    Hi Victoria, I always enjoy watching this video. Your "brutal" honesty is quite a treat! :-) Best, Albert from SF

    Victoria what are you talking about? Your English is totally fluent 😂 For real though, I really appreciate how open you are with us, and this is why I really like your channel, actually. Your willingness to be vulnerable and provide some personal anecdotes about your own struggle(s) with English not only puts me at ease, but actually helps me improve faster because I don't beat myself up over every mistake. I could really relate to the perfectionism thing. However, I have had to accept that I'm an introverted person though, and possibly even more introverted than most introverts. I don't like to talk much in general... In fact, I'm probably happiest just alone by myself with my thoughts and books. Anyway, I really admire the improvement you've made and it most definitely shows 😊 And just for the record, I've actually found the nature of many quote unquote professional TED Talk speakers quite contrived, unnatural, and occasionally even possibly cringey because of how far removed that style of communication is from the real world. I very much prefer your friendly & approachable character, personally! :-)

      Thanks so so much for your kind words!! I truly appreciate it! I’m also very happy with my thoughts and books;) I’ve really been doing some good ol’ introspection recently about fluency, confidence, barriers, beliefs, etc. across my languages.. I think it led me to this video;) Take care my friend!!

    Wow! Those extrapolations are phenomenon! I have never ever heard or even thought that those variations could possibly impact my fluency! Viocabulary has always been the scapegoat in this regard! You are awesome! Mind blowing! Love you!

      Aw thanks so much for your kind words Susanta! I’ve been introspecting lately about languages, confidence, mindset, etc. and I’ve been making some interesting observations;) I hope you’re doing well:)

    Hi Victoria. I hope you are doing well too. Thank you for sharing your experiences in making videos. When we watch really valuable
    video, we forget about the creator's efforts and time. So once again, many thanks for your perfect performances.
    Btw Today is the
    last of 48 days slow speed sessions. After this challenge I will honestly say that you are the person who helped me the most in
    understanding American native speakers.
    Huge progress in a month and a half. Serdecznie dziękuję.

      Hi Emil! Thanks so much for your very kind words:) And YAY!!! Congratulations!!! I’m super pumped to hear that, that literally made my night!! Any specific things you noticed that have changed? I’d love to hear!! Props to you for doing the work and seeing the progress as a result, amazing!!

    • @emilsander4570

      The 3 basic things that have changed:
      #1 I was very curious what are the filters, you mentioned in an earlier video. Today I know.I chose only American or Canadian
      speakers,so as I hear speech I mostly recognize the American accent right away. Any other pronunciation is a little unfamiliar.
      One exception I found. When I listen to one Ukrainian girl who is a passionate about American accent and who has never been to
      English-speaking countries, my "filter" recognizes her as American with slight emphasis accent. Probably my filter level is still
      too low, or she is so good :)
      #2 I can easily recognize words whose meaning I do not understand and then possibly I check in the dictionary. Exceptionally, I
      had to enable subtitles in your previous video, when you used words "neuro rehab". I couldn't recognized them despite being
      rewound many times.
      Today there would be no problem. I don't know why I didn't recognize them.
      #3 It is more comfortable for me to listen TH-cam videos without subtitles. They distract attention unnecessarily.

    • @AmericanAccentMastery
      @AmericanAccentMastery  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Emil thank you so much for sharing these really awesome changes!!! I’m truly happy for your progress:) Re: neurorehab, it’s not a common term at all, so no worries there.. my husband and I also couldn’t figure out an unfamiliar British English expression in a movie without the subtitles recently, just FYI;)

    • @emilsander4570
      @emilsander4570 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is a fairly common word in Polish "neurorehabilitacja", but the pronunciation is of course completely different.

      @@emilsander4570 I would have assumed that I was making up "neurorehabilitacja" if I said that, haha;-)

    Once again, I can completely relate to your video! I am happy to hear that you have found some ways to make the process of filming yourself easier. Making videos still is difficult for me. I don't know whether i will ever be able to be in videos and have it feel natural and easy. Also, you are quite right about how blog videos on TH-cam are perfectly adequate with lower standards.

    • @AmericanAccentMastery
      @AmericanAccentMastery  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks so much for sharing Gregory! Although I’ve made progress, I still don’t find it entirely easy.. let me know when you post some new videos, I’ll be happy to check them out:)

      @@AmericanAccentMastery I was thinking of another concern when making videos: brevity and conciseness (or should that be "concision"?). I find that videos run much longer than I expect. Instead of not having enough content, I have way too much. Then I have to take time to decide what to keep and what to leave on the cutting room floor.

    Hi Victoria, Thank you for sharing your honest and authentic "confessions" with us! :-) As a TH-camr myself, I can certainly relate to you & your experiences, especially the last one - perfectionism. Best, Albert from San Francisco, USA

      @AmericanAccentMastery  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Albert, thanks for sharing:) I had no idea you made TH-cam videos- make yourself a custom image, it will let people know you have a channel! Very best of luck with your channel:-) Although I’m not able to learn a new language at the moment, it looks very worthwhile!!

    • @albertmo1722
      @albertmo1722 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Victoria, What is "a custom image"? Since Oct. 14, 2018, I have produced 8 TH-cam videos. My target audiences are Chinese-speaking English learners (I was from Taiwan.) My goal is to share my English learning tips and experiences with them. So far, I have had 2,000+ views altogether. It has been a surreal journey. I especially appreciate your 7 changes discussed in this video, for they are helpful to me. Best, Albert from San Francisco, USA

      @@albertmo1722 That's awesome Albert:) By "custom image" I mean the little round imagine beside your name- most TH-camrs with an active channel have a picture uploaded (or logo of some sort)- you can change it in your account settings, should you want to;)

    It's funny before you even mention number 7, I had something close to number 7 in mind. You know in the morning right after i wake up, if i try to speak English i'm always better because my windows (my brain) is not fully loaded😄 so i just go without too much thinking. I'm glad to see you're doing well. 😊

    I don´t really know what to write! It sounds exactly like me... Maybe I don´t have any experience with camera, but I totally can imagine how do you feel. Also that point: PERFECTIONIST...

    • @AmericanAccentMastery
      @AmericanAccentMastery  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It’s definitely a blessing and a curse, perfectionism;-) And it comes out in funny ways sometimes ..I never used to worry about my Polish, but ever since I had a baby, I noticed that I want to speak “perfect Polish” to her, and I got more self conscious.. Thanks so much for your kind words:-)
