My wife and I camped at JDSP perhaps 15 years ago. We set up our tent and went for a hike. We didn't leave any food out. Upon return our tent was unzipped about a foot. Inside were raccoon tracks from my wife's bag which they had also unzipped. They got into her skin lotion and tracked it around the tent floor, no damage really. Those sneaky raccoons! Enjoyed your videos as always. It's great seeing you visit so many places here in FL we have been, thank you, safe travels, and Merry Christmas!

"Cow patties..."😆 That tickled me.😆 You are so brave to go adventuring on your own. I used to travel to different locations by myself, attending concerts and festivals, or just go out to eat by myself, but never camping. I've lived in Florida for most of my life, and I have seen only a tiny fraction of this beautiful state. I have been telling myself to just get out there and explore, even if it's only a day trip. I am newly single, and you have inspired me, young lady! Let's see if I actually follow through. I would love to go solo camping and whip up a meal over a fire like you did! That was impressive! It was such a pretty dish and looked so yummy.😋 I'm going to follow. Be safe out there!

Great video! This randomly popped up in my feed. I live here and love it when people get to see the natural side of Florida and not Mickey Mouse. Interesting the part with the lady talking about Trapper Nelsen and people trying to build a golf course at that time period. Just last week some people are trying again and everyone here gave it so much backlash they are postponing it all, hopefully it doesn't go through but I guess when people have enough money it does. Usually more during the winter time when the ocean is rough the rocks at Blowing Rocks are more exposed. It's a cool place.

Yes! Datil pepper sauce is the best. I literally put it on everything. My favorite thing to add it to is seafood gumbo soup. Also medium sized scallops is good to add into your soup you made in the Dutch oven. Another favorite place of mine is Ft. Matanzas. I lived just south of there when I moved to Fl. There is tons of things to do there. They have a really nice campground. You can drive south to Flagler Beach. I lived there a couple of years. It’s a very small beach town. You would love it. You have to come back and hike the Ocean to Lake Trail. It’s really good. JD used to be a military base back in the early 40’s. They have some cool ruins that still exist in the park. My favorite is the firing range. It’s a short hike in the park. We always find old bullet shells from the early 40’s over there. There’s also a hidden steam engine just off of the Ocean to Lake Trail, in the back of the park. It’s from the old saw mill that used to exist on the land. It took me a month to track it down and find it. It’s really cool. Love your videos, can’t wait to see where you go next!

I so enjoy your commentary and the places you take us to as you go sharing the sights and sounds ❤️

Very cool, thank you for bringing back memories.
Spring 2010 amidst severe depression living Jupiter on the loxachatee family home I went to Stuart prevost dealer, left and stopped Johnathan park, the host couple had a lance truck camper they showed me, 3 weeks later I was in Georgia dealer with my new lance 1181 and two German shepherds under one year old. We traveled two years, 35,000 miles and cured depression (two time serious survivor suicide), I now live on 11acres off grid at 9,000' Colorado mountains near Keystone & Breckenridge resort's, minamilst heat strictly wood couldn't be happier!
Lance actually inquired to me about following journey, I didn't know if I'd live or not and declined, my goal was to get away not be known, pick a road to get lost & found myself along the way.
Clearly I come from money, possession didn't bring happiness, living life did!
Just sharing hoping to inspire others if life has you down, change it!
    Happy holidays

My girlfriend and I had a close call with an aggressive gator at this park. We canoed to the Trappers camp and had a large gator lunge at us while we were paddling back. The damn thing came off the bottom and almost tipped our canoe. No joke. Girlfriend was hysterical and I was spooked too. Quite the experience that I remember clearly 20 years later.

Gopher tortoise is actually delicious! They were a staple for Floridian country folk (reason they're endangered now). As a kid my dad and uncles would run a heavy wire with a hook bent on the end down the burrows. After you hook the shell, you pull them out with a 4x4 truck if it's a big one. Soup and shishkabos

Love the vibes! Was there any left over from the dinner? How did you keep your food and other stuff safe from racoon and other critters?

Was there 35 years ago. Our first impression going into the campground was made by an angry huge (6-7 foot) eastern diamondback in the middle of the road. I think it had been struck by a vehicle. Also, a fire had ravaged much of the park. And the raccoons were very aggressive. And we took a canoe ride on the alligator infested river. And alligators were swimming at the beach. But we still enjoyed our stay. Nothing like a Florida style camping weekend!

Another cool camp video!! I'll have to check out that park next time I'm in South Florida. I'm in the panhandle if you ever come up this way.😊

Lol, I knew right away you weren't going to cook a gopher tortoise. I've watched your hiking videos, but I watch your others too, and enjoy how you include a variety of facets. Not that I would know, as I'm not sophisticated about video, but the production quality seemed great too. In other words, I enjoyed it a lot.

Great video. I’m coming down to hike in the Everglades again soon and I’m hoping to get some better video this next time.

Very cool spot. We went there after seeing your video.
Great place to spend half a day with a picnic lunch.
