Paid $8000 for my 03 Limited 4x4 sequoia. Pristine. 3yrs ago. 133k, one owner, fully dealer serviced.
Now at 165k, everything works, except antenna.
Already bought a replacement radiator and waterpump/timing belt kit at the beginning of Covid. Doing rear brakes this weekend.
At my age of 70, this will likely be my last vehicle. I love it.

The secret BoF Toyota SUV everyone forgets. It's not a status symbol like Land Cruiser. It's not the Toyota fanboy darling like the 4Runner. It's not the future classic like the FJ Cruiser. It quietly does it's job hauling trailers, hauling people, and hauling stuff without fanfare.
I've had my '02 for 7 years now. It has 375k miles on it. Paid $3700 for it. Did all the maintenance, fixes, and a few mods, so I'm probably $10k all in so far. Fuel mileage is the biggest gripe, but that's balanced by savings everywhere else.
Don't be scared by changing transmission fluid. I've changed and flushed mine several times, and it did improve the shifting a bit. Same thing for the diffs and transfer case fluid changes: 4x4 engagement improved and everything was smoother.

Can’t agree more! Ahh yes, I did do the trans drain and fill when I got it first. Might do it again now before the winter along with the diffs!

I'm leery of trans fluid replacement, mine shifts fine. I never tow. Just old fart putting around .
