fun fact: the player can't get random mechanical failiures in career mode (so unless you break the engine on purpose you have nothing to worry about there) but for reference in the world championship mode you can lose a gear, your rear wing can fall off without it being due to an accident, your engine can die on it's own, etc

I have played this game religiously before Codemasters took over the licence and I can assure you that I have had races in career mode where I have had gears missing, jumping from 4th to 6th gear, leading a Grand Prix comfortably only for my engine to let go on me. I have been fired before for blowing up in a race (though that was because I kept crashing :face_with_hand_over_mouth:), it's rare for sure, but they do happen, I have played this game since 2008 after all.
@@Saturn185 unfortunately I haven't captured any of my instances of it occurring, I know the failures you're on about, the reason you may have not seen them is they're incredibly rare occurrence, you'd run out of fuel more times than these issues occurring. I am adamant this had happened during my career mode saves. Unfortunately though my old PS3 had all my saves on it and it YLOD on me and had to be repaired then it just overheated all the time so had to get a slim and I haven't played this game in some time now so it may be a case of I may have misremembered where it occurs on the game, you may be correct, but I remember being on a straight in the lead of the Malaysian GP and all of a sudden the engine note cuts and I gradually slow with smoke billowing out the back of the car.
