Loquats are California natives! I love eating jams and jellies on all kinds of breads. Loquats are unique late spring / early summer fruits that are so delicious and refreshing. In this video, I talk about loquats and share how to preserve them in this compote recipe. I do this all naturally, and without any artificial ingredients or flavors.

Ashley I live in South Africa this used to be my childhood fruit absolutely beautiful whilst it is green you could pickle them in vinegar or in a spicy way.

Oh my goodness, how awesome! I didn't know these grew there, but it makes sense because South Africa has the right climate for it!! Thanks for the wonderful advice, that sure sounds delicious 😊

    This recipe looks amazing.
I will do it next year when I will have the loquat on my tree. Around May.
Do you keep it in the fridge?
Yesterday I baked a cheese cake and I added some loquat jam I made. Delicious!!

Hi Irit, thanks so much for sharing this! A cheesecake with loquat jam sounds simply incredible 😊 May is the perfect time, yes. I do like keeping mine in the fridge so I can make it last as long as possible, but if it's air-tight, it doesn't have to stay in the fridge.
