Dope video, but a few things to tackle. 1. (2:57) Icon was never a sequel, nor affiliated with the vendetta universe. 2. (2:10) The first game did have VERY famous rappers on there. The roster was just restricted to exclusively Def Jam artist (even Dabo and S Word were signed under Def Jam Japan). Hence my next bullet point... 3. (5:44) Not all of rappers in FFNY were Def Jam artist. Fat Joe, Busta Rhymes, David Banner, Ice-T, Mobb Deep, Xzibit, amongst many others were never signed under the label. So the fan concepts aren't so farfetched. 4. (19:36) DMX has been trying to disassociate with Def Jam for years. His last album with the label (Grand Champ) was released in Sep, 2003 (one year before the release of FFNY and 5 months after Vendetta), so I'm gonna assume it was during FFNY's development and possibly wanted nothing to do with the project since his contract officially ended with the release of that album. A new game would be amazing, but only if Syn Sofia (formally known as Aki Corp) lead the development of the game, but that's gonna be a VERY tall order for ANY publisher.
@@khristian625 Maybe now, but not back then. UMG didn't have that many labels acquired at the time. Back them, Busta Rhymes' parent label was BMG/RCA music group, Fat Joe's parents label was WMG, Mobb Deep was under SME, etc. So while UMG is nearly the Disney of music today, that wasn't the case in 2004.
The true shame of it is; just for the lisencing issues alone - BECAUSE of all the famous faces and their songs, we will never be able to officially get a remaster at this point. They could remake the game - probably with newer artists if EA had any conceivable interest in doing that, but they won't. It would be a real bastard to try to get everything to pan out as far as getting the artists to agree again to allow the use of their images and music. In the end it would cost WAY too much to be worth it, from a business standpoint. Which sucks, because this game is literally the only fighting game I ever played that stands strong enough as one to be called just as much a legitimate RPG. (Besides, where else am I gonna score Carmen Elektra or Lil Kim? o.O)
One thing you forgot to mention was the cut audios which there's many voice lines and audio cut from the gamw but still present in game files. Such as TRAIN_KILL_MALE and TRAIN_KILL_FEMALE as when a fighter gets rammed by the train, you could hear the fighter screaming and bones breaking
I actually tried looking for them. I’m not kidding you, I spent 3 hours looking for the audio files. Maybe I wasn’t looking at the right place. I really wanted to include those audio clips
I've thought Lil Flip also have Wrestling as well as a Fighting style but I might be wrong and also DMX had explained why he did'nt want to be in FFNY its an interview and also R.i.p to DMX,Prodigy and Baby Chris and I still play this game till this day on my TH-cam channel and I've made crazy creations in this game and also nice video.
Okay, thank you for covering the game, majority of those cut content except the levels, were found by me. Thanks for putting the pictures there, you should've also put S-Word Portrait he has. The Lil Flip MA, is finished. That CC Build has SF & KB, hence why he has those Punch Strings. Lil Flip is an Odd Character. The only person who has an Unfinished and unused moveset is DMX, since it's still in both The Demo & Alpha build files. There's alot more cut content that I didn't get to, including Online Play and different minor cutscenes changes.
Yooooo Def Jam Iceberg? Goes to show you how a community can still keep a game like this alive! It's a shame that the game we do not speak sucked ass ruin (besides the likeness being used of the real rappers) its name. Who knows maybe in the future (calling it a huuuuuggggeee stretch) there is a slimmer of hope it might returned.
This game defined my love for fighting games. I’m glad there’s still hype around it. Not to mention how there are literal tournaments based around this game too. Wished I’d covered that in the video.
Facts: there's 2 cut audios called TRAIN_KILL_MALE.wav TRAIN_KILL_FEMALE.wav that it's still on the game files of the game as it's a sound of the Train Station KO This sound features male/female pain screaming and bone breaking but for some reason it's unused. Facts 2: in the game files there's also a cut chain from NBA street. Probably unused due to the hardware limit. Probably you could get the chain when you have a save from the PS2 game nba street

To point 3: They weren't signed to Def Jam, but they WERE signed to labels owned by the Universal Music Group, which owned Def Jam.

Masa in intro actually say "Hajime Ora!" In the most gibberish way more then all of mortal kombat characters
Little flip moves being unfished but being one of the best characters is crazy

I know DMX had to do what he had to do.. but him not being on FFNY?! Is CRIMINAL...
I KNOW RIGHT?!
😮 Oh wow, I never thought of the D-Mob and Suge Knight's comparsion.

Def Jam Fight For NYC and Vendetta has a Wikipedia and it talks about the fake character.

Where is the Lil Flip interview about why he didn't have wrestling?
