I got 3 of these 2014 iMacs two months ago at a garage sale and these things are beautiful and still fast. One of them had the fusion drive and the other 2 had SSD so it is good. The first time I loaded one of these up connecting to my 4K 27 inch monitor it was like zen because it was running Catalina and everything was blank. No clutter and everything fast. Can surf the web and install an older version of XCode to learn to develop iOS apps and games.
You know what, thank you for this video. I am considering getting a M2 and overdosed on so many videos that algorithm landed me here. The 2014 mac mini is as good as my current laptop. I think the M2 min pro wil lbe good for the next decade. Hope you do a video on how it handles photo and video editing (even at 720p).
Great video! I am considering for 2014. Mac Mini model, not for work (I have M1 MBA) but for HTPC replacement, I have an old Windows for playing music and watching movies, so my question is, is this model capable of 4k video reproduction? Thank you!
They run Linux just fine. Just replace the hard drive with a SSD. Actually you can put both a 2.5" drive and an NVME in it. Avoid the 1.4 GHz version, the other versions have better graphics. And be aware you can not upgrade the RAM. Get one with at least 8 GB.
I'm thinking of getting one of these to use for homeschooling and using a parent control app for my kids iphones. Can I use a old tv with hdmi as a monitor? And I have a Majic Keyboard I use with my ipad 10th gen.....can that keyboard be used as well? I have always used windows computers but wanted to try mac and don't want to spend a fortune. I have iphones and ipads so I'm somewhat familiar with Apple.
I'm stuck on whether to get this or an iPad pro 10.5" as they seem to both score the same on geekbench but the mac mini is a bit cheaper than the ipad. there's many different variablesI'm
Algorithm is listing to me. We have some 2014 Mac Minis sitting around at work (IT) and there's a conference room that has no computer. The presenters connect the the wireless system. The problem is, the wireless system (Soltice) SUCKS and has always sucked. Im planning on mounting a mini behind the tv but, the conference room was donated by some dead dude (this is a university) and he or someone don't want 'technology' in the room. Yeah...with big 55 inch TV and a Soltice device mounted behind it. I think enough complaints have warrant me to do this project.
You could maybe disclose next time that your voiceovers are completely AI generated. The background noise is very known to be from WaveNet-like TTS models.
this doesn't sound like AI to me in the slightest, why get so wound up he's using AI anyways? sometimes people don't have a great voice/ the equipment for videos and sometimes AI voices speaking a script is better suited to their needs or content
@@somecringeuwu3928 You can trust me here, this is definitely AI. Plus, it wouldn't sound this convincing if he didn't provide voice samples from himself in high quality, so he would have the means to do it himself. I would not mind if he would disclose it, but he just does it and hopes noone notices.

Fusion is basically sshd using ssd for cache and hdd for stored.
I found this online for about $90. I'm gonna try it out just to add it to my desk setup

You can plug it via the HDMI, yeah. I've never used the Magic Keyboard, but it should work fine

trying to figure out.*
Can you plug two monitors into this?
I think you can connect three. This model has two mini-displayport outputs and one HDMI output.

Would this be a good product for Logic (music recording)?
no
@@s-j-e-1why not?
I'm here because I want to upgrade to a new Mac but can't kill my supped up 2014. I use it exclusively for logic for the record
