Allright Matt,long time fan of your podcasts and love the background shots of the beautiful countryside of our green and pleasant land! like you (and alot of fight fans) Don Frye is one of my favourite fighters because 1.he took on anyone,he ducked no-one 2.he was (and still is)as hard as nails 3.he's a real man's man 4.and a great charachter with great homour 5.his wrestling skill as well as his punching power and fighting know how 6.his humbleness and humility (as shown when he visited the japanese fighter in hospital and after winning his fights he raised his opponants hand = a true LEGEND! great to see you looking well matt and i'm also going on a water based fasting diet,going for a good walk in the local park and also doin sit-ups...have to do this at my own pace (being 61 years old and using a walking stick) just sti k with it and hopefully that belly fat i've got will be long gawn and it DEFINITELY ain't comin back...i was stuck indoors not feelin too good but i just give meself a bit of a talkin to "come on old sahn i won't lose that belly sittin indoors doin f**kall,git ur arris out doors and excercise and walk and you'll feel much better!" loved your podcast with the great Ricky Grover talkin about "bill the bomb" and "charlie bronson"...keep up the excellent content and stay well geezer take care all the best,love and peace to you out there cheers mate,see ya.

Over the moon you covered Don, one of the all time greats, and in my opinion, fought in the toughest era of UFC.
And apart from being one of the toughest in MMA history, up there with the likes of Mark Hunt for sheer toughness, but, he is one hell of a character, the type you'd love to have a beer with 👍🏻

Sadly I didn't get to witness Don's fighting career at the time, and I suppose, like many, we're enjoying it via great videos like this. What a fighter he was, and a character he is; very genuine. With his ego fee, down-to-earth ways, he reminds me of another legend, Kurt Russell and even bears a passing resemblance to him at 12:08.

It wasn’t MMA it was actually fighting with no rules but eye gouging he was a former pro boxer and wrestler ,it’s not like he woke up and started training at 30 he’s a wrestling coach from Arizona with boxing background,30 was very young , Marco Ruas was 37 when he entered the UFC and probably had a lot more wear and tear on him that’s why he didn’t last long after UFC 7 he lost in Pride and retired a few years afterwards .

@@mattlegg1976 yeah you know chap. I see the name when you posted it and at first I thought thought it was a pedophile hunters because of his name don the predator. Then I see him and I can remember watching the fight with him and tank Abbott and he nearly got done but brought it back. I think the fighters back then were just naturally tougher then alot of today's fighters. Back then some of them would be having 15 to 20 fights a year. The UFC tournaments back in the day would fight 3 to 5 times in 1 night. Nothing like how it is today.

The fight with Takayama is still legendary to this day. It’s tragic what happened to Takayama San.was awesome to see that Keji Muto took Frye to visit him in the video - Muto was a badass wrestler too aka The Geeat Muta.

Such a brilliant job of telling "The Tale Of The Predator" Matt! My Dad was a USAF Col. and Pilot and reminds me of Mr. Frye! Tough as nails, disciplinarian but fair. You always knew where you stood! Myself and my older brother boxed on a Military Traveling Team and my older brother always identified with the toughness of Mr. Frye! So when I saw this popped up, I immediately smiled and thought Spot On Matt....I'm going to send this to my brother Jay and make his day! Mr. Frye really is a National Treasure all around The MMA Community, but also a colorful and respectful character in his own shoes! We are the lucky ones to have seen him in Combat!
