Both front and back mounting positions give reliance, interesting results, through the view from the front of the handlebar makes it look like a pair of prehistoric birds of prey ! So glad you are getting some further sponsorships, including some great looking cycling clothes.
Enjoyed the ride through Michigan hometown the camera from what can be seen by myself made it all the better I prefer the front view of camera virus rear
Great video. I tuned in because I just purchased the camera and I am looking for the bike mounts. But I have a couple of questions. First is about the audio recording. I noticed you are wearing a lav mic, but I didn't see a receiver mounted on the camera. So I'm curious as to how you mixed the audio with the video, or was the audio from the Insta360 cam mic or from the other camera? The other question is concerning the saddle mount. I was curious if you can push the camera out to one side or the other for maybe a better angle? Third and final question, Does the Insta360 grab the data from the Wahoo computer? I've seen some videos that have data from a Garmin, but I have never seen the data from a Wahoo. I think the" heads up display" of the computer data is very cool in the video playback. Thanks for the video and thank you for including the links to the cool gear.
An honest review of what I think based on what you filmed, the front camera is good for shots where you are talking making it point at you but the other shots do not look as great. The back camera is great for shots of actual biking and no talking, or talking where you do not want it focused on you. For some reason the front camera pointing to the front does not look as good but it might be due to YT bit rate and stuff but in comparison the back camera pointed in front looks great.
It might be that with the front angle you end up comparing to a normal 4k action camera and it's not going to be as sharp. But when you have a closer object in focus it tends to look better.
@@TwoWheelCruise - oh I am never watching things in 4k, only 1080p, but it is true that might play a role in it as 4k condensed to 1080p would prob be better than native. Still the front camera doesn't give the personal feeling of seeing your hands on the handlebar at least - though I think it could be a good angle to showcase what you are seeing if you spot something cool or the view iteslf etc
Nice! I have the mount that bolts to the underside of the Garmin Outfront mount, but to keep my camera from slipping down, must use friction paste and He-Man torque the bolt. This mount is definitely a better way. If your camera mount rattles without the camera attached, you might try screwing a wingnut, preferably with a nyloc insert, onto the bolt to keep everything tight and quiet. I look forward to videos of you & Thuong riding together in Pure Michigan.
I’ve heard that’s a problem with that mount. The nice thing with this one is no chance of slipping since it’s a direct connection with no movable parts
I'm looking forward to see some Insta360 mount which will allow me to keep spare tube bag under the saddle and tail light. Road regulations require to have red reflector during the day and light after sunset. Good luck with this stick and still being legal or what is more important visible to other road users.
I've used a RAM tough-claw mount for 10 years, works great with gopro and insta360, can be moved into any position without interrupting reflectors or lights.
Hi, first time meeting your channel; it was the best review of this particular gadget. My question is, the only angle i’m interested in is the front view, but i use a -20 degree stem and as a result, the camera will be at a somewhat negative angle(just as the stem itself); so do you think the recording will be affected badly? Another question is; if we attached the camera to the back, not with the selfie stick but in the simplest way just facing backwards, mounted to the saddle rails etc, and got the remote and attached it to the handlebar, would it be of any use as a rear view camera, at least maybe for half an hour or so, like turn it on on the remote when needed and have your rear view on that little secreen ( although i’m using varia, it’s not enough sometimes, riding long distances on road shoulders) Thanks for the review.
Amazing how many options you have these days with camera mounts. Looks like they should suit your purpose. On another note, I tried using a stem mount similar to yours for my GoPro camera. I was having problems with the stem faceplate slipping when riding over rough terrain causing the handlebars to dip. I ended up buying a Trek Blendr mount that was designed for my Trek Emonda. I’ve had no problems since then.
Glad you made this video;)) I like the selfie mount behind the bike. I’m riding a Handcycle and need a set up like this. Can you tell me the camera model & the “selfie stick” as well.
It should work for that too hopefully Camera is X4 www.insta360.com/sal/x4?INREUNG Selfie stick store.insta360.com/product/action-invisible-selfie-stick?INREUNG
Both views are nice. I think it would be interesting to see the rear with the angle changed so the camera is a little tighter to the saddle so you can see over you a bit. It is about time action camera makers developed well though out mounts for cyclists. This is a much better.
Good point! I'm gonna have to experiment with some different angles and distances to see how it changes. I love how Insta360 continues to make stuff specifically for cycling
Great video Looking forward to buy insta 360 for future rides Can you lay out data screen from your wahoo computer? as I know it’s integrated only with Garmin and Apple
So, here's an idea, mount your Insta360Go on the front and have the X4 at the back for a multi-camera/all angles covered setup, which would also offer the versatility of quickly pulling the 360Go out of its mount for whatever. Of course, that setup would require more editing work, but, having front and back perspectives to choose from would give more options for storytelling.
Yesterday I also got the parcel from insta360. But I go on holiday now for one week to poland and Ukraine. I don't have the extension pole with me unfortunately, so I cannot test it properly there. But I am curious to see all the mounts, when I open it. Let's see...
I could tell you were in Michigan on that first lake shot. Haven’t seen any of your video since you were still in Japan. So I thought you were in Japan until I saw that lake shot in the beginning. Tell tell
Does the third person handlebar mount not work with the X4? It’s still my favourite 360 mount, as the carbon stick is not so obvious. This new Garmin mount looks good but I don’t like the distortion when reframed with rider in shot. Using a selfie stick is way more natural. But yes this one should pass race regulations - selfie stick extensions are definitely outlawed 😂
I'm pretty sure the 3rd person mount by itself would work with the X4, but the carbon stick will not support it. For getting the front angle, I agree you get a better look with the selfie stick, but it is not stable enough to use in fast or rough situations. The biggest benefit with this mount is that it is very secure and you can use it in races.
Babe I know you are sponsored, but babe I realized that you can mount the selfie stick to go across the handlebars and then strap in on. Nobody has done that yet babe 😘😘😘
Yes you can mount the selfie stick to the handlebars with other options, but they are risky at high speeds or bumpy roads. This new mount is so much safer and can be used even in races.
On the video from the rear it looks like cyclist i sliding left and right. It's strange as stick is in fixed position. Does it bend so much and camera moves sideways or this problem doesn't occur in raw material and i caused by algorithms trying to keep you centered in the frame?
it's mainly caused because a fixed object (myself) is being forced in the center. You wouldn't notice it as much if there wasn't a focused object in the center. You could also try to shorten the stick for less sway
It is basically just a notification, and is not required if that sponsorship information is included in the video itself. I mention directly in the video this is sponsored and it is also clearly written in the video description that it is sponsored. Also, this system on TH-cam is vague and broken. Many TH-cam channels do not use it (Linus Tech Tips, etc). More detail on why in this video th-cam.com/video/GrdFM_t5LFM/w-d-xo.html

The rider-facing angle with the handlebars in the shot is a little wonky-looking. I usually attach the selfie stick for that.

I think the data overlay works better with garmin stuff now, but I need to test with it more.
