23:37 fun fact about Oracle here. He’s got those tablets in the background corresponding to the Egyptian god cards, and his tribute effects are based on those cards’ effects (or the anime effects, in one example) Gaining ATK based on his tributes’ levels is reminiscent of anime Ra gaining all the ATK his tributes had on the field. Destroying all face-down cards is reminiscent of Obelisk destroying all the opponent’s monsters. And debuffing everything by 2000 ATK/DEF is reminiscent of Slifer’s second-mouth floodgate thing.
Fun fact about the yu-gi-oh card game phase out the magic card type of support card name to avoid being associated with another famous card game called magic the gathering of course Konami could have taken them to court over that and they would have about a 50/50 chance of success or failure deepening on the outcome of the court case in question
I was not expecting this Nova! I remember telling you on stream I main Gravekeeprs and your response was "Well, there's worse decks you can do than Necrovalley!" What a treat!
Gravekeeper's Inscription is not a TCG-exclusive card. It was first released in the Pharaonic Legend Pack on May 27, 2022. You might have assumed it was because of it being the first card on the English set card list, but that's not always the case. Other instances of this include Gaia the Fierce Knight Origin in Rise of the Duelist and Diviner of the Herald in Lightning Overdrive.
They need new support badly! And by support not cards with their artwork in them but, cards that help THEM and further their strengths and strategies! My first and favorite archetype from when it first came out. The originators should not be left out hanging this long.
Exodia or the "forbidden" archetype was the first one played in the show as an archetype. Five named peices of archetype in the first yugioh pack ever? It also is an instant win condition and needed to be nerfed till the end of time. As we got more support, the theme of the archetype never changed, win via card effect.
Add a single copy of Quintet Magician and suddenly The Pharoah connection works. there'll be a reason why there's so many gravekeepers protecting the tomb
I am glad that you are one of the people who correctly pronounces Commandant. I always try to explain to my friends why it is that way and not the other.
21:18 you can summon it easy with spy and trone also helps a bit and yes it's still slow in general but it's still worth the tribute and you got to play at least 1 copy in your deck for that reason.
see this is how Servant plays into Gravekeepers: It literally mills your opponents deck for them attacking, taking away their potentially valuable resources and sending them to the GY where they would be presumably locked down by Necrovalley. I think Gravekeepers servant fits into the decks theme/playstyle pretty perfectly.
I feel like if yugioh had a connected universe past a few archetypes involving each other, gravekeepers and exosisters wouldn't directly like each other but would tolerate each other since they indirectly want a similar thing.
Man, not mentioning Malefic Stardust Dragon? They were practically the Gravekeeper's main boss monster until Spiritualist existed. It's still very useful to Gravekeepers!
I'll always say it, but the Errata version we got in the structure deck Marik was the healthier version of Necrovalley. It still restricted graveyard interaction, but it also allowed cards that could self revive or self bounce to hand to still be active.
I love this achetype. I have one built for goat format, edison format, hat format, and modern format. And its just so cool seeing their support get fine tuned throughout the years
Shout-out to Vassal for those Duel Links missions where you needed to do big burn damage in one duel. Just stack 3 power of guardian and attack some defense monsters of a lvl 20 bot until you can just bomb.
Gravekeepers was the first real deck I made myself (I originally had a deck very similar to Joey Wheeler's using the Joey Starter deck, but had 3 Red-Eyes in it) and I argue that it's my second strongest deck after Labrynth. I disagree with your claim that Gravekeeper's Curse is a near useless card- I've won games by summoning, sacrificing, and re-summoning him and using Dark Room of Nightmare to add onto the damage. The Gravekeepers are all pretty weak without Necrovalley, but with the right burn cards they can be a force to be reckoned with. (I also had Lava Golem in the deck too, and Mask of the Accursed and Nightmare Wheel to make him immobile as soon as he's summoned.)
Quick note here, Gravekeeper's Shaman is a level 6 monster, yes, but her stats are 1500/1500, making her an eligible target for both Spy AND Recruiter. So, you can just pull her straight from the deck, no tributes needed. Hidden temple will also self-destruct if you tribute your last monster to tribute summon another.
Honestly I think Gravekeepers would be pretty sick if they got a Cydra, maybe a Lv 6 or higher for synergy with things that care about levels like supernatural, and give it targeting protection, maybe something like "when an effect targets a card in your graveyard or field zone you can tribute this card to negate that effect" and 2k both ways, boom, we have a mini wincon, maybe that's a little pushed but maybe you could make it a little bricky by needing the field spell for the special summon like all the other Gravekeepers, make it even more of a protect the castle style deck
I have found that Summoner monk or even Witch of the black forest are nice to have. Witch bypasses Necrovalley and monk if he goes off is a guaranteed supernaturalist. They are also dark lv 4 spellcasters so surprisingly much synergy here.
This deck and i go way back, and I wish for the day it gets another wave of support. that said... Cannonholder finished many a match for me back in the day, and yes, you probably should have covered gravekeepers trap here since it allows for further consistency.
I've come to the conclusion that gravekeepers will always be a great rouge choice I can't even remember the last time a meta did not have graveyard relevance
Love grave keepers. Closest I’ll ever get to playing Egyptian dedicated cards. Since Horus dragon is getting nothing 🥲even though it had great potential
As someone who has kept gravekeepers in their back pocket forever... thank you for finally giving them the spotlight

Never knew that! Makes sense Ra effect would be the worst though lol
the errata explanation is hugely helpful -- thanks :)

How dare these guys Gatekeeping Graves
It's rather grave when the gravely gravekeepers are gatekeeping the graves
@@waifusmith4043You’ve went to far and have made a grave mistake.
When your brother passes on and you guard his tomb you become your brother's gravekeeper.

Yo Gravekeepers was my first archetype that I bought when I was a tween. I loved using them. Even to now adays.
Other wise known as "share if you play."

Vassal has such a niche effect...I can be used to dodge "the opponent takes no battle damage" effects.
21:18 you can summon it easy with spy and trone also helps a bit and yes it's still slow in general but it's still worth the tribute and you got to play at least 1 copy in your deck for that reason.

Combine this with macro cosmos and they can't declare an attack i use this combo sometimes 😂😂
Nice Legend of dragoon intro XD that got me off guard right from the start :)
I feel like if yugioh had a connected universe past a few archetypes involving each other, gravekeepers and exosisters wouldn't directly like each other but would tolerate each other since they indirectly want a similar thing.
Gravekeepers are much more fun and cooler and better
Man, not mentioning Malefic Stardust Dragon? They were practically the Gravekeeper's main boss monster until Spiritualist existed. It's still very useful to Gravekeepers!
Now we also have dragoon
I'll always say it, but the Errata version we got in the structure deck Marik was the healthier version of Necrovalley. It still restricted graveyard interaction, but it also allowed cards that could self revive or self bounce to hand to still be active.
Na, doesn’t make sense. The current version is what they always wanted it to be
Fun fact gravekeepers we're seen in GX played by the Gravekeepers chief himself in season 1
I love this achetype. I have one built for goat format, edison format, hat format, and modern format. And its just so cool seeing their support get fine tuned throughout the years
17:43 Nova, just give up. That's pure copium at this point
Gaslight Gravekeep Girlboss
The intro of this video is excellent with the legend of dragoon music 🎶 🎵
Love playing this deck on Master Duel. It's always fun to see people quit because of Necrovalley.

Dude, this deck seriously benefits from Sol and Luna like you wouldn't believe.
I just started watching Albaz Lore again and the Mysterion thing killed me. 😂
Which Mysterion thing?
This whole time in my years of yugioh I thought Oracle was some hybrid bird man until u talked about his hair😅😭

I’m surprised nobody has mentioned Magician’s Souls as a good tech for the deck

What’s written on the tablet of grave keepers noblemen? I gots to know lol
I searched for this a month or two ago so I'm very glad to see it now😁
Wonder wand +recruiter is still one of my favorite plays

Kinda missed the melific star dust because it's a easy 2.5k beater and protect the field spell.
I don't not know why, but commandant is one of my favorites in terms of older cards artwork.
Rember if you play gravekeeps share
Finally I've been waiting for this
What's the source of the video clip at the start of Farfa and MBT ?
Shaman can be special summoned by Spy's effect.
Ah Necrovalley; Yugioh's timeshare open to all.
Ah my favorite archetype
Gravekeepers were my first archetype LET'S FUCKING GO!
When a archetype does job that graveyard should have been doing all along instead of being second deck:
Such a fun deck to run.
I was expecting the lore to be mentioned
“Umi” was the first archetype.
Ah Gravekeepers they can still be pretty potent despite their age.
They ARE Floodgate heavy.
And completely mess with decks that use the graveyard as part of their strategy
I've come to the conclusion that gravekeepers will always be a great rouge choice I can't even remember the last time a meta did not have graveyard relevance
Omg I love gravekeepers and necrovalley ❤❤❤

There’s still Nephytys
@@atmmachine11 Naahh it just don’t hit the same to me. Not with the head cannon lore and custom cards I made for Horus 😂
@@Flameville XD fair! Just brought it up as an example. I guess there is also Triamid but those are really not great and don’t have much support.
@@atmmachine11 we don’t talk about triaMID 🥲🥲🥲
I would like to celebrate with you the glory of the Horus Archetype while lamenting the fact that it doesn’t work with Gravekeepers at all
I disagree with you on Shaman. You say it's hard to access? Have you forgotten about spy already.
IF there wasn't so much back removle i would hate this deck more given i love graveyard decks
I've a question, Is there like a gambling lore? XD
I’m not going to sugar code
Can I just say that as much as I cringe at every pun, my greatest joy of your videos is your use of LoD’s soundtrack
