    I have a dance instructor for who told me that it’s not possible to do pivot turns socially, and that they’re only done during choreographies. Is this true?

    • @EgilsSmagris
      @EgilsSmagris  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for interesting question. Social dancers and social dancing styles differ. I think that one pivot or natural spin turn is possible for social dancing if both dancers know these movements.

    How do you keep the balance when you do the continuous pivot turns? I guess we’ll just have to do it ...practice practice practice.

    • @EgilsSmagris
      @EgilsSmagris  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You start with balance in small amount of Turn and then gradually turn more until 1/2 Turn per weight transfer or step

      SenPin TravMom To keep your balance, keep your body inline, keep your knees bent even more than normal almost in a squatting position, don’t do any rising during the pivots- you can add rise when you have balance, keep your left side very strong as strong as you make it, make sure you spot with your head, practice against a wall use it for balance, practice by your self and as slowly as you can and speed up as your balance improves. Have a look at “brocketteambrocket”. For more technique.

    What is the difference between natural pivot turn and natural spin turn?

    • @EgilsSmagris
      @EgilsSmagris  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Natural Pivot Turn consists of first four steps on Natural Spin Turn. There is small difference in Lady's footwork in fourth step: in Natural Pivot Turn - HTH (Heel Toe Heel); in Natural Spin Turn - HT (Heel Toe).

    • @EgilsSmagris
      @EgilsSmagris  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pivot is turning on ball of one foot, at same time keeping other foot in CBMP (forward or backward).

      To pivot is to spin on one axis like a top.
