  • This past winter, the recoil spring broke on my Coleman Powermate 4000 generator. Since it's over 30 years old, finding replacement parts is difficult. I enjoy tinkering and discovering different ways of doing things...and with some online research, I found this great method to start my generator using my cordless drill! It took me only 30 minutes of work and cost less than $10!!
Thanks to all who have tinkered before me :) In the words of Sir Isaac Newton, "If I have seen further it is only by standing on the shoulders of giants."
    Project list:
    7/8" star socket: $5.00
    1/4" driver to 3/8" socket adapter: $3.00
18v Dewalt cordless drill: in my tool box
Unibit (knockout bit) 7/8'' - 1 1/8": in my tool box
A job well done: priceless!! :)
