  • One of rock and roll's most under the radar guitarists. Jonny Buckland the guitarist from Coldplay has been influencing guitarists for the last decade more than you might think. Baxter and Jonathan break down why Jonny Is so cool.... and a great guitar player.

Nice to see some recognition for Jonny. Just as you mentioned, he doesn't play traditional guitar solos but supports songs by playing what he thinks they need. Whether that be a more complex riff or just a few simple notes. That being said his solo on Hurts Like Heaven is probably my favorite. Great video guys!

Ya'll are celebrating Johnny for being this really scientific and ethereal guitar player, but I have a feeling you would probably dump all over Edge from U2. Johnny's clearly highly influenced by Edge both from a gear perspective and stylistically. The big difference is that Johnny doesn't use the dotted 8th as dominantly.

Then collin is an absolute beast of a bassist and plays so well with phil, whos one of my favorite drummers. Really is a band where all the members are top of the line musicians. They also tend to write/craft the songs together and share songwriting credits. Bands that do that seem to stick it out for the long haul with all the original members still together, even after decades.

Their guitar work is often characterized by gorgeous chords, tasteful changes, and beautiful textures. I think it's unbelievably lazy to dismiss their work and talent out of hand- this is coming from someone who doesn't typically listen to them.
