be smaller in both directions with the P790 in my opinion. With all that being said I’d recommend the Srixons over both. Pretty weird we both landed on Srixon in our separate fittings, at least we can agree on Srixon.

The Srixons in my fitting simply performed the best, albeit only marginally over the T200. And that was consistent across shafts. Now to wait 3 weeks for them to be ready!!
I’d love to see a three way comparison with another competitor. 15 shot group where you snake through the clubs so they all get “warm” shots. Also, wonder why in the B roll for the 790 you have shots of the previous generation. As someone who doesn’t necessarily subscribe to conspiracy, I'm sure it was an honest mistake, but you do seem to enjoy the T200. I’m sure I’ve overthought this. Well, in honesty, tour pro’s are only playing T200 long iron (ie. 3 iron) to blend with a T100 or blade set. Same for P790. I’d be shocked to see any tour pro playing a full set of T200’s.
If you aren’t the ball striker that he is, if you can’t play the T100’s, you’re going to struggle with those T200’s. If you want forgiveness and are only looking at these 2 irons, the P790 is by far a more forgiving iron. Check out the Srixon Zx4 while you’re at it.
...and, of course, we all know that Titleist provides their fitters with demo clubs that perform worse than competitors because they don't know what they're doing🤦♂
Just had a fitting with t200 and t 350s vs what i am using now which is ping g25s senior flex ted dot. Well guess what? My g25s performed better in all aspects. The fitter put me in soft flex etc. Technology did not help me. Your thoughts

Just got fitted for the New T200’s, they are going to be the same lofts as the T100’s higher launch and spin is what I wanted over the old T200’s.

Agree. Plus the Titilest clubs you can blend easily between their T Series range. TM only with the 770.

Out of interest how would you compare the forgiveness in the two? Would they be more or lesss forgiving than a JPX923 forged?

I went t150 full bag. The t200 just felt different too much. I didn't want the different feel on the top end of the bag.

Lots of T200’s on tour. Can’t say the same for the P790. Titleist is the clear winner according to the world’s best players.
Well, in honesty, tour pro’s are only playing T200 long iron (ie. 3 iron) to blend with a T100 or blade set. Same for P790. I’d be shocked to see any tour pro playing a full set of T200’s.

I had the P790. When my swing improved, I was sending the 7 iron 190-200. I sold them to play blades.
For some reason, that iron looks way too short for you. I know you are a tall guy , but that one looks particularly junior in your hands. Odd.
