Japanese knot bag - summer crochet bag pattern

Hey friends☀️
It's nearly summertime and I can't stop making cute crochet bags to match my summer outfits! Today I want to share with you a new design I came up with, inspired by Japanese knot bags😊
You will need:
- thick cotton yarn for hook size 6-7, I am using Gründl King Cotton x 3 (150 g or 225m)
- crochet hook size 6
- tapestry needle
- scissors
This pattern is beginner-friendly and so satisfying to make! The finished bag measures around 20 cm in width and 33 cm in height (longer strap included).

I've watched a lot of knot bag tutorials but this one surpasses them all. The simplicity of the stitch is really effective plus I love the construction. It is so much more attractive than adding straps on after to the body. This is my next project. Thankyou.

just multiply every rows, i did multiply 1,3 in every rows

Do you drop a stitch when you start the second half of the small strap because the math doesn’t add up? You’d have 36 stitches left if you start in the 29th stitch not 35?… or am i wrong??

hi ! I started the bag but i’m using raffia I did 3 rows and my 3 rows are twisting I wanted to know if this is normal or if I should crochet with a higher tension?

Hi! Usually tension only adds twisting, so I would try to crochet more loosely or size up the hook☺️
