    John Isner is the player with the most 7-5 and 7-6 sets in history, not one comes close !
    Most of his sets have 7-5, 7-6 figures, even when playing against the likes of Federer ...
    I think the reason is that his serve is so un-returnable that he's almost never broken, yet all other aspects of his game are so average that he's unable to break his opponent either .. inevitably things always go with serve most of the time !
    Crazy ....

    • @RacquetComedy
      @RacquetComedy  7 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      +88feji Yea that's a good point, his serve is wicked but I guess if you can't dominate in the rally's it makes it more difficult to close out sets and win matches

      88feji: he needs to improve his Bhand more. make it deep on the court and consisten to a point were he doesnt need to run around the Bhand and to hit a 4hand.

    Great video! I love to see the matches from this view, it's much more real!
    Isner had Zverev here couple of times, with those match points on Zverev serve, but also at 4/1 in 3rd set tiebreak and that easy drive volley! But this is tennis, sometimes we lose close match, sometimes we win! It hurts as much as it feels good to win, that's why this sport is extremely tough! Not just physically but mostly mentally! You need to come back the next day, or next week and grind all over again, and hope next time it will go your way!

    Love Zverev's backhand, he can do so much with it when he wants to. Isner's groundgame has really become stale. His backhand is not even close to being a weapon, and he seems too shy with his forehand. He used to pound the ball on that side, but now he is evolving his game to that of 2012 Andy Roddick; more spin and fewer winners.

    Zverez should use more slices against the tall guy. Keep more balls low. After some heavy kicking shots. Mix it up

    Shame Isner doesn't have decent coaching. If you have a 6'9" guy, force him farther in on return of serve, to get the point over faster. His reach will make it way harder for the server to get past him, and he's closer to the net for an approach. What's the guy doing behind the baseline? He ain't quick-footed.
    He should get coaching from Agassi. Bring out the turbo ball machine that Agassi's father used to torture him with and blast Isner from up close until he's comfortable on the baseline to return serve. Then play games where if he hits more than six times, he loses the point.

    Isner is terrific, man, he should really work on his stamina training, he isn't moving well on court, he can definitely be a world champion ig if he tries to work on the baseline movements

    Zverev just won an atp 1000 tourament title at age 20 while other top 10 pros still haven't achieved it. This kid is gonna go far.

    • @Hyde2142
      @Hyde2142 7 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Pandanucca the latest born player to win a masters before Zverev was Cilic who is only one year younger than Djokovic. Zverev is the first player born in the 90s to win a masters tournament and he is '97. No need to play that achievement down with Nadals numbers (like what is that supposed to tell us? That there were far more successful young players? well no shit sherlock...), it is still a standout looking at the drain of the last 5-10 years.

    • @Hyde2142
      @Hyde2142 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      What he meant is that there still are other accomplished top 10 pros who are much older than Zverev - like Nishikori and Raonic - who didnt manage to win a masters tournament yet, while he has already won one now. He was not talking about generally no one else accomplishing something till the age of 20.

    0:45 - After Isner's mishit return of Zverevs serve, Zverev proceeds to hit the ball in his pocket to the ballboy, yet the return that Isner hit had yet to bounce, it was still in the air, this surely is a foul!?? You can see isners returned ball land at the back after Zverev hits the ball in his pocket to the ballboy! The point is not over until the ball bounces out, regardless of its trajectory, even if it is deemed to bounce out!

      Thanks to his serve mostly. Look at his stats: www.tennisabstract.com/charting/JohnIsner.html. Most of his unforced errors come from his forehand, as you could also see in this video.

    • @michaelenns6792
      @michaelenns6792 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Wout de Zeeuw Ok, I get your point but it is still harsh to say that he has no feeling for the forehand what so ever. His forehand is better than most players forehand (in general/out of the ATP included)

    • @woutdezeeuw1604
      @woutdezeeuw1604 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Wasn't trying to put him down, it's just that the way his forehand is put together in terms of moving parts, he's making it difficult for himself. There's a lot of movement in the wrist/elbow rather than the shoulder/elbow, so the time window in which to get it right is small. So you're seeing a lot of forehands hit that are not hitting the sweet spot of his racket or hit with the frame.

    • @kentinmania
      @kentinmania 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's strange that he turns around the BH to hit so many forehands. Especially with "poor" footwork, he ends hitting that forehand to close to the body and on the run. His backhand looks more consistant/stable.

    My only irk about these 2 players is that they're so big they just overpower ppl which makes it a LITTLE less impressive vs Ferrer, fed, Santoro, etc. It's said that for every inch taller you hit an extra 2 mph on your groundies. I wish I can be 6'6+ bc that'd make the game so much easier

    • @lbjeffries
      @lbjeffries 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      But there's still technique to power. Also, being that tall, you carry more weight, which in turn, you lack defensive skill and speed. An averaged height aggressive baseliner can have an off day in terms of serve and/or groundstrokes but can still potentially win a match with defense. If a taller than average player has an off day, it's going to be a lot tougher to win.

      @@laurinraver295 not really. Ya they're clean strokes, but compared to some players even outside of the top 200, his strokes are trash. And actually yes being tall can make you good. If you pay attention, almost all matches he wins (and even loses) goes to 7-5 or 7-6, showing that the only reason he is hanging in there is because nobody can touch his serve, while at the same time he can't return for the life of him

    • @laurinraver295
      @laurinraver295 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @icebear326 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@laurinraver295 idk I just think that if isner wasn't as tall as he is he wouldn't be at the top ranks. Because besides serving and volleying, he doesn't really have a huge weapon. So if you take away his height he could still have a good serve but it wouldn't be nearly as big of a weapon, and also volleying is very ineffective in today's climate and the only reason it works for him is because he's so tall
