    We can work with people like Michael Steele, because Mr. Steele isn't about grifting for dollars. I believe he truly has a Black agenda from a Right of center perspective. And I believe he has an interest in the overall good of humanity over profit and power.

      It is a shame that he only got to be the RNC Chairman for 2 years but that total Trump sycophant Ronna McDaniel is able to be the RNC Chairperson for 8 years.

      Omg you nailed it. Been trying to pinpoint why exactly he has always struck me as 100% genuine ever since I first came across him post-Coupy Doo and it's exactly that - he's not doing it to grift. He didn't first think how he could continue a career and making money while pivoting to fight trump, he just started doing it. Charlie Sykes and most of them at the Bulwark have been pretty A+ as well but I'll always have my guard up around most of the pre-2016 Repubs lol
      Will gladly fight in the trenches with Chairman Steele, though!

Start with healthcare, putting policies in place that address the disparity in the health care system gor rural America. Ex. Establish clinics where known gaps in healthcare exist and figure out how to tie it to federal funding.

    Michael Steele has one of the most interesting arcs in political media. He went from being a black GOP "bootstraps" conservative to being thrown under the bus by his own party, implying he was a DEI hire, to a guy who seems to have realized that he jumped ship on the GOP just in time to maintain his credibility and his soul. His only naiveite here is when he says, "I keep the republican label to remind conservatives what it meant to be a republican and we still can be". He still doesnt realize that his image of the party never actually existed. He bought into the illusion that "Republican economic principles" and "religious freedom" etc were the core tenants of the ideology but the bigotry was always deeply ingrained in every aspect of the ideology. The veil was lifted when Obama got elected and the GOP turned on Steele. He saw the clouds of Trumpism coming before Trump ever came down that escalator. All they needed was a figurehead.

    I totally agree with what he said about the banks still redlining black entrepreneurs. Here in Beaumont, TX, we had a black superintendent that went to the bank where most of the teachers in the public schools had their money. He asked them why is it so disproportionate in lending between the black and white/asian/hispanic educators. Needless to say, they eventually got rid of him and spoke so many untruths about him. He wasn’t perfect, as none of us are, but he was about educational excellence. He also built new elementary schools in the black and white neighborhoods. It’s so disheartening but they think they will be first in line for heaven…smh

    Great program Ms. Hunter-->Mr. Steele is definitely a guest you should have on as often as possible; he has always been one of very few reasonable country-first Republicans -{Senator Jon McCain, Sen. Bob Dole, or Sen. Mitt Romney} that I first saw on MSNBC back in the 2000's on Keith Olbermann's show, Countdown w-Keith Olbermann -{who has a great Tele-Radio-Podcast on You Tube now...}... He was a genuine peaceful-man when the Tea-Party were the nuts of the GOP.....he actually tired to reach out Blacks and other Minorities to his party is a positive way.......I couldn't vote for anybody his party put up for Presidential office but I respected his positions....He always worked to show a decent side of a party, which hasn't had a decent side in 60-70yrs...the days of -{Senator JOhn McCain, Sen. Bob Dole, and Sen Mitt Romney} decent republicans are gone....he was able to keep the Tea Party the "Nuts" of the Republican party then... unfortunately metastasized into the MAGA mess it is now... but their efforts along with the preparations made by their Cult leader for a decade that he was on TV... at President P01135809 split his time after 2-4am insane-tweets; to his sleep-in til Noon days watching Fox-News for his message tilt... spend the rest of his days: 33% playing golf; glancing a at cliff-note w-child-pictures daily brief -{if he ever took any time to read it and not just have somebody just tell his lazy-Arce..}
    And other the 33-50% of the time his aides were smart-enough to send him around the whites portions of the country to marinate the simmering "Hate/Racism' within the party w-rallies making fun of political rivals encouraging terrorist organizations w/in the USA to be ready willing, and in some cases active agents to keep him in power... Who has worked for this guy and not gone to jail, be under investigation/incitement and readying for jail???? I'm glad Michael Steele continues to be that burn in their side who reminds them what the though used to try to be.......the last15-25% of the time P01135809, he spent making us a laughingstock around the world and nearly destroying NATO and the relationships w-some of our closest allies, trying to Blackmail a President of a country {Ukraine}, who requested our aide, and by his stupidity set in motion a War now 2yrs old...Keep whoing why this man should never be in office again and perhaps spend the rest of his days locked up...

What is it about "Progressive Liberal values" that he so strongly can not align himself with, to the extent that he refuses to let go of what he thought the Republican party was? Liberals believe in religious freedom. Liberals believe in good government, not zero govt. So, wheres the actual ideological divide for him personally? Seems to me that for the GOP... the only difference is authoritarian vs non-authoritarian versions of these "ideals".
