      Hi I took metronidazole 500 mg 3 times a day with levoflovcin 500 mg 1 time a day for what was supposed to be 10 days. But only could do 8 days because I developed ligament pain. Will these days be enough to kill the H -Pylori or must I undergo more antibiotics. I’m now on a 10 course of diflucan for oral thrush that the antibiotics caused?? Also pepto bismo and Pepcid.

    I am starting my first round of treatment today. I’ve suffered with GI issues for 30 years but this past year has pushed me over the edge. I average no more than 5 BMs a month for years. I had never heard of SIBO until I went to the GI Dr a month ago. I’m so grateful he tested me for it. I am so hopeful this is going to work as I have tried everything! I have felt horrible for so long. Fingers crossed. Thank you for sharing your experience. I’m trying to learn as much as possible so that when I wipe it out, I don’t ever allow it to happen again.

I personally was not using HCL while taking rifaximin, mostly because I had stopped using it long before due to it seeming to make my symptoms worse. The latest research-backed theory is that HCL makes SIBO worse for many, (see this video here for more on that: th-cam.com/video/dO4v69DhrOg/w-d-xo.html) but if you feel like it's helping you, this is usually what I suggest people use to guide themselves. And also with SIBO treatment, the rifaximin can change the composition of the SIBO, and change symptoms as well. This can also be a die-off reaction. It's a really good idea to retest 2 weeks (minimum) after your treatment to assess how things have changed, both on the test, and with how you feel, and to go from there. Keep me posted!

    • @ConfluenceNutrition
      @ConfluenceNutrition  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Andy, I used rifaximin with neomycin in Feb 2021, April 2021, July 2021, and after Clear Passage, in December 2021. Each course was 21 days, as prescribed by my Naturopath.
      I did not use herbals in between because I no longer tolerate them, and they are themselves antibiotics. I don't recommend or encourage continous antimicrobials/antibiotics. I like to retest 2 weeks post treatment, and reassess my plan after that. I also followed up some of my treatment protocols with antifungal medication, which also really helped move my symptom relief along.

    Hello, I came across your you tube and your story seem very similar to mine. I suffered from endometriosis and had a complete hysterectomy. That’s when my symptoms started. And have gotten worst. I have bloating constipation to the point where I had to have hernia repair . Again I just keep getting worst. They removed my appendix because my pain is very near the lower right side. Now they think I have sibo. My question to you is how do you know you have adhesions ,because I think that is what I have and what do you do about it. Sometimes the pain is so bad I cannot get out of bed. My name is not Bill, I have no idea why it says that!

    • @ConfluenceNutrition
      @ConfluenceNutrition  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there, basically, if you've had endometriosis, you can pretty much presume you have adhesions. Doubly so if you've had abdominal surgery. I did the Clear Passage therapy last fall, and as we delved through the layers of injury, there were definintely adhesions, stuck places, lack of mobility for my intestines and other organs. Unfortunately, the therapy didn't seem to really make a difference in my motility or long term SIBO relief, I think because the freedom has led to profound sagging and laxity, and I lack a lot of core strength at this stage of my life...so for me, i have to work on this, and maybe keep digging for my root cause. I'm circling back around to hormones being the main culprit for me...I feel you with your constipation and pain. It's also probable that unless you had wide excision surgery, there are still endometriosis implants elsewhere in your abdomen. Thanks so much for watching!

      Hi Emma, it makes me smile too! I will be slowly working probiotics back in. I'm also starting a course of antifungals. Non pharma prokinetics can definitely be used. I've tried Motil Pro before, but it gives me really bad reflux, so I maybe need to do some more research. For now, I seem to have good motility post treatment, so I'm not worrying about it. I just ran a test over the weekend, so when I get results, I'll be sure to do a video about it. Thanks for watching!

    What about your good bacteria? Did you have to replenish those bacteria?

    • @ConfluenceNutrition
      @ConfluenceNutrition  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Queen Girl, this is really individualized. Ideally, yes, you would repopulate your gut using high quality probiotics. However, this is a risk for redeveloping SIBO, especially if you haven't solved the original motility problem that led to the SIBO. Also, some people continue to not tolerate probiotics very well, even after SIBO treatment. I am one of those people! Probiotics bloat me. The alternative is to find fiber sources you can tolerate, and slowly increase them over time, which provides food and habitat for the probiotics we all naturally consume in our foods. Hope this helps!

    Digestive enzymes vs bitters?
    Which are best

    • @ConfluenceNutrition
      @ConfluenceNutrition  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are neither better or worse...they perform different functions. Enzymes help break your food down into the small bits your small intestine can absorb, and bitters help encourage your digestive juices, like enzymes, stomach acid, and bile. They are complimentary. Not everyone needs them, but you can test they and see how your digestion responds. Thanks for your question!

    Can spicy and acidic foods treat achlorhydria?
    Bitters are high in pH so why not neutralize HCL?

    • @ConfluenceNutrition
      @ConfluenceNutrition  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is an interesting question that I'm not sure of the answer. I do often suggest lemon juice or apple cider vinegar to help support my clients' stomach acid, so yes, acidic foods can be used in this way. I don't know about spicy foods for this purpose.
      Bitters may be alkaline, but their function isn't so much about changing pH as they stimulate the production of bile from the gall bladder and other digestive secretions, including enzymes, saliva, and stomach acid, which can contribute to good digestive function and effective digestion. Though your thinking is good here, it's a little deep in the weeds. Generally, supporting the digestive juices helps things along, unless you have gastritis or ulcers, in which case that needs to be handled before encouraging stomach acid in particular.

I talk about how to decide in this video: th-cam.com/video/01SpA3G9qu0/w-d-xo.html
      The rifaximin Rx is usually 14-21 days, depending on how your doctor prescribes.
      Eating dark leafy greens and digestive bitters can help stimulate bile flow, and so can supporting your stomach acid. See this video about stomach acid support: th-cam.com/video/zh28pEB6eiU/w-d-xo.html

      @@silentwords4607 No, I never had mucus in my stool. If you are having that symptoms, I highly suggest discussing this with your doctor, it's a relatively serious symptoms that needs to be evaluated.

    I had a breath test my baseline hydrogen was 3 and after 90 minutes it was 23. Does this mean i have sibo. Dr. Said no since its borderline but im bloated 24/7

      Hi Yilmaz, without knowing more about your case it's difficult to say, but especially if your gut moves on the slow side, this could indicate SIBO in the far end of your small intestine. Around the 90 minute mark is the transition to the large intestine, so that rise in gases may show that...there can be other reasons for bloating besides SIBO.Let me know if you'd like to know how I could help you investigate the causes! Thanks for watching!

      @@ConfluenceNutrition doent answer my question. Based on that specific number. Is it classied as sibo? 20?

    • @ConfluenceNutrition
      @ConfluenceNutrition  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@affordableaquariumservices1663 Well, like your doctor said, it's borderline. An increase of greater than or equal to 20 in hydrogen gas is technically SIBO, but the increase may be reflecting what's happening in your large intestine, since that rise is so close to the transition. Given your symptoms, and that test result, I would guess that you have SIBO, and could try treating with the guidance of your health practitioner, and see if that improves symptoms. IF not, I would look for other causes. Does that make sense?

    Are you doing better now? You obviously have something wrong that is causing this repetitive SIBO. whether it be celiac disease, Pancreatic insufficiency, low stomach acid, or something of that nature.

      Hi there, yes, I'm improving and my test results prove it (my new video just came out today with the test results). And yes, there are underlying issues...for me, I believe it's my history of endometriosis and abdominal scar tissue. I'm planning to address this summer with an intensive program of physical therapy. Stay tuned for that report in August!

    You need to find your root cause for sibo. That's why it keeps coming back and your 2nd treatment wasn't effective.

    • @ConfluenceNutrition
      @ConfluenceNutrition  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      HI, thanks for your comment...it's not that SIBO came back, but that it wasn't completely eradicated yet. This is why I advocate for testing after a round of treatment, and treating until SIBO is gone. Once I got to a place where I was SIBO negative, THEN I was able to address my root cause, which was scar tissue from previous endometriosis and surgery. I did the Clear Passage physical therapy program 2 years ago and have continued to be SIBO free.
