- So here we go! Diving into more k-rock jams that Day6 has opened to us. This time around it's checking out The Rose which sounds like All American Rejects now that we think about it. Yeah Jungsu (the keyboardist and one of the main vocalists) he does do that vocal fry in live performances, it does sound a bit different to the track, but still sounds pretty good comparatively. I think you guys would really enjoy Again? Again! which is one of my favorite tracks off their newest mini album. here's a live clip to react to or watch on your own, it might suit your taste better than Happy Death Day:

The Rose are a fantastic band. They’ll be attending Coachella soon as well. Since two members speak fluent English (one grew up in California, the other studied in New Zealand), their English lyrics come out really well. I love Woosung’s voice and it is sooo much more unique than Back to Me first makes it seem. It’s great for these high energy pop rock songs, but slow soft rock ballads are where his voice truly shines.
If you want solos, the kband Onewe usually always has a guitar solo part.
Also Happy Death Day is a great example of Xdinary Heroes’ musical direction even if it’s not necessarily their best song. The band’s genre is basically a three-way cross of pop punk rock. They do have more mellow and less crazy songs like Good Enough and Dear H that you might be more privy to.
I’m really into kbands, so I have an arsenal of suggestions in my back pocket. This corner of Korean music is super underrated. Lots of high-quality songs that don’t get nearly as much attention as they deserve.
The Rose actually has a good variety of types of songs. Their song Alive even has a dub step style like break.
He does do the vocal fry lol
Singer Woosung was raised in the USA, LA so his English is really good.

Xdinary Heroes are a 6 member band under JYP, they debuted December 6, 2021 with their single Happy Death Day.
The members:
Gunil - ‘98, leader, drummer, he occasionally sings but playing drums and singing is difficult so he doesn’t do it often (if you want to hear him sing I recommend listening to Knock Down and their Impossible cover), he went to Berklee so he speaks pretty much fluent English.
Jungsu - ‘01, keyboardist (the one always on the left), main vocal, he used to have idol training so he dances really well, he’s also amazing at singing, there’s a few videos out there of him singing acoustic and it’s incredible!
Gaon (real name: Jiseok) - ‘02, rhythm guitarist (always the one in front), singer, rapper, he’s been playing the guitar for ages so he’s very good! He also was subscribed to Gunil’s TH-cam channel before they knew each other 😂
O.de (real name: Seungmin) - ‘02 synthesiser (always at the right), singer, rapper, he also used to have idol training like Jungsu, he posts a lot more dancing videos (a recent one he did was to Paint the Town Red, highly recommend 😅), he’s also very interested in fashion and often chooses outfits for the rest of the band.
Jun Han (real name: Hyeong Jun) - ‘02, lead guitarist, he doesn’t sing often but his guitar playing makes up for it, his solos are amazing! He’s very introverted but the other members have definitely helped him to be more confident!
Jooyeon - ‘02, maknae, bassist, main singer, Jooyeon has a more rock sounding voice while Jungsu’s is a lot softer so their voices mix together really well. In their last comeback “Freakin’ Bad” he’s the one who did the metal scream effect! You might recognise him the easiest as he usually has longer hair!
Their albums in order of release go Happy Death Day (single), Hello World, Overload, Deadlock, Livelock. Because they’re so new they don’t have many music videos yet but the ones they do have are Happy Death Day, Test Me, Strawberry Cake, Haircut, X-Mas, Freakin’ Bad, Good Enough, Dear H, Break the Brake, and Pluto.
They sound even better live! For the whole of Hello World they have live clips on their channel, even at their concerts their vocals and instruments are incredible! I also love how you can really tell how much they love what they’re doing.
Their music could be included in the rock/alternative/pop punk etc. genres but to be honest it’s so unique and their songs have such different sounds that it’s hard to put them under a certain genre.
They’ve done a lot of covers: Ghost of You (5SOS), I’m Serious (Day6), Impossible (Nothing But Thieves), Drown (BMTH), Hellevator (Stray Kids), Tomboy ((G)I-DLE), Zombie (Day6), Welcome to the Black Parade (MCR), Love Me Right (EXO), You’re the One (J.Y. Park), Butter (BTS, Dynamite (BTS), (I’ve know I’ve missed a couple but they’re all out there :)
They’ve also been on immortal songs twice, I really recommend watching them they’re both really good and show off their vocals.
Even though they’re a K band and not exactly Kpop they still promote and are involved in what normal kpop groups do. They won 2 MAMA awards last year! (Best Rookie and Best Band)
I might be biased but I would say that Jungsu and Jooyeon have some of the best 4th Gen vocals. They both have a wide vocal range (just watch Strawberry Cake 😂). I said before but when they sing together they sound amazing, to hear that at its best I recommend watching their ‘Dingo Rising Voice’ video.
To get to know their personalities they have a show called “Rock the World” which has been going on since very early days so you can see how they have evolved as a group! Their friendship is adorable, they seem so genuine and close! They honestly just seem like a group of friends having fun 😂
Saw The Rose exactly a month ago in Berlin. They are insane! You need to check out more, pleaseee

Glad to see you enjoying The Rose! I think the song is waaay on the opposite side of “you suck” and more along the lines of “I suck, and I’ve realized it, but I still long for you”
For more melodic Xdinary Heroes songs I'd recommend Freakin' Bad (including a guitar solo bridge ;) ) or Pluto. Or you go mellow and check out their ballads, Good Enough (completely in English) and Dear H. Happy Death Day is admittedly a bit of an acquired taste. It was their debut song so I think they wanted to go all out with that one and make clear they're not just a Day6 clone (they're from the same label).
Checkout Break the Break by Xdinary Heroes it's their newest comeback. I highly recommend checking out Good Enough it's one of my favorite KPOP song of all time (I think you will love it) . it's not a title track but it does have an official video. It's a completely different vibe from them but you can really check out their vocals. Xdinary Heroes actually produces their own music.

Xdinary Heroes' discography is so diverse so i would really recommend reacting to more of their songs!! If you're looking for more a melodic sound, i highly recommend their song "Pluto", specifically the NPOP live performance as it highlights their beautiful vocals and live instruments (with a fantastic mini guitar solo!!). Other songs that might suit your tastes are "Good Enough" (written by XH drummer Gunil and DAY6 Young K), "Again? Again!" and "Freakin' Bad". As other comments have pointed out, they also have amazing covers of songs such as "Welcome to the Black Parade" by MCR, "Drown" by Bring Me The Horizon, and "Impossible" by Nothing but Thieves.
For The Rose, I recommend their songs "Sorry", "Time", and "Cure". Woosung's (the main vocalist) voice is so unique people say he sings in cursive haha i love his style :)

The Bass player and the Drummer both sing back up vocals, and those harmonies are them that you here. The Rose is a wonderful band!

Finally!!! I’ve been buggin Flip for so long about The Rose. “Back to Me” is a gateway drug into The Rose since it’s all English and easier to be introduced to them. They’re considered Indie/Pop Rock and soooo underrated. All 4 guys sing, but the mains are the ones you noticed, Woosung & Dojoon. Thanks for reacting, guys.
Next up,”Alive,” followed by “Beauty and the Beast.” Just so you know, BATB is not what you’re expecting. It’s not Disney. Follow that with “Sour,” and “She’s in the Rain.”
Also, Woosung, the first singer is a local LA resident, and his vocals is so unique from any other K-singers. He’s got a bunch of solos, they’re all sooo good. I can share more of those with you later on. Don’t want to overwhelm you yet.

Happy Death Day is their debut song during that time they are still finding their own sound.. but after that their songs are top tier. they are more Rock Band.. they do solo guitar and solo keyboard.. They did cover My Chemical Romance - Black Parade, Nothing But Thieves - Impossible, 5 SOS - Ghost Of You, Bring Me The Harizon - Drown, Stray Kids - Hellevator, Day6 - Zombie, G-Idle - Tomboy and Many More.. That's why their popularity is rising like NMIXX because their progress and their vocals/talents

The comparison of The Rose to Jimmy Eat World is a really good one. You guys talked about how the song sounded more upbeat but had sadder lyrics and that is basically Jimmy Eat World in a nutshell. Really great reaction
I love Back to Me because this was my introduction to The Rose. Please check out some of their other songs that highlight their vocals. They played at Coachella 2024 and their set provided a good overview. Woosung is the main vocalist with the husky voice, Dojoon is the other main vocalist.

I love this band! They have really good songs and great voices. I love rock music and I listen to it often, especially from the 80s, but also contemporary music. I found this group a few months ago and I am enchanted by them. Currently they are on tour in Europe. I was at their concert in Poland in Krakow. It was an amazing spectacle and experience. The audience sang along with them. I felt like I was at a Queen concert, of which I am a huge fan. I recommend The Rose's songs to everyone. Greetings from Poland

That's awesome! you react to two of my favorites bands from Korea!!!!! But they are very different.
The rose songs are usually, not all of them, more slow tempo. The last release is much more up beat. And "back to me" included in this last one, I think is the most rock from all of their discography.
Xdinary heroes, they have much hard and quicker tempo songs, talking always in general. But you did not choose a good rock song from them to react. Happy death day and haircut, are both very experimental songs. Not for everyone. I like both because they are different apart from the great lyrics, but i did not fall in love with them because of those songs at all. I do not know your taste, but check any song that others villans comment down below, i would add: Again? again! is old rock vibes. Thank you again for your review!

in my very own personal opinion, for me Xdinary Heroes' Happy Death Day is just like NMIXX with O.O. it sounds experimental to the point people goes "is this the right sounds for these type of group? bcs its so weird for them to do this." they dont follow the rules and thats so very JYPe artist coded.
