Well the YT algorithm is getting scary good because I went to my first jam session today after practicing for a little over a year on my instrument...and I really sucked! It was very demoralizing. I'm happy I found your video, it's really what I needed to hear.
Hey please don’t give up! I ‘ve been there. I think I’ve shared this on another video but not on this one. When I first started, I got to meet one of my first guitar heroes who ended up being a mentor, Stephane Wrembel. I met him at a workshop, and he saw that I was very serious about music so we became friends. He later came over to my place to hang out. We played a tune, and I only played rhythm for him. After his solo, he told me to take a solo, I refused saying that I didn’t know what to play and was just a beginner. He told me that if I didn’t take a solo, he was gonna leave haha. That’s how I started. The solo was complete garbage, but I had to start somewhere… I’ve had many other situations like that after, but It can only go up from there if you practice and address the problems! Hopefully this story can cheer you up.
Denis j'ai acheté gypsy jazz technique et maintenant je cherche une sorte de banque de données ou je pourrais retrouver des relevés de solos de django ou d'autres personnes importantes. Tu vois ce que je veux dire ? Tu me conseille quoi ?
The same for me with learning english, we "study" english since kindergarden and i was starting highschool and i knew some grammar, some random vocabulary but could not put it together, couldn't write anything, basically I knew nothing an english speaker would knew. Then I started translating memes and quotes and was playing online games like world of warcraft and i was trying to translate in google translate what i didn't knew and was translating what i wanted to communicate with other players. Slowly I was starting to watch movies with english subtitles instead of my native language and translating about everything i didn't knew. Shortly I was watching without any subtitles, could communicate with players online or with friends in written english and in time i was watching guitar youtube videos in english all day and that's how I learnt. My speaking doesn't have native accents by any means but that will come by simply speaking with english speakers more. Just made my first guitar lesson on youtube in english too :D With my guitar playing I always focused on playing bcz it wasn't something that was natural to easily do for me and I want know to focus more on the music and the rock blues vocabulary. I love jazz but I watch your videos for your general guitar and life simple fun wisdom :D
@@cechichan i think it’s fine to have an accent. I think speaking well and clearly is more important than sounding “native” which sometimes might feel like too much trouble to bother reaching. I think when I speak Japanese, it will soon come apparent that I have a slight accent. It’s normal!
@@DenisChangMusic yessir! tho I think you already sound "like talking japanese" you know? I 50% of it still sound like "me being from my country talking english" haha, Im sure some of it will always be normal to still have some accent from my native language but talking more, especially with natives, will be really helpful to improve naturally.
I know it challenging but how about a top 10 tunes every gypsy jazz player should know, how about top 10 solos every player should know. I know it has many factors but it would be anti treating video and topic I think. Best of luck. Oh I thought this comment was on another video🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hmm i’m not sure, but traveling to different cities/countries, these songs do come up: Minor Swing, Swing 42, Dark Eyes, all of me, daphne, i can’t give you anything but love, coquette, lady be good etc.
Very nice video 😊. Thank you for sharing this. If you could play 20 questions with anyone dead or alive, who would you choose? God bless the algorithm 🫡
As a fan of Denis, I announced that this channel has officially become a Japanese learning channel 🫡
I love how this jazz guitar channel seamlessly morphed into a japanese learning strategy channel
Obrigado Denis. Você é o cara!
Thank you Denis💪🏻
