Mimi we need to bring back home economics in schools so kids can learn about sewing and other home economics classes. Will simplicity ever do personal measurement patterns?

      Agree with you 💯.
I think that move is going to help develop their ability to determine clothing that fit well or not...also consciousness of saving ,consumption, environmental issues associated, etc.

I watched this video to the end. Excellent! I loved how you clearly explained every step, offering options and defining the stitching/ methods. The best sew along you have made in my opinion. BTW you, hubby and Brittini-- outstanding team.

As an art teacher I taught kids sewing. Hand sewing, decorating with buttons and beads for younger kids and older kids made a pillow using my sewing machine. They loved the whole process! But there should be a home arts class for schools. Learning how to cook from scratch, sew and repair clothing, clean and maintain a home are things they will use for the rest of their life time.

We are the same here in the UK home economics seem to have disappeared, young teenagers are leaving school without the ability to cook clean or do a simple repair like sewing on a button, they then go on to have children and skills are not being passed on, and families end up living off takeaways and convenience foods, it’s really quite sad

May I make a suggestion especially for ladies that have "back" as per Sir Mix-a-Lot their hemlines need to be measured from the floor up to prevent the rear hemline hiking up and looking shorter in profile. After hanging for 24hours + use either a chalk hem marker (if by your self) or add an additional 1" to 3" to the center back seam tappering to the side seam to counter the problem.

I know I'm a little, however I just brought this pattern and watched this video. It is really great and not hard to follow. I can't wait to make it! I'd like to add pockets to the shorts however I'm not sure where to place them (I'm still a novice when altering patterns). Any ideas on how to determine where they should go?

Mimi - thank you for taking all of this on. It's going to help all of us out here. I want to make a comment that may be good to know - I have decided that, going forward, I'm only buying patterns if there is a video sew along to go with it. I don't mind if it's by you, Norris, Brittany or Anita Morris (who is not affiliated with your new job or your store, I know). I hope that's good feedback for the Big 4. No video, no making the garment ;-)

I just completed the top with a skirt of another Simplicity pattern using this skirt directions. 🤣🤣 It turned out so great and the pattern print is so pretty on this pattern. 💕💕 I love it. Sidebar: I did attempt to make the shorts in this pattern but the fabric material I choose was unforgiving. Nevertheless, the results were great. Thank you for the tutorial.

I’m so excited to hear about extended size coming in pattern form. PDF has been my go to for patterns. Because that’s what I find in my size. And I totally appreciate these indie pattern makers. But it would be so nice to walk into a store and buy a pattern that’s my size. And not have to print out and tape a pattern together. Thanks for your hard work. I’ve enjoyed your education.
