Marvel: Crisis Protocol is a tabletop hobby miniatures game set in the Marvel Universe. Players assemble, paint, and collect an ever expanding line of highly detailed plastic miniatures representing iconic Marvel characters. Players choose characters from their collections to form their own Marvel inspired dream team and then pit their chosen forces against each other on an interactive tabletop where the very terrain itself can be thrown, crashed into, and destroyed during the super powered showdown!
Sorry Rich but with Omega Red you do take 2 damage with Death Factor. The ability affects Omega Red and enemies within 2 with poison.
You are indeed correct sir, apologies for the mistake!!
how can Red take poison damage when he's immune to the poison condition? I have played him in several games and did not take the damage to him because he's immune to the condition.
@@bulwyf2572 Because Death Factor is not poison damage, it is an effect that effects Omega red as well as people with poison within 2 of him.
@bulwyf2572 There should be a comma after Omega Red to make the sentence make more sense. It is two separate clauses in the sentence. Omega Red takes two damage. Enemy characters with poison takes 2 damage. I wish it were the other ruling because my Crime Syndicate would pull Omega Red off the bench ASAP.
@@scottrogers3722 so this reflects his old comic fluff that he is basically dying from his own mutant power and has to drain life from others to live? thank you guys for the clarification. I only play MCP for my love of the comics and not trying to be meta gaming. I will definitely count the dmg against him going forwards.
I may not have the most games with WG but I'm going to try and convice you to play a great synergy splash character. Ultron Metal Tyrant honestly seems like a perfect fit for WG at the moment.
1. His grunts work very well with some of WG tools. You can put the grunts right next to the enemy and then blow them up yourself with either Dynamo beams, or Sovereign Strike (says all characters not just enemy for damage). And Sovereign Strike timing works perfectly with the grunts by first dealing damage, you blow up the grunts and they do damage, then the terrain is destroyed which immediately spawns another grunt. And if you play new Winter Soldier his Kill Box power also spawns more grunts. The biggest cherry on top though is that with the leadership they get to remove their stagger token letting them have both actions every time they spawn.
2. Ultron is just a great splash for the fact that he provides the damage WG is missing. His own builder is very nice and gives conditions letting you play something like kick them while they're down, usually on top of shock, to get 2-3 rerolls. The synergy with WG leadership and his grunts ensures they do the most damage possible. His throw is very good in general. And to top it off, his "bow" lets you set up more characters in Dynamo's beam.
And if you really wanted to, you can throw in Age of Ultron to make sure he never goes away. If you're worried about him having enough energy to use it, it already works with you running A&D so you can give him more to ensure he can play it.
He just seems like a very good fit for WG so id definitely give him a go. 😎👍
good in depth review as always Rich, Cheers
As we discussed at the WTC, you underestimate the bear!
I have been loving these breakdowns!
Thank you for this one as i enjoy playing WG and was quite interested in your perspective.
Hood in WG is great as you can free shake his bleed with the leadership.
I just bought the 4 original Winter Guard characters for $24 total in a store's 70% off sale. I already have Widow1 so I feel I have a decent core. I'd really like to use them and having Dynamo as a splash doesn't hurt. It stinks that Darkstar is so lackluster, but even just looking at her card she seems pretty weak. Bucky2 is another reason to get the new core set for sure.
They are a fun affiliation to play with and one that I think could be competitive. But yeah, Darkstar is very ‘meh’
I got Omega Red, I like Winter Soldiers and the RED TIDE!
I've been waiting for new characters and we're here ❤
Hoping to build a thematic roster built around the current Winter Guard as the core. How viable would you see the Winter Guard playing alongside other Russian/Slavic characters such as Kraven, Rhino, Silver Sable and the Xmen siblings?
Can’t wait for a Shield Affiliation one!
what are you thoughts on mayor fisk as a secure here? allows for big clumps of people for dynamo, can stun opponents for the power denial gameplan alongside omega red's poison and dynamos general shutdown, and your leadership makes the stun less of a problem than it is for most teams
I love the affiliation but am terrible at playing them I’ve determined. Still some of my favorite games have been piloting them.
Worth Noting Punisher explosion only targets enemies. I have used him on this team occasionally. I like to add Valkyrie and Vision as my 8 and 9 with Ulik as my 10
How fitting. I was just about to start playing winter guard to give myself a bit of a break from convocation, and this was perfectly timed! 😂
Update: I played my first game with them today against new Steve Avengers and I didn’t even have my full roster since I don’t have Guardian and Bear yet. But they still were incredibly competitive and the game was really close to the end. Crimson Dynamo does do a lot of work. That beam attack is great, and lining up that shot to nail 2-3 people is super satisfying.
I will play WG for the foreseeable future. I will try Newtron on them with Darkstar.
Thanks for this video! I've always liked the affiliation, but haven't played as much as I'd like. Now, with new options, I'm looking forward to diving back in.
Unless there's been a rules update, I do think one thing you said may be incorrect.
Omega Red will take damage from his Death Factor. The sentence structure does not require him to be poisoned to be damaged, just the enemies. AMG had used this wording style in other rules (which, of course, I don't have top of mind) (*edit: see obi wan out of hiding) as well. He takes damage. Enemies with poison take damage.
It means you really have to be careful using this, and makes him tricky to use well. I've not mastered it yet! 😢
Great breakdown! Not sure you noticed the title of the video is marvel knights. I haven't made any content on TH-cam so I don't know if you can change the titles after you post videos or not.
Have you considered kick em while their down? You have access to a lot of conditions and it could help Ulik's shatter hit it could help you focus down some of the bullies in the meta atm.
I’m not sure Winter Soldier 2 is Rogue Agent, unless I’ve missed an FAQ. I seem to recall it being said he was during development but this was removed.
I played Darkstar on infinity formula goes missing and just camped her on a back point. Having the extra power really made a difference, with her range 4 attack she could reliably build and teleport allies or give them defense almost every turn. I think that small change would be enough to make her viable.
Giving her the same ability Dynamo has where she can spend an action to gain 2 power would go a long way to making her far more valuable.
How would the Winter Guard work with Emma & Hellfire Club leadership?
If you ran Hellfire Club would that give Darkstar the extra power she needs?
Would Emma splash well in Winter Guard?
If you built a roster around the choice between Crimson Dynamo's Leadership and Emma's Leadership... who else would you splash?
I personally don't like playing dual affiliation, and I think other than Crimson Dynamo, there are not many Winter Guard characters who you would take in Hellfire Club.
I also don't think Emma is a great splash for WG.
Splash characters that work well in both WG and HF (imho) would be:
- Bill
- Zemo
- OG Hulk
Basically anyone who could benefit from extra power.
I love running WG, mostly because no one else in my meta does.
I’ve always fancied winter guard since I started MCP but was under the impression that they suck. You’ve convinced me to try them Rich.
I'm running the core WG with new zemo, crossbones and loki. Got my cheeks clapped by rhino twice though. First, and second, time id seen him on board
Rich, what makes you do this type of video over an ultimate guide?
Honestly mate, Time. These videos I'm doing now take around 2 hours to record and 2 hours to edit. The old style videos took around 4 hours to prepare, 3 hours to film and then 4 hours to edit them.
Fair enough mate. Appreciate what you do.
Did i miss a ruling somewhere, or did you just mispeak when you said Winter Soldier Operative was a rogue agent? AFAIK, this version is not a rogue agent. (Great video, btw)
I don't disagree with anything you said but man its weird hearing you say it, I remember that bugle ep with the full Winter guard breakdown and both you and Quin were very down on the affiliation, Especially Red guardian and Ursa
game state is constantly changing, opinions should change with it!
@@RichMidGaming Again I don't disagree, Was just pointing it out :3
Hey Rich, this is more of a thematic consideration, but do Colossus or Magik have play in your style of Winter Guard? (By the way, thanks for this content! I definitely didn’t just buy all the Winter Guard models this weekend… 😅)
Colossus can definitely do some work on narrow maps keeping your team alive longer.
