    Yeah, as you have found you really don’t need that much right rudder trim on take off, I’ve found setting the indicator to one or two clicks after the right line is good for my flights so far.

    I love the Kodiak such a good add on for MSFS. Attention to detail like being able to blow the engine on start up and apparently over exerting the engine for an extended period is modelled. Stalling this aircraft on final like I have done then trying to correct it quickly with thrust doesn't usually have a good ending so you need to be careful with airspeed. My only criticism is a tablet would have been handy like other add ons eg. like turning passengers on and off amongst other things.

    • @theworldssexiestman
      @theworldssexiestman ปีที่แล้ว

      agree, a tablet would have made this aircraft even better. We have got used to them in other aircraft so hopefully this will be an update later.

    Woohoo, I knew you would love it too. Right up our GA alley. With the recent patch, the "left nose-dive" is reasonably well controlled, but you still need to fly it well. Quatam is back on my frequent flyer list. Soon, when the Kodiak Float version comes out (separate, smaller purchase) BC and all its seaplane bases will be near heaven.

      @@beepIL There are two things you can do to improve the FPS performance on the Kodiak. First pop the fuse for the standby display to the left of the PFD. That little secondary display is an FPS hog. The fuse is on the bottom row. It’s a three-amp fuse about in the middle. The second thing you can do is go into the display settings on the Kodiac’s PFD and turn off 3-D terrain display. Hope this helps. Happy flying.

    • @otterspocket2826
      @otterspocket2826 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you confusing strobe lights with the rotating beacon? Strobes are typically only turned on as you enter the runway, and off as you leave it, much like the landing lights - their high intensity can be very disorientating to other aircraft if used on the ground.
      As for position/nav lights, it seems to come down to personal preferrence. I was taught beacon before starting (as soon as you switch the battery on actually) and nav lights before taxying, but a lot of people put both on together.

    • @737sst
      @737sst 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@otterspocket2826 Yes, my bad. I meant the beacon. Maybe there is a difference between airliners and GA. And maybe personal preferences play a part as well. Thank you for correcting.

    Happy New Year SHFS! Nice Kodiak video!! It has become my favorite aircraft as well. I do have one question though. You didn't include a co-pilot in your flight, but I'm curious if you've used a co-pilot on other Kodiak flights? If so, did they show up in the outside view? My co-pilot does not show up in any view, even though I have one selected in the main sim settings and I fill out their weight on the weight and balance screen. Makes me wonder if it's tied to the specific model of Kodiak I've been using. So far I've only used the mixed cargo/passenger version with Tundra tires. I may have to switch to one of the others and see what happens.

    How to you get the dedicated camera view of the complete MFD? I have been unable to do this, no matter how I turn the hat switch on my Logitech Flight yoke? Is there's a keyboard shortcut? I haven't found it yet. I like to enter flight plans in the G1000NXi. In other GA planes I do this in the MFD, with a dedicated camera view that allows me to turn knobs, push buttons, and so forth with my mouse. In other planes, the dedicated view in my 27-inch monitor is large enough to see everything clearly. But I can't get a dedicated view of the Kodiak's MFD that includes its knobs and buttons. So I have to enter flight plans in the PFD's FPL inset screen, which is difficult to see and manage.

      @@SimHangerFS I'm not sure I understand your answer to this one. I have rarely used the in-sim checklist feature in MSFS 2020 because I mostly flew the 172 and have real-world checklists for that. However, when I got the Kodiak, I had to find something to get me started so I used the In-sim checklist that came with the plane. I can scroll through the many items and check them off as I go and, as you mentioned, the sim points out the items in the cockpit to help familiarize you with their location. So what functions are missing in the Kodiak in-sim checklist? (as I mentioned, I'm not exactly familiar with all the possibilities with regard to the built-in MSFS 2020 checklist feature.)

    • @WhiteHawk77
      @WhiteHawk77 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Here’s another answer as someone who is fed up with devs either not using the in sim checklist system at all or not bothering to use it to its fullest potential. With this particular plane, which is a good plane but unfortunately the checklist is a mess. At least it’s there, but many items do not have a camera setup, many items do not have highlights, and many items do not recognise what state the item is in and respond accordingly with the Evaluation option that reads out each one. It also has other issues like a couple of things having placeholder text. It’s the one area that really needs a lot of work.
      Fortunately though it’s not a super complex plane, Quest went for a streamlined and low workload setup so after a few flights it’s pretty easy with a normal PDF checklist.

      @@goalski134 no problem. I hate a fair few design decisions Asobo have made with this sim, but the checklist system isn’t one of them, they got that right, but then so few use it. In fact I’m not sure any addon plane does completely for every item, not the ones I’ve got anyway, so that sucks as one of major frustrations is knowing where things are and what things are in a new plane. But I do highly recommend picking this plane up regardless of the state of the checklist right now, as I said the cockpit isn’t as busy as some other planes, just a few flights on my New Zealand end to end tour and I’m pretty comfortable with it now.

    Just a couple of questions.
    I use Navigraph charts in VR. When I open charts and login and use my mouse to say lookup an airport code, I lose the ability to use my honeycomb controls.and lose control of the aircraft. Does anyone else find this issue?
    Also I have not been able to get the landing lights switch configured to the Alpha yoke. Can anyone share what light command they are using in MSFS to configure this switch to the alpha yoke? Is there anyway we can share the config profiles for the alpha and bravo for this aircraft?
    I use the HP Reverb G2. In the General Options menu under camera tab, there is a setting called "home cockpit mode" Should this be enabled when using the sim in VR?
    I appreciate your help.
    Thanks

      I’m able to use Navigraph in vr and honeycomb TQ no problem. You do need to click back on the sim though. I will be doing a switch config guide soon on the channel.

    Bugs already reported already, well done! Nothing released is ever spot on. Buy something and await a bug fix. Choose which platform to by to get your bug fix.....tiresome?
