I have a professional ELM disc resurfacing machine. The secret to making GameCube games work is this: only use the #2 setting. If the disc has heavy scratches, run it thru the #2 setting as many times as needed, however after each run the disc needs to be rotated in the 3” CD holder before the next run. The 3” holder has holes that will warp the disc if you use the 3-5 settings. Light sands and rotating the disc in the holder will prevent those holes in the holder from making “bow” points. If you get the bow points you can literally see waving after a heavy sanding. If you have a disc that won’t work you previously had resurfaced, re-run it with the #2 method I mentioned and the game will probably start working again

Also the laser is usually the culprit when your games arent reading. Its either you replace the laser all together or take the disc assembly out and turn the potentiometers to make the laser more powerful and use up the rest of its lifespan. You would need an Ohm meter to know if you turn the pot the correct way. The gc was built so compact that its a pain to disassemble reassemble if you want to fully clean it out and put new thermal pads. 😅 luckly its just the laser that didnt age well.

I sold my Gamecube games when I was a kid upgrading to a 360 and I still kick myself for it every time I think about it.

My thing is how hard it is to get accessories for it. Forget the GBP or modem, I’m talking controllers, wires, memory cards etc.

gamecube is a good console and it as some good games but i dont think i will collect for it. i held on to my zelda twilight princess for it because i want to get back the console but when i check on the disc it started stripping
