I love my ‘82 911 SC Coupe loaded. Yes, I’m a Boomer (barely) and an old lady, now. My story: I saw my first Porsche in the flesh in my hometown in the late 70’s. I remember it like it was yesterday. I said to my father (R.I.P.) and my brother, “Some day, I will own one of those.” My father and my brother laughed at me. In 1995, I got mine used after saving for 7 years. It wasn’t vintage, then, but it was so much fun to drive. I can tell you that driving the vintage ones is a physical experience that is really fun. Modern cars insulate you from the connection to the road and the machine. Having an oil-cooled, rear engine is its own experience. I have gone 145 in it around curves where I started to lose the back end. It is a most beautiful machine and well-constructed. I will be working on mine for most of next year to sell it in it’s full glory, because I am now so arthritic (early inset osteoarthritis) that it is difficult for me to drive a manual transmission. I need my knees replaced and my toes fused and more removal of thumb and wrist bones (left hand done). I try not to cry about the surgery and my beloved 911. It’s been my friend for 26 years-my other car( a GTI) I’ve had for 15 years. I can have this model to remember Mein Schmerz. Perhaps, after surgery, I can still drive it (I shouldn’t give up)? FYI, I’m a Yank and drive German cars. Love to my friends across the pond in the UK and Europe!

Welp, here it is. The closest Lego has gotten to make me buying one of their sports car models. I'm not really a fan of this line, I more like using some of their basic framework to build cars of my own, as I'm a big fan of Lamborghini, Bugatti, Maserati, McLaren, Alfa Romeo, and Lotus and not really a fan of Technic models, so I'll probably never get the cars I actually really want in this scale, but MAN I am a fan of the Porsche 911. The 911 is one of those timeless designs that will just make me fall in love with it over and over and over again. I've loved the 900 lines all the way back when I played with the old figure of Jazz from G1 Transformers in the Martini Racing livery based on the 935 Turbo. But as I got older, the 911 really stuck out in my heart, and the model appears to be based on either a 1978 or 1980 Porsche 911, which the 1980 Turbo just so happens to be one my favorite generation for the car, as it's tough to tell without the auxiliary lights flanking the front license plate (If they were inset I'd call it the 78, but if they were those really nice boxy lights I'd call it the 1980). But I love this car and I love this design, and I'm going to have to think long and hard on whether I'm going to drop the cash to bring this model home.

Absolutely don't like the taillights being orange while the front ones are transparent.
As if Lego couldn't do transparent ones if they really wanted.

I was curious about this detail too. I went back and looked at a lot of pictures to see if there was some specific intentional reason for changing the color for the back and I can't find anything, super solid, in a certain light, there is color tone change, but it's exaggerated a bit on the model.

Why is that you may find weird?... because all of these pieces are underneath the car... they aren't gonna be visible most of the time... and they also give a variety of pieces in random colors for easier access to specific parts without having to separately buy them online
