    This is a fantastic breakdown of the steps for a water start clearly identified, they are a tremendous help. Thank you for taking the time to make this video!

    Happy to help. When does this usually happen? You should make sure the footstraps are set tothe right size. Your feet should be able to go all the way in easily. Then when you put your board on in the water - wiggle your feet and push them up, while pushing down on the handle.

    Thank you. I've been struggling as a beginner and I am pretty sure that you just cleared up my issue (board position - not pointed downwind enough). Well done video. Thanks for the work.

    Could you make a video how to get upwind? Also explain the power position of the bar? I mean, to stay upwind, should i let the bar in the middle power? When do i need to pull the bar all the way in?
    Thank you!

    • @kitesurfcollege
      @kitesurfcollege  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Reitz I'm working on that one soon. For upwind, you need to adjust the bar position as you ride. If you go too fast, bar out. If you go too slow bar in. To go upwind you must keep a medium speed - if you're too fast your board will loose contact with the water and fly downwind; if you're too slow the board is not planing well and is not efficient.

    Hey there. Please show or tell what happens after kite falls in the water. How do you get it out and up?

    • @kitesurfcollege
      @kitesurfcollege  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Kali Isa Let go of the bar and pull gently on one steering line (very gently) until the kite launches slowly. If it launches quickly let go of that line.

    Hi Alex, I can't get passed the shore break! The waves keep coming, fairly quickly and with enough force to take me off balance when I try to board drag out to sea to try my water start. A lot of times, this is worsened by the kite flying to one side persistently instead of staying where I park it. When this happens I have to keep pulling the bar to the opposite side constantly just to keep the kite in the neutral position. I have checked the length of my lines, and they are all exactly the same. I would like to try a quick water start/jump start, starting from a standing position instead of sitting in the water. Any tips? Thanks, Claudio R.

    • @davidl3115
      @davidl3115 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      your kite should not pull to one side unless there is a reason perhaps u are steering it to one side or one or your flying lines are a little bit shorter than the other . Make sure they are all even. the other thing is that the best kite for learning to kitesuf is a low aspect ratio kite as they are more stable and consistent . stay away from high aspect kites that are geared towards freestyle/jumping/boosting and tricks. u want a nice freeride kite to learn on. Its easier to waterstart from in a reclined position in the water than standing up because u have more control and balance over the power of the kite . may be u need to find a beach location with flatter water and less waves to learn.

    • @BlindedWantsToSee
      @BlindedWantsToSee 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks David. Yes, I started going to a beach with gentle waves, and it is going much better. I can waterstart:) I also found that my back sometimes was not square to the wind, so I probably was pulling on one steering line more that on the other. Thanks again...

    • @kitesurfcollege
      @kitesurfcollege  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can easily check whether your kite is unblanaced. Park your kite at 12. Then hold only the middle of the bar and pull the bar closer. If the kite moves quickly away from 12 then it's unbalanced. That could be caused by stretched lines, bridles or even the kite itself.

      Thank you much for the suggestion. I will test my kite. Your instructional videos are AWESOME. Thanks so much for them as well. Claudio.

    • @kitesurfcollege
      @kitesurfcollege  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +aaronlennon71 that's a 2013 slingshot RPM. it's a 14m2 as the wind was very light. RPM is probably not the best kite to learn with though FYI.

    Hello, I find it interesting that you’re emphasizing on pointing the board downwind when initiating the waterstart. This is something that I’ve been consciously trying do but for which I’m unable to keep my body parallel with the board during the sitting position at times unless I keep the kite directly at apex. What I’m doing now is keeping the kite between crosswind and downwind which results in my legs and board sort twisting away from my upperbody. I initially thought that trying to keep the kite between crosswind and downwind would help point the board downwind. Can somebody tell me what I’m missing here? I feel that this is holding me back a bit from truly progressing.

    "How to water start"? Don't you ALWAYS waterstart in kitesurfing? I mean, you can't climb up your kiteboard first and then pull you kite out of the water, can you? So shouldn't the title just be "How to start"?

    • @kitesurfcollege
      @kitesurfcollege  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      haha. Well actually you can start standing, across the beach, in the air, from a palm tree, or even from an iceberg (not that any of these are advisable for learners). But, yes, you pretty much always start from the water.

    • @mrstealyourkill1896
      @mrstealyourkill1896 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      TavernSenses you can, it is called re-launching, it is mainly used when your kite de powers as falls into the water, also it is very hard to get into a safe zone without your kite being in the air
