I really understand what was touching you, Kazakhs in general are very humane and open heart people, learning their way of thinking you start realizing the most important things, that we should be united and everything is not about monetary value in this life

The New Travel I think Rome, Italy plus Florence and Venice as well. This was back in the 80’s. First trip ever to Europe. I guess the history was just so fascinating and the beautiful architecture. The food and the friendly people were fantastic!

Beautiful! I often think about some of the overtouristed places you mentioned and how much beauty there is in the world that most people are missing. But, as they say, that's the difference between a tourist and a traveler.

Dan, there is a proverb in russian says "Большое видится на расстоянии" - the Big (great, important) thing can be seen in the distance. People do not pay attention sometimes to the things they have in hands, see everyday, so we all need that view from someone let's say not local, to start appreciation. Thank you for the Story!

Great and useful video! The symbols on these coins represent each "ru" (there is no English word to describe this word. But close word by the meaning is "tribe"). Each kazakh knows his ''ru" and each kazakh knows the names of 7 generations of his ancestors. Usually, we learn it in early childhood. Also, it is not allowed to marry, if couple has a same ancestor in these 7 generations. Otherwise, their child may have health problems (scientific fact).

In Colombia we were with some friends relative who lived there, we asked he take us to get some kind of local food so we stopped in a town called Soledad just south of Barranquilla, we went in to some ladies house, she was sitting watching TV and on the all newspaper clippings of her and some kind of meatball thing in the photos. In the backyard some younger kids cooking these and packaging them. We bought a pack then took it with us on the way to our hostel in Santa Marta. Not sure what they were but before we left the guy who was with us invited us to get some beers from a deli, then over to his house to drink.

That was probably the fermented horse milk, and yeah, it's probably an acquired taste that takes a while to get used to. Tried it too in Almaty. Didn't try the camel one though, unfortunately.

    • @TheNewTravel
