And therein lies a very serious problem: the voting for "MY best interest" trope.
We've all been corraled into this voting "mindset." There are 342 million of us in this country, of which approximately 328 million are of voting age. If you strictly vote "what's in it for me?"... that's ALOT of directions the votes go in, and yes, somebody's going to get disappointed.
You simply cannot please everyone. Period.
Sometimes, depending on the parties' agendas... you have got to vote with your hand UP 🫸🏽 instead of your hand OUT🫴🏽.
Instead of voting for what you can GET out of the deal? You may need to vote instead for what you don't want FORCED UPON YOU.
There are alot of cultures that make up this already great nation and no one can have it all!
But likewise, you should consider political agendas that are more all-encompassing that equally help our nation as a WHOLE, excluding no one.
Sometimes, that means not getting EVERYTHING you want, but alot of what you NEED, and OTHERS will get what they need as well.
Don't fall for the vile political agendas that seek to divide the electorate and make everyone retreat to their defensive corners.
We need to vote based on what's best for our country as a whole.
Inside the "whole" will/should be "some" fixes for all of the country's cultures.
Vote in the right people that will enforce the laws and support the constitution for ALL OF US.
Say that to the crowd in 2020 that little over 1/3 that didn't vote that could have.

No one has still answered for me what exactly is the problem with President Biden and no one has one. I don't want to hear anything about age, especially when Iowa reelected Grassley who at 88 in 2022. There are multiple senators with longer terms than the president who is older than him.
Look around. Biden's policy benefits Israel, Ukraine, illegal immigrants, and the 'letter community'. Trump won't benefit us either. So who's for us? No one!
It's mainly single issue voters. Those against the genocide in Gaza. Those who want student debt relief (although this group seems to be woefully uneducated about the steps that Biden has already done despite the Republicans and SCOTUS. Then there are the ones who just want to watch the world burn.

My grandfather used to say, "Experience is a dear teacher but a fool will learn no other way". I'm at a point where I vacillate between totally giving up on people and believing there's hope. At this stage of the game, I'm preparing for when SHTF. I pray that I'm wrong but there are too many people who will only learn the hard way (be it from apathy, distraction, stupidity, whatever).

I work with a young black man who absolutely will not be convinced to vote. He's educated and professional, carries himself with the utmost dignity and respect. He's acutely aware of the nation's problems. He just doesn't believe that voting will make a difference. He's already given up on the ability to right this ship through active democracy. Every time we discuss it, I come away feeling more discouraged. But it's important to keep trying. We all owe it to future generations to have the conversation.
He's not educated
This man can’t be educated beyond “book sense”. There is another element of educated “common sense”/wisdom that this man doesn’t have. The choice between Biden and Trump is binary. A child could see this. An uneducated person could see this. This guy has another problem!!!

I got into politics when the price of candy went up. This was during the Cuban crisis. I couldn't even vote, but I wanted to know why. I had a real candy addiction at the time. October 1962, penny candy went from a handful for a penny to one piece for a penny. You must have a voice in every aspect of your life, I will never sit around and let someone control my life without my voice being heard. Even if it's just my small voice! As a white democrat who recently found your show, i agree were easier to talk to, my wife and i are the only dems in a family of 18 GQP that we moved to within a mile of to be closer to family in 2015, bad idea. My son showed up with a flag on his truck with my new grandson 3 yrs old, when they were eating the wind blew his blue flag a long ways away, i suspect near the dump.

With all due respect to the esteemed Mr. Mystal, that "we" is really important. "We" did not always know democracy. "We" know exactly what lack of autonomy feels like, even in my lifetime, even in his. And that makes a difference. One doesn't have to go back very far to tap into that feeling that it all really doesn't matter, whether that's currently true or not.
Concentrate on the male vote let men know the cost of child maintenance should all birth control be outlawed

Your show sheds light on so many things. I'm wondering if you or if you can have someone on your podcast who can explain the process of getting REPARATIONS. It's sad when I hear a lot of black people say, they're not voting unless they give black people REPARATIONS. Because I don't think they truly understand. It's unsettling to me to hear them say this. Because it's so obvious that if you don't vote, that REPARATIONS are not going to happen

I have my faith in the women vote. There are a lot of women of all races and persuasions who will vote for the overturn of the overturn of Roe v Wade. Let's make this the year of the women vote majority in 2024. There is a lot at stake.
I think as Black People looking at the vote, especially the Black vote we need to look beyond the popular vote. For the most part unless something drastically changes in the political system the democrat party will always win the popular votes. We need to focus more attention on the Electoral College and the states. We know the north east (Pennsylvania is questionable) is straight blue. The pacific coast states are blue. We need to focus on those swing states where there is a Black population. Then in some of the deep red states where there are huge Black populations like Mississippi, Georgia (purple state), Alabama and Louisiana. Some of those states if Black people are allowed to fully vote would turn blue. Focus on those states more.
They recently made alabama less gerrymandered an while I'm not sure it's enough to flip this shit pancake it may help tilt the scales just a little
