there are a lot of things as a fan fiction reader (and writer) that I have heard of. deepening the kiss is kinda like pulling your bodies closer together and feeling the initial drive of the kiss. it's more of a direction you take before you start making out. Also like "their tongues fought for dominance" is a way to make the reader more visualize what exactly is happening. I have seen those kinds of phrases before. Others that I can't think of right now but it is just a way for the writers to add more detail but not too much detail to the writing. it is just for the visualization for the reader and it adds some sort of special effect to the reading. It also happens a lot when someone has just started writing and they are probably coming from other fanfics that they have read and thought they enjoyed the writing style and took a mix of different writing styles (which is kinda what I do). Those kinds of phrases are found in fan fiction and in actual books. but everyone has their own style and phrases that they use for example this one Drarry fanfic I read the person who wrote it kept using the word "Akimbo" over and over but it gave a little touch and special effect to the story and it turned out really good. like I said it is for visualization and detail more than anything, you are welcome.
