Meditation and yoga really helped heal my nervous system and increase my health. Lyme causes all sorts of adrenal fatigue and then excess. It helps with all that and the pain. It's all on TH-cam. I ate much healthier. I took supplements for my gut and stuff. Different things. I had to be open minded and willing. Trust it will happen. I was bed ridden for a long time. Got a tick bite on my upper right arm between 82 and 84 as I was a neighborhood lawn mowing kid. Diagnosed in June 2013. Luckily I only have Boriella as I'm 50, alive and working about 35 hours a week. The typical symptoms started in the 80's with aching elbows and wrists. Then my back and neck got extremely stiff and painful. An orgasm would (yes many people have orgasms) stiffen my back to the point that if I tried tipping my head forward 4" the pain was enough to make me scream. Then later 80's my knees hurt really bad to the point I wondered if I needed knee replacement as I was in my early 20's. Then food intolerances began as honey, corn starch and corn syrup solids were the first foods I figured gave me trouble. I had a headache for a year constantly in 88 or 89. I was diagnosed with PTSD in the middle 90's from several things including being with my parents at age 5 when they found a suicide,,, a cow trying to kill me when I was 7 and a Doctor raping me with a suction hose when I was 8. Other things might have happened to me that were so traumatic I don't remember them. I was throwing out my back a lot in the 90's. My chiropractor said my body was very stiff. Food intolerances got worse in the early 90's then I saw a natural medicine practitioner who gave me a list of foods to avoid. Most of them berries and albumen types. Food intolerances were so bad it effected my eyes to the point I had trouble driving. I wore glasses in 1997 even though my eyesight was nearly perfect. As soon as I started adhering to avoiding foods on the list from the Natural medicine practitioner my eyes and back got better. I had chronic sore throats and burning sinuses to the point my sinuses felt like they were on fire. The sore throats were so bad it felt like a knife had cut from the tip of my tongue back down to my throat. Even talking was difficult some days to the point it sounded like I had a lisp. Because of the health problems I couldn't hold jobs well or make much money. So I didn't have money to start doing tests like a Doctor at the Rochester Mayo Clinic suggested in the early 90's. In order to perform at my job and sharpen my dopey mind I'd eat Snickers or other candy bars and donuts. Same thing I'd do if I had a project to do at my shop,,, I'd get wired up on sugar,,, otherwise I'd have trouble accomplishing anything. I tried mowing lawns daytime and delivering pizza evenings. I was very depressed and didn't keep a good consistent mowing schedule which bothered my customers. I couldn't put my heart into mowing lawns. I experienced suicidal level depression at times. All this time my family told me to stop faking it and pull my head out of my ass. I found a very bright Doctor in 2004 and started seeing him. Hypoglycemia was the first thing diagnosed. If he had tested me for Lyme at that time I would have been negative. He suggested I get off sugar, wheat and dairy and I didn't listen to him. Many more Doctor appointments with him and he was scratching his head. I threw up my hands on it and didn't see him for almost 5 years until December 2012 when he said Boyd I think you have Lyme. 1st test had indicated Lyme but was about 0.5% short of being a positive. Blood culture test was positive at the very end of the 16 week test as my blood was growing. Lyme diagnosis June 20 2013. 1st try with one antibiotic gave me bad Herxhiemer response and I couldn't drive. My income is delivering pizza. No savings to live on. Heart pains started August 2014 and my health continued to decline. Lyme induced dimensia started March of 2015. Purepaleo Protein from Designs For Health brought my mind back from the brink of having to quit working and driving. I started Minocycline and Metronidazole late May 2015. I had a strong metal taste in my mouth for several weeks in June. If I had any dairy my farts were enough to literally clear out a room. I finished the antibiotics late January 2016 and felt good February, March and into April. My lower left arm ached almost all of April. I had broken that arm when I was 14. Lyme returned fast in about 10 days in late May 2016. I went on a natural medicine antibiotic and my health improved. I stopped antibiotics late April 2017 so all the antibiotics is clear of my body late June 2017 for a T-cell provocation test done by a lab in Germany. My LLMD (Lyme Litterate Medical Doctor) thinks I might be free of Lyme but I'm not holding my breath. It's been hell. I've had this since my teens and I'm 50 now. Had it through the prime of my life. I wanted to have a manufacturing business and work my butt off so I could drive a Ferrari. I tested at 150 genius IQ at age 14. My life is nowhere near the life I had planned. I live with my mom and deliver pizza. No wife, kids, house or collection of old Mustangs. I could write more. Thankfully I only have Boriella. Without a diagnosis and antibiotics I'd be dead by now.

Boyd W I have been affected with Lyme since my mid thirties. When I was 7 1/2 months I had polio, during my formative years had three corrective surgeries and wore a brace. Shen I was 15 I thought I could forget about it forever and got to quit wearing my brace. When I was about 35 I found out I had post polio syndrome and began having nerve pain in my legs and suffered some muscle loss. But that was just part of the problem. I had all these symptoms, of which extreme tiredness was most prominent, but could not figure out why I was always running a low grade fever. I didn't realize I also had Lyme disease. My last child was born in my mid thirties and she , of course, has it, too, now. We have spent at least $100,000 in the last 10 years trying to cure this stuff. I've been everywhere from traditional medicine(IV antibiotics) to natural medicine(frequency and bio resonance scanning and treatment and diet) with little improvement, at least not permanent. I got a positive test result from a lab in California. Where did you get your treatment that worked? I am 63 years old now and am disabled and spend most of the day in bed, unable to even be a housewife. I'd appreciate your help.

So sorry you are going through this.
I hope you are feeling better now.
I understand perfectly what this has done to your life as I’m going through this.
My symptoms started twenty years ago and I’ve just been diagnosed through a German blood test. Unfortunately I now have a lot of health problems from heart , thyroid, chronic fatigue, problems with my veins more autoimmune disease, anxiety and depression and food and chemical sensitives
I’m in the Uk and unfortunately they will not treat me as they don’t believe in this chronic condition. I’m hoping to get some strength so that I can be driven by a family member to Germany for treatment. Im scared to leave the UK as I can barley stand up but what other choice do I have.

I have been in and out of the hospital for all kinds of tests during the last 7 years, trying to figure out what's wrong with me. I've had a bunch of health issues like: hair loss, fatigue, brain fog, strange rashes, red and swollen knees, headaches, vision loss and eye pains, swollen lymph nodes, stomach pains, irritated bowels, heart issues, stabbing pains throughout my body, memory loss and so on. So far, no one has figured out where all of these issues have come from. Doctors have given up and they told me it's all in my head and I'm making things up. This has made me so frustrated.. Sometimes I even doubt myself, wondering if what the doctors are saying is true and I'm making things up.. Despite of all these health issues I've never really stopped working or anything. I even had 2 jobs working roughly 14 hours a day. Right now, I don't even know how I managed to do all that, but it did make me wonder if I was really that sick because I kept on going. I don't know.. It just makes you doubt yourself in so many ways. At this point I am just done with my body and I have given up pretty much all hope to get an answer. In my mind, all of my symptoms point towards Lyme disease, but I don't think I'll ever know for sure..

Elke Nicolai never give up I’m going to see a Lyme literate on December 5th for this crude I been dealing with symptoms for 4 months symptoms for me come and go sometimes bad and sometimes manageable. The worst time for me is at night cause that’s when I get the muscle spasms and jolts that I can’t explain that just come right before I try to drift off to sleep. Some days I just want to give up and say god take me but I’m not going to settle for that I’m going to fight for a diagnosis then after fight more to get well. I’m know it’s going to be long and hard and painful but I know I’m going to get better. It helps to have people who are having the same struggle surround yourself with people who live the same nightmare it calms the mind and give you comfort somewhat. For me I do a lot of research through the day to prep myself for what I’m going to be going through and what I need to do to help and fix it. BroScott 321 Sounds all too familiar.. I also get muscle spasms right before going to sleep. Especially in my stomach - feels as if I'm throwing up, but I'm not. I wish you the best of luck and strength on this difficult journey to recovery. It is comforting knowing we're not alone in this. Hopefully you'll get some answers soon. Thank you for your support and kind words! Means a lot!

What is the best test to detect Lyme? I have heard many people say the "traditional" test is not always accurate, and that is how many go undiagnosed. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

IGeneX. Some insurances (like Medicare) cover it. Or you can order it directly from their website and go to a local lab to have the test done.

If you don't catch it early the parasites will create a biofilm. The testing they use will probably come back with a false negative - i.e. not show you have it. If you get treatment, and get tested later you may show a positive result because the biofilm will have broke down. If you take nattokinaise and serrapeptase, these have been used in some treatments to break down biofilm. Maybe you could do a month or so with these enzymes then do the test after. Western Blot should detect it after that I reckon.

Where to send the tick for testing? also, if testing the bitten person does not give a real answer about being infected or not, how the test of the tick will give you the right results? After all doctors don't like to diagnose Lyme disease.

I got lyme in 1994. Got my diagnosis in septtrmber. Still strugling to survive. Have been receiving treatment since October. I have received SOT treatment for lyme. But I have many other ticks transmitted bacteria that make me very sick too. Babesia, Bartonella, Mycoplasma pneumoniea and Chlamydia pneumoniea. These I have to treat with antibiotics. Think I can't get completely healthy.

Some people are cured with antibiotics. Others may not fully eradicate the spirochetes, and some studies of post treatment Lyme disease syndrome actually did have “chronic Lyme” with live spirochetes found in their cerebrospinal fluid. More is being learned about Lyme all the time.
