Went lead climbing yesterday and went to the chaos wall section afterwards to get rid of the last bit of energy... And saw two fresh wb crack trainers installed on the 'not kilter' wall. The cardboard boxes were still lying around. So much fun. Could only paddle the whole distance up to 20° , but I'll be back for more! Envious of this amazing boulder problem though! But what an amazing jam session!
One of the gyms I go to in Canada ran a scramble comp a couple weeks ago with a crack problem set with the wideboyz volumes. It was pretty simple and they didn't force jamming though, so everyone just lay backed it 😂 But hey, at least cracks are starting to show up.
God, this looks fun. I wish one of my local walls made more of their crack volumes. The setters seem to struggle to put their cracks (original wide boyz cracks) to good use, so whenever they do something remotely creative (i.e. not just a big, continuous, vertical hand jam crack) then I make sure to pass on compliments, in the hope that they'll get the message.
Pretty sure that Soudain Seul should be 9A? Lorenzi who has climbed both Alphane and Seul and seems to think that Seul might be even or slightly harder. Might be wrong tho🤷♂️
Just giving some love to the two other climber who sent v17 and were missed in the video (Nicolas Pelorson and Camille Coudert who both send Soudain Seul with Simon Lorenzi). Otherwise video is really cool and I'd love to see the same concept with other v17 climber
It’d be so rad, if there was a way, to have clear crack trainers, to be able to see exactly what’s goin on in there. I’d love to see how vivid the red and purple is, in your hands 🤣
Is there ever a scenario where you'd benefit from a hand-foot jam? Like stacking your foot next to your hand? Almost looked like Tom was going to do it on the second crack on his send go😅
Will Bosi's King Capella has been downgraded by Jakob Schubert who did it in 4 days and Megos didn't want to confirm the grade after doing it in 9 days. Since those two have 9b+ experience and climbed King Capella quickly nobody cites King Capella among the 9b+ today. So Will Bosi isn't a 9b+ climber yet though he will very probably send Excalibur this year.
Simon Lorenzi who also did the FA of Soudain Seul 9A which was repeated by both Nicolas Pelorson and Camille Coudert, who are therefore also 9A climbers. But grades being subjective and all, and it's always tricky to make a definitive list of people who have climbed a given grade. Alphane might be hard 8C+ by following testimonies of people who have done it and applying common logic. Which would make Nalle, Daniel and Shawn the only 3 climbers who have climbed "undisputed" 9A with respectively Burden of Dreams, Return of the Sleepwalker and Megatron.
I’ve been climbing for about 2 months now. I’m working on getting my first v6. Should I be training? And what should I do? Love to get some feedback from anyone :) thanks guys
If you've only been climbing 2 months then just going climbing is the best training. Gradually increase the amount of sessions you're doing per week and focus on improving technique, movement skills and building a Base level of fitness through climbing.
FYI if you count Soudain Seul there are 8 climbers that have climbed V17. Also Nico Pelorson and Camille Coudert. The boulder looks awesome and I am curious about playing on the softgrip pro
Well only one guy downgraded it of the three who did it + Simon Lorenzi who did the first ascent also climbed Alphane and thought it was easier. So it's not that clear to be honest
Always baffled by the hate for Soudain Seul when Return of the Sleepwalker, Burden of Dreams, and Megatron haven’t had any repeats, and Alphane was suggested easier than Soudain and Honey Badger. If Simon thought Alphane was easier, and Soudain isn’t v17… then Alphane ain’t v17 which means Will and Aidan haven’t sent a v17 and possibly Shawn hasn’t either since he is the one who graded Alphane and Megatron… Think people are still riled by the “controversy” of having a book beneath a knee pad as though this somehow becomes aid and invalidates the climb into futuristic v2.
He's done 9c, which is a route climb (not bouldering). V17, or 9A is bouldering, which only these guys have done. Easy mistake as the grading systems are annoyingly similar looking
Gyms are really large spaces that take a lot of money and energy to heat, as someone else said. If you're filming a video alone in the gym somewhere where it's cold, if would be silly to heat the entire place just to shoot. Also I often wear a hoodie inside when I'm coming from the cold outside, then I warm up with it on until I feel warm without it.
Finally tried a crack boulder at my local gym! I'm a shit climber and it's a V9, so I never got the send, but I got the first three moves! This channel is fuckin awesome, always love the videos, keep on keepin on!

And send @the_free_soloist the NEW Soft Grip PRO-s!
@@lorvik thanks for the shout.
Not sure if anyone noticed but the holds are SOFT GRIP PRO.
Someone really should've mentioned this in the video!
No way
Thanks for pointing that out! I was wondering what material the holds are but I must have missed that subtle detail.
Thx. I was wondering the whole vid.
Are you sure the holds used SOFT GRIP PRO?
I didn't see any mention of SOFT GRIP PRO in the video..?
Toms enthusiasm is contagious. Nothing puts a smile on my face more than someone sharing something they truly love with someone else

you need to get aidan and will for a cellar session!!
12:50 wonderful proud crack-dad moment there
Alex Waterhouse popped up in this video too?!?! He's been everywhere lately!
And thats a good thing. Also nice that he mentioned the kraken! What a Boulder.
"Feels bad to the first fist, then everything else felt bad around that... Yeah it was good!"
Lorenzi said 'soudain seul" was 9a after repeating alphane. So maybe you can add Nico Pelorson and Camille Coudert to the 9a climbers ? :)
Is that Sam wothiaker Petes brother?
No relation. But both grew up climbing on the Gritstone in The Peak
Alien bloc in da house!! 🔥🏴🤙🏻🧗🏻♂️ go on Will, the beard is looking mighty.

Loooved this! Watching some of the best outdoor boulderers in the world practicing crack and just having fun with it was a joy to watch!
The track/song/music that starts at 8:22 (Kid on the move - El Flaco Collective) is an amazing bonus! Thanks for the vibes

Pete looks a bit older in this video
What do you guys have against V3 climbers?
I almost don't care about the content when such likeable people are having a good time (first time I see Sam W and Will B for example)
No problem, only took a pro comp climber to send it 😂 Awesome video!
Tried on of the crack volumes in Kolding(Denmark) yesterday, very nice

ah cool, you have some source material for that? I'd love to watch!
@@zbnmth There is a documentary of Nicolas Pelorson 2nd ascent on Mellow TH-cam channel, and Camille coudert uploaded his ascent on his own channel ;)
Adam Ondra?
Don't forget that these guys were once V3 climbers too. Probably on their first day of bouldering.
Aidan and Will's pics at the start are great...
Love the "this might be a stupid question" right at the start

Time for Tom to try Alphane and find some undiscovered good jams.
Aidan looks like he's cut to that V17 body fat percentage
I think they might be ready for the cellar
I'd love to get my hands on this. but i'd have to take a ✈
Every time they invite someone new it continues to prove that every climber is super likeable.
What is it about this sport.
hanging at the final crack at the top with hands looks scary

Didn't know Sean Murray from Hello Games climbed 🙃
I don't have social media nor the opportunity to attempt the climb in the first place. Best of luck to everyone!

Well I'd be up for trying the problem but not the 2hr drive there then 2hr drive home.
I'd rather take the 2h drive. 😁 Greethings from Germany ✈
Where on earth is the O dog cellar video?!
Patience for the best series of videos
Shame I'm not in Sheffield atm to have a go! Would be happy if I could leave the start jug 🤣
So fun! Great problem and great video
pete would flash this fr
7:30 A gimp suit for climbing? Interesting idea...
Drive down from Leeds to fall off this or get out on grit? Soz guys, gonna go for the latter
Oh man I wish I lived close enough to try it. Don’t fancy coming to Dresden just to set a boulder? 😅
Gym owner here! I just love seeing people doing hand jams in my crack
Have you ever tried to climb an offwidth with the kids hulk hands?
You should make a bag that you carry around with a hand-jam
When do we get to see the new footage of the O dog???
Must be labelled advertising
I thought you were not supposed to set cracks tapered down at the end because you could bone-lock? Why did you set it like this here?
great video though I'm pumped for the Patagonia trip that Pete did.
Man rad video mite drive dude, but dude please make the angle wider towards the bottom
I think you forgot Nico Pelorson and Camille Coudert
I miss Nalle.
I'd love to try it from Canada...
How cold was it in that climbing centre??
It's the most expensive one but basically unusable in winter 😂
I literally go, oh oh it's a wide pony now 😂
Is there ever a scenario where you'd benefit from a hand-foot jam? Like stacking your foot next to your hand? Almost looked like Tom was going to do it on the second crack on his send go😅
Hand jam against the leg is useful on occasion. AKA The Trout Tickler

Sheffield climbing gyms 💪
Do y'all spell queef q w i f?
Sam must be Pete's brother, right? I noticed the resemblance immediately (not to mention the surname).
I don't see Camille Couder and Nico Pelorson in your climbers who have climbed V17... Brits are good at ignoring frogs.
What’s that song that plays through minute 7

I didn't get that, soft grip pro isn't it?
What happened to the other Whittaker? Did you leave him in the cellar to get a new one?
Still in the cellar with Ondra

Can someone tell me who all the 6 V17 climbers are? I know 5 of them: Nalle, Daniel, Will, Aidan, Shawn. Whose the 6th?
Simon Lorenzi who also did the FA of Soudain Seul 9A which was repeated by both Nicolas Pelorson and Camille Coudert, who are therefore also 9A climbers. who is the 6th guy?
Actually, 7 climbers. I just never film my projects, so no one know who I am.
None of the Japanese beasts climb V17? I thought Shinichiro Nomura and his gang were V16/17 climbers as well
I’ve been climbing for about 2 months now. I’m working on getting my first v6. Should I be training? And what should I do? Love to get some feedback from anyone :) thanks guys
