The Mezco in pics looks amazing. But how long has it been? 2-3 years? So why not give this a go especially with Joker to arrive. Yeh, it's a bit tall and it's not a perfect figure. But I may stick with this. Then I get one for his new suit from the Flash movie from a SHF, Mafex or Mezco.
Theres a good chance they will make a Keaton Bats, especially as he will appear in the Flash movie next year. Although he may wear a new suit. Who knows, maybe they will do the 89 line at some point.
The review I’ve been waiting for. I think I’m going to end up getting this. It’s not great. But the presentation is very solid. I particularly like the base it comes with. Overall, it seems like an ok fill in for the HT in my opinion. Especially if you don’t have any Keaton Batman in your collection. I do have to say that the cowl looks bares way likeness to his look in Batman Returns.
Jones looks decent but Neca Batman I think is still the best most accurate Keaton no one seems to get his face right Neca I think did the best job so far
Yes, the NECA still stands strong today! They have some very good sculpts, even ones made many years ago. Terminator, Robocop, Turtles, Rocky, Back to the Future just to name a few.
I just got this guy and I’m actually quite surprised how much I like him. I’m seriously lacking Keaton Batman stuff (Keaton will forever and always be MY Batman as I seen 89 in theaters at 6 years old and that feeling never left me) and with the new Keaton Batman movie (let’s face it, no one is gonna see it for Ezra Miller lol) hitting soon tells me any and all Keaton Batman merch is going to go up in price. Yes I know McFarlane will be putting out new figures (my hope is he does 89 and Returns too..)but still. I managed to snag this guy brand new for 60 dollars because I failed to achieve a preorder for Mezco 89 and I’m not about to pay the after market price for that and the Neca 1/4 scale is a bit too large for my display area.. and the 7 inch Neca figure is around the same price as the 1/4 scale. I think I’m going to do some customization tho.. perhaps remove the logo from the cowl.. and I’ve seen where people removed the undersuit and just glued the armor pieces on that for better articulation… not sure if I’m willing to go that far but we will see I guess. Faces aren’t bad. They’re sort of Keaton at certain angles and I feel unless you’re super picky (like we are haha) you probably will think it looks just like him. I’d love to find some custom headsculpts for it. Seems like I’m coming up with nothing tho, I’m good with custom painting and cape making but when it comes to sculpting? I am far from the best… I’m actually probably the worst. :p Anyway, nice review!
The cowl could be bigger. The actual suit, his head and neck was the stand out feature which made him menacing. I noticed most figures even the SHF, the suit looks like the Returns one. It’s just figures always has a clean shiny look.
Yea I am too. This definitely isn’t what I thought it was gonna be but I still want a 89 figure. I tend to go for smaller scale so I’m not sure if I should go for the S.H one or mezco
For the sh figuarts 89 Batman keep the cape down in the front and fold one side of the cape over in the back then fold the other side over the other keeping the front down in the front and use 2 or 3 hair pins to keep them folded in the back, it gives a perfect silhouette with that thick ass cape! I was gonna do a cape swap until I seen someone else with it done!
Good review. Thank you. I have a soft spot for 89 Batman. I have SHF, Neca and this Beast Kingdom for the first time. Hot Toys after market price is way too much for me. But I am quite disappointed with BK. The floating logo, the tight overall hindering articulation. The wire in the cape being too rigid. Somehow I feel this version is even lower than SHF. I hope they wouldn't mess up Joker. Neca has the most balanced performance even thought it was 10+ years release.
Yes, the logo is the main problem. I wouldn’t say it’s worse than the SHF, if they just fixed the logo it’s fine. I find the SHF too small. But the 7” NECA still holds up to today, it just lacked weapon accessories and the cape was too small. Hopefully Joker will be good. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for reviewing this. I had gotten the Nolan Batman a while back from the same line and had to return it due to it having glue marks on the cape. Also really just didn't like the look of it. I then ordered the Dark Knight Returns Batman and it's the ugliest thing I've ever seen. I've learned my lesson regarding Beast Kingdom.
I think BK are still far off in making a really great figure. I can see they are improving but the face sculpts just aren’t quiet there. Maybe due to the scanning technique they use. I can see why they did 1/9 scale to stay away from competitors. But at the same it puts me off since most of my collection is 1/12.
I’m currently in Hong Kong, so some shops have imported them much quicker, since BK is a Taiwan company. It might take a little bit longer if your in US or Europe.
@@Dragonoid22 your message from wow aren’t you so lucky. You probably don’t have to pay as much either for the better figures. Ex. Storm collectibles and mezco mafex. This figure is 110$usd to pre order
@@jayabernathy3889 Alot of the so called imports costs less especially the likes of SHF and Mafex. But on the other hand Mezco is not always cheaper and limited. Same goes for Hasbro, although you can get them for good prices if the BAF are taken out (people build and resell the BAF separately).

Joker with purple jacket 125$ amazon and joker interrogation with the table and chair 70$ eBay auction. I also have a Luke hobbs fast and furious. I absolutely love beast kingdom. They’re a very underrated company. And I love soft goods. I think real clothes brings them to life. Wish I could share a picture on here. I got it set up with Batman interrogating joker and beating him up and joker is sitting down handcuffed. It’s amazing

Great review. The likeness and figure aren't perfect, but I love Batman 1989 so if I see it in the store I'll buy it. I will just display him with the serious headsculpt, as that one is the closest to resembling Keaton.
Beast Kingdom would be a great company to collect from, but their off-scales are terrible. I collect 6", McFarlane's and NECA's 7" is OK sometimes, but 8"... whut?
I think what they tried to do is differentiate themselves from the rest for less competition. 1/9 is kind of bigger than SHF, Mafex, Legends right? But its smaller than Hot Toys. So they wanted to do something entirely new. I guess it also hurts them since alot of collectors including myself want the same scale. And there isn’t many 1/9 figures out there.
Not a fan of how the cowl looks, the mouth area shouldn’t completely cover his skin as it’s quite loose in the film, plus the texture of the suit is less clean. If not for the symbol and armor then I’d say this looks more like Batman Returns Keaton. Very decent but for over $100 for only a 1/12 scale fella, pour the effort all in!

Just got this figure in the mail and it’s absolutely horrendous. So many QC issues. The leather is peeling off from where they tried to glue it on his suit. It looks nothing like Micheal Keaton. I’ve tried all the different faces and they all look horrid. I literally can’t wait to return this. And I have 5 other beast kingdoms and never had any issues such as these. But I wouldn’t recommend this figure to anyone. Absolutely horrible
This is my first BK. So it’s hard to compare. But I’ve seen the old releases and the sculpts never appealed to me. I say it’s not the best figure around since the logo sticks out and the faces don’t look that much like him. However I did want to give it a try since it is a classic. And Joker together would make a special display. Which ones did you get before?

I say one of them has a good likeness , the last one I put on. The other two faces are not terrible but it doesn't really look like him.

It’s not for everyone. I think BK still have a long way before matching the likes of Mafex & Mezco.

This figure is a hit and miss. All the accessories and cape look amazing, but that face good lord 🤦♂️. It does not resemble Michael Keaton at all 😬.
