In the UK these are known as Indian saddles. They are a fraction of the price of a UK made saddle and no one wants one. Why? The leather is poor quality, the stitching isn't good and they aren't adjustable and they can be hard to sit on. The flocking is often uneven which is painful for the hose. Even if you knew nothing about saddles and put a UK saddle and Indian saddle side by side you would see the difference instantly. I have a friend who has just paid £3.000 for a saddle, the saddle fitter will fit it and return regularly to re flock and adjust it. Also there are excellent synthetic saddles (Wintec) on the market, I use two all the time, there are light, comfortable, adjustable and easy to clean. Ebay is full of these saddles, Indian saddlers really need to up their game.

But this saddle is made for local use not for export.
I think the quality of the saddles you are talking about are the cheap, badly made ones that are frowned upon here. The workmanship on these is incredible and though may not be made to measure are of a high quality and standard.
You’ve heard of Henri De Rivel? In my opinion, HDR makes some of the best English saddles for starters. Exchangeable, gullet’s top-notch, leather and doll. Guess where they’re made… India. It all depends on the craftsman, and the time he puts into it.
These saddles are made by the poorest of the poor, and sold to people who have everything. And the poor don't see any profit for making the saddle.. Kinda gross. I don't buy saddles from major brand anyways. They're artificially inflated.

Just no, cheap leather, cheap wood, cheap thinnest metal. This saddle will destroy horses back in weeks if not days. Usually these trees are twisted even when new. Bad position of stirrups hook. I really appreciate craftsmanship but it’s not supposed to be on a horses back. Vet bills will be more than price of this saddle.
