That 2017 season was special. It’s the reason UCF and got the invite to the big12, and it opened the door for cincy to get into the playoffs, even though they got crushed but I think anyone other than Georgia would’ve been crushed too. They were robbed by the committee but claiming the national title angered so many people and it’s still talked about today that it was a genius move
And the game that got canceled was vs a 4-5 win Georgia Tech team… I think they were supposed to host the game too, basically 14-0 which notches them even higher in the polls
Fun fact UCF was chosen as the national champions by the Colley Matrix which is recognized by the NCAA this is why we could claim national champs without repercussions from the NCAA.
But it’s still stupid because there was an actually championship game and UCF wasn’t in it. Colley Matrix gave the benefit of the doubt solely to being undefeated. You guys have played 2 conference games this season and already lost 1. You guys also would t have beaten Auburn if it was for the Natty. You guys played a team that busted their butts to beat 2 top ranked teams just to be shafted by Georgia to lose the chance at the Natty. That bowl game meant nothing to Auburn. UCF played a shell of Auburn.
2015 was my freshman year at UCF, to say the 2017-2018 football seasons were a fever dream, would be an understatement! I am excited to watch them grow in the Big 12.

Just some stats. UCF that year beat 4 ranked (at time of game and pre-bowl) teams that year. Bama beat 2. Also most of bama's opponents had losing records. Media said UCF had no defense and didnt deserve but was completely ok with oklahoma giving up even more yards and scores. But what this video lacks....UCF did said they were national champs....but so did the NCAA. Its in the record book. Just like how bama claimed 1 from 1941.. in 1984...because some dentist said they were. Or auburn on suspension claiming it and awarding rings. UCF did exactly what every other major program did before them. They are officially in the record books. But that wasnt in the video.
@@joshuachadwick9762 Not true. It is still listed in the 2018-2019 NCAA Football Record Book. Page 115. NCAA recognizes Alabama as the CFP Champion, they also recognize UCF as a co-national champion via the BCS ranking from Colley Matrix.
I came to this video after Florida State got shafted this year saying they are not the only Florida team who has been screwed over by the playoff committee.
I hate how teams get their schedule held against them. It's not like they hand picked their own schedule they have no control. And if if they didnt lose any game, it's amazing to me they didn't even make the playoffs
Give em the title. Alabama claims many titles they never won. Hell UCF beat us and we beat AL and GA that year and they played in the championship game. Or what we called, The teams that got beat by Auburn bowl.
I’d say well remove UCFs title claim if Auburn and the college powers recognize that Auburns 2010 title should have a massive asterisk in that they didn’t play the best G5 teams….. Because if Cam didn’t play like a god, Auburn would get absolutely crushed by the best G5 teams that season.
Well historically G5 teams haven’t done this, even though they probably should. For comparison sake, if we look at teams that won major bowls: 2004 MWC Utah absolutely demolished their season. They beat 5 P5 teams 202-44, averaged a 29.8 margin of victory per game on the season and never trailed in a single quarter of play. 2006 Boise State demolished their season with a 26.5 margin of victory and beat Oklahoma in their bowl game. 2008 MWC Utah beat 5 Top 25 teams, including 2 Top 10 teams and destroyed #3 Alabama. This team was ranked #1 in the country by 4 of 6 BCS computers, but didn’t make the title game. 2009 Boise State went undefeated for the 5th time in 8 years including back to back undefeated regular seasons, beating 2 Top 10 teams including #4 TCU. 2010 TCU became arguably the biggest snubbed team in the history of the sport. Recording back to back undefeated regular seasons, #1 defense, #4 offense, 4 Top 25 wins including #4 Wisconsin, and a 31.4 margin of victory. While each of these teams are recognized by multiple NCAA polls as being national champions none of these seasons are claimed as national championships by their respective schools. However then you look at the flip side and you have major brand name schools claim titles for ridiculous seasons such as Alabama claiming a national title when they went 9-3 and finished 3rd in the SEC.
@@brian2440 I guess we’ll never know, none of those teams went undefeated nearly two years though. Only reason our streak ended after a loss to 19’ LSU (arguably the best team ever) is because of Milton’s injury, our backup qb was a recycling bin (great kid though)

Yes, all the polls and everything are incredibly weird. Even as the CFB Playoff arose in an effort to fix problems with the BCS algorithms, it is difficult to pull the top 4 teams from dozens of teams with great records on paper; a 13-0 team in a conference as uncompetitive as C-USA may not hold water as well as a 13-0 team in the SEC or the ACC.
The AP doesn’t decide who goes to the College Football Playoffs. It’s a committee that makes that decision. No polls, AP, ESPN, coaches, have anything to do with deciding the team’s that go to the College Football Playoff. If you don’t even know that, then you clearly don’t understand strength of schedule. For entertainment, let’s pretend UCF made the Playoff that year. What team do you take out? Georgia? NO. Oklahoma? NO. Clemson? NO. SEC CHAMPIONS, ALABAMA? NO.
