When I first started using gouache, I would have too much water in my brush as well(habits from working in watercolor). Learned quickly to dab excess water on towel before picking up paint or just dip the corner of the brush in water.

It really turned out wonderfully! I admire your style in watercolor as well. I think gouache is supposed to have a different look than watercolor, regardless.

Thank you so much :) Yes indeed gouache has a different look, it is just working out how I can use it that also fits with my aesthetics :) if you are interested in the watercolour version of the wave then that tutorial is now up on TH-cam too 😀

I am a watercolourist trying to learn gouache too. I considered the subscription box but changed my mind once I saw the postage! Both your final paintings are beautiful. Thanks for the video.

My pleasure :) Thanks for the kind comments. There is still lots to be learnt from her youtube channel and also her Patreon which is a lower cost, maybe try that route?

Hullo, I thought you did a lovely job with your re-do painting! Gouache is a much "heavier" medium or you might say watercolor is lighter or more translucent! I have been watching Sarah's videos and looked at her Patreon, but I will have to hold off as I am still trying to afford the actual gouache paints! I do hope you continue with Sarah's subscription boxes and share what you are learning because of them! Thank You and Please have yourself a lovely Day!

Thank you for you kind words 😊Yes you are right paints aren’t cheap if you want something of reasonable quality. Probably the best value is to buy a really small set of primary colours and a white as you can mix a whole range of colours from these rather than buying the sets of 12 or 24 colours. The advantage also is that you get better at colour mixing too 😉 of which I am a great advocate, I hope to do some videos on this subject.
