    Another great episode. I don't want your trip to end! Enjoying every episode and learning lots. Thanks to both of you. when we lock in and out of Cardiff barrage on our lm27 we always secure on the centre cleat first, this gets us secured quickly with no stepping off. On one occasion our new crew tied off on the bow first and we did a full 180 degree turn in the lock. Very embarrassing as the barrage control asked us to go out to sea backwards. LM27s kind of do their own thing in reverse.. yes the bow thruster was put to good use. Thanks again for what you are doing it's great viewing.

      Hi Ed thanks for your kind words. Think midships cleat would be first choice next time followed by stern cos as you say can always fix the bow with the thruster. Agree about the reverse thing mind of their own. Regards mike

    Lassoing......
    I'm a great advocate of midships line first! You can motor fwd or reverse to bring in the whole ship before getting the 2nd breast line on the end that needs it most. So prepare 3 lassos.
    Also a midships is great to lasso an end of (esp. short) finger cleat and drive inwards on, but be conservative with the length for obvious reasons.....you can always ease it later to lengthen it.
    Also, there's docking sticks out there.....but I've never gotten around to try any.

    • @sailingcosiloveit
      @sailingcosiloveit  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Ratus will be having ago on a pontoon with tide at the weekend so will be trying all kinds of scenarios, will let you know which works out best. Will start with the midships and go from there.

    It’s been great watching your trip from my perspective as a twice a year, fair weather flotilla sailor. It would be great if you could add a bit of commentary about the places that you visited. Not suggesting a shoreside travel blog - but it would be good to know what your mooring fee was, what was the food and drink like etc. Anyway, I do enjoy your commentary even without the added bits. Good luck on your last leg.

    Thanks for that Mike, I was getting withdrawal symptoms, waiting for more adventure on your next section. You're very close to home at Douglas - it only took 4 hours to Llandudno pier when Ringo was working on the Manx fleet between Douglas - Llandudno - Liverpool. CU soon Dave. (P.S. The Loaf has been shut all last week - perhaps they couldn't pay the staff without your money coming in?)
