No joke, right after the Leviathan fight, my FC and I were reminiscing about the old ARR days and the Primals. We started talking about OG titan and how hilarious it was that he would knock people off and all you could do then was just sit and think about what you did. So as soon as the cutscene mentioned that we were doing earth next, we all died laughing.
Yep, all my PTSD are triggered again... And this weekend my wife did titan normal for her first, but her pc is not optimal so she had eaten all the landslides
as an EU player it was far worse back then, EU servers used to be in Canada... you would be out of the landslide aoe marker YOUR end but not on the servers. my FC called them lagslides.
Headcannon: Urianger named all the raids, because he can't help but use words so Archaic that at first you might think 'Is that even a real word? Is it just a typo?'
As a Monk Leviathan: No positional requirements, clear windows to maintain stacks, and generally able to stay in melee range if you play well Titan: Zero easy postionals, screw your stacks, f*ck you. Love this expac
I took my BLM friend from my FC into this fight, he hated every second of it and another BLM that I got matched with earlier than that said they were gonna change their main thanks to this fight. I don’t envy them as a MCH main. I had no troubles but I already can see some things that will be different in savage. *Cough* no marker for side landslides *Cough*
It's really not a hard fight for BLM though. You have Triplecast, Swiftcast, Xenoglossy and planned procs for days with Sharpcast. Just gotta use your kit.
Its not even a hard fight for blm. I was 3rd in dps due to not knowing the mechanics (also dying to a knockback cause i wasn't paying attention). But other than that we have so many ways of getting instant casts.
why in the hell would you want to do this for savage. Theres no possible reward good enough for the bs you have to put up with it. Not to mention the stress related to keeping up with the dodging for the fight.
The hardest part about healing this is staying alive to heal it (which is why I went to watch this guide even though I've cleared it). I still have no clue how I managed to do so yesterday (before any guides came out). We did wipe once, and the other healer's lb3 saved us from a second wipe, but healers have to be able to do all the mechanics perfectly (especially if there's no RDM support with verraise, or SMN......does SMN still have a raise?). Now granted, things like one glowing boulder with another not glowing reminded me of meteor mechanics and I had a feeling I had to stand behind it. Standing in the glowing squares and stepping off was like that fire/time boss in the Ivalice raid...so it was really just the landslide mechanics (oftentimes, I'd end up right on the edge of the arena and mildly panic every single time).
3 days late, but yes, thankfully we SMNs still have raise. It saved my groups a few times in the last two eden duties. If we ever lose Resurrection, I'll be one sad man...
Soo... A legit question.. Did my group just destroy Titan then? We didn't see any of the extra landslide mechanics. Nor did we have the half platform AoE. We also never saw anything as intense as what you show in the footage (ie. multiple chained mechanics). I'm wondering if it was bugged somehow maybe?
Seriously, the high level raids and trials have not been fair to the Black Mages. With all these mechanics, being able to pull off even one set of Fire IV combo + Fire I is a blessing.
One thing i think me and my tank buddy noticed. With Stonecrusher i think it hits the target tank with a small circle. If both tanks are stacked it will damage both and apply the debuff to both. Could be wrong but worth a look?
Thanks for the guide! It really helped when I first played it today. After 3 wipes our group barely made it in the 4th attempt. Personally I think this is a bit too hard for normal content, with all those instant kill mechanics - considering that most players do this via Duty Finder and that many of those players are casuals, that just want to finish the Eden story. They should leave such instant kill madness for Extreme Trials and Savage.
This was a fun fight and I felt the difficulty was fair. No dps check. No enrage. It's a battle of endurance and focus. Yes, there are intsta kill mechanics but those are the major ones. You can eat a bomb or a weight and still live.
Bravo 👏👏👏 for timestamps 😃! Something a certain "default" Guide provider lazily omits because they edit their Guides for an ADHD target demographic 🙄. Why bother using timestamps or segments when you can edit your Guide down to a "Bayhem" style visual bombardment _and_ machine-gun narrate it for a total runtime of five minutes max, even if _longer would have been more practical_ 🤦♂? If you _can't_ skip to a specific part in their Guide, just watch the video on _double speed_ from the beginning, right 😅?

I found the biggest point of failure are people who are too nervous to stand in something glowing while waiting for something else to explode.
They've been training us for that mechanic for a while, even in Bardam's Mettle

All of the knockback mechs happen faster than you can cast so you just have all the downtime.
Its an absolute nightmare for blm, but hey, cant win everything. We'll just have to git gud.

You get more comfortable keeping up with a boss. Shoulder tackle is the best.

Your DPS may have just been high enough that you managed to take him down before he could fully ramp up the intensity.

on the cast change aggro but don't move stay behind it, only move into mt position when last mt is hit that way u don't get vuln
It's an aoe so you need to make sure no one else is hit
