▼Synopsis
This is a special drama broadcast on TV Asahi in 2008. Set in the period from the Battle of Mikatagahara, where Ieyasu was defeated by Takeda Shingen, to the Osaka summer battle. It depicts the tragedies of Chikuyama Gozen, Princess Asahi, and Yodonokata. Ken Matsudaira gives a fine performance as Ieyasu, who vowed to bring peace to the land while reflecting on the sorrows of women born in the period of wars.
Tokugawa Ieyasu (Matsudaira Ken) is ordered by Oda Nobunaga (Nakamura Atsuo) to commit seppuku by his wife Tsukikuyama Gozen (Takashima Reiko) and his son Nobuyasu (Kashiwabara Shushi). Nobunaga got a secret letter from Katsuyori Takeda to Tsukiyama Gozen that says Tsukiyama still has a grudge against Nobunaga for destroying his uncle Yoshimoto Imagawa, and he and Nobuyasu had secretly betrayed him. Ieyasu heard that Nobuyasu had written a letter to Nobunaga stating how to unify the country. He also heard from Tsukiyama that he had no idea about Takeda's secret letter. He was convinced that Nobunaga had suspicions and fears of the Tokugawa, and dared to put them both in his estate to save them.

Ken Matsudaira did an awesome job portraying Yoshimune and Ieyasu. Those two Tokugawa shoguns were known for their wisdom and strong governance.
The cultural aspect of Japanese theater & acting quality is in many cases superb! The history of "Samurai Era" Japan fascinates me.
I really enjoyed this movie, Japanese history fascinates me.
Japanese history, culture, language, written language from the very beginning of Japan to as I speak I've always been fascinated with Japan and especially the Beautiful Gorgeous Japanese Women.
Real movie. love it. better than hollywood. ❤
Love Japanese culture, people, HISTORY 🇯🇵⛩️🗾. I've studied Japanese history culture extensively but I'm not a expert ❤
This is a masterpiece in Japan! 🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵⚔⚔⚔⚔⛩⛩⛩⛩🏯🏯🏯🏯

I did a research paper on Tokugawa Ieyasu and I only found one book at my university’s library. It was very interesting. As it was a term, not a semester, I had 1/2 the time to research, so I couldn’t reach out to other bigger universities, like those in California. Other books weren’t available on just him, but mentioned in as an overview. Boy I sure wish there was more available.
Well do what I did, learn the Japanese Language, I've been teaching myself by watching Japanese movies (with subtitles) , writing the words down that are in Japanese and English or in your case, Spanish.
I love all their clothings of both men and women, and their weapons. The 2 daughters of little of Nobuyasu are so cute like dolls.
Their attire is overly opulent for the time in Ieyasu's life.
Ieyasu was the ancestor of yoshimune but it is amazing how Ken moves or talks in this film remind us of Shin-San
Yoshimitsu, Ken masters and Shin-chan? lol
He was a descendent, not an ancestor.
@@Conn30Mtenor you mean Ieyasu was a descendant of yoshimune?!!? come on..really..
@@Conn30MtenorIeyasu was the first Tokugawa shogun and Yoshimune was the eighth. That makes Ieyasu the ancestor.
What I love about Japan.
They really cares about their history.
It's like the movie never started. Thanks for sharing though.
Buen dia. No salen subtitulos sino al principio. Gracias
I just really enjoy his shows or movies he acts in. He is a very talented actor. And that female actress in Zankuro and undercover geisha is so beautiful.
Good movie so far, 1/3rd of the way through. Great cast. I only wish that Kagawa Teruyuki would be playing Hideoshi. Only him and Takenaka Naoto could really pull the character off convincingly, but the later is too old now for modern shows.
In my opinion, ken matsudaira as a good actor and singer he may only be suitable as Tokugawa because of the soft style of conversation in the character he brings and the style of sword fighting technique...please upload more..thank you appreciate fans in SamuraivsNinja channel...
The family name also helps.
@@entropybear5847 yes agreed.. matsudaira name also among Tokugawa family.
@@spozz6633well, Ieyasu had been a "Matsudaira" before he was a "Tokugawa".
@@mariusmatei2946 as i comment before... matsudaira also among Tokugawa families..and it bring luck to he's carriers.
@@spozz6633 well, Tokugawa Ieyasu was born in 1543, as Matsudaira Takechiyo; in 1556, upon adulthood, Matsudaira Takechiyo became Matsudaira Jirosaburo Motonobu; in 1557, upon marrying his first wife (Lady Tsukiyama), Matsudaira Jirosaburo Motonobu changed his name to Matsudaira Kurandonosuke Motoyasu; in 1563, upon the marriage of his first son (Matsudaira Nobuyasu), Matsudaira Kurandonosuke Motoyasu changed his name to Matsudaira Ieyasu; and, finally, in 1567, wanting to start a new clan/dynasty (now, as daimyo/lord of the entire Mikawa Province), Matsudaira Ieyasu changed his name to Tokugawa Ieyasu. And, so, it is "Tokugawa" that's part of the "Matsudaira" clan names (not the other way around).
1:10:24 "Onri Edo Gongu Jodo" (To lead to a land, free from pain and suffering)
It can be interpreted in two ways. You can die and escape suffering of the world or, You can make a world free of suffering.
Tokugawa Ieyasu faced defeat and humiliation many times in his life (until becoming the Shogun) and on a several occasions, he was forced to commit sepukku. But, he is known among posterity for his patience, foresight and the great determination to not just unify Japan but also to bring peace, prosperity in the land and end all sufferings, misery of it's inhabitants.
Ieyasu adopt
Ones of Zhuge Liang strategy...
Open gate and play music...
I am glad to discover this channel. Movies look nice, plus original music. Not as new Shogun 24 . Is it possible to download soundtracks from these movies???
What a beautiful movie! But what an unbelievably harsh and ruthless society Japan was at the time! Ordering one's wife and son to commit suicide for the simple reason that your "lord" told you so is beyond comprehension for us...
Bakka aho
You are absolutely right, is a matter or culture. How we, westerns see life different from those who come from far east.
@@lennitdquezada44 Well either you do that or the Shogun will annihilate your entire clan...i mean LITERALLY KILLING THE ENTIRE CLAN including women and children hundreds of them if Ieyasu dare to act rebellious. Nobunaga did that just to make sure that ieyasu was loyal to him and dont have an adult heir that is powerful. His wife was also came from powerful family and have a lot of power so he make sure both of them are dead and iayasu dont have any choice to save his people and clan. This kinda of stuff also happen in many other cultures but in other culture the Lords usually will rebel and die fighting and let all his followers and families died with him if they lost.
It’s either extremely badass just how far they were willing to go, or extremely cruel and ridiculous….
Le Shogun Tokugawa était une grande âme comme un grand guerrier
❤️❤️❤️
Vous avez vraiment raison( pardonnez nom français, je suis en train d’apprendre la langue française)

1:00:38 The good ol' days... I believe there's a society left where you have to bow to the imperial portraits.
I really enjoyed the movie,a different whole meaning, different culture, time period, and different part of the world.I can't imagine what it would be like living in that time period, that time of year but I would be more willing to give it a shot as long as I can find me a BEAUTIFUL JAPANESE WIFE.
make sure you be in a samurai clan....if you are a peasants then you are screw xD.

The first Tokugawa was a gentle and compassionate man, and the next in line was good, but the 3rd Tokugawa regarded his grandfather like a god and ruled with an iron fist. The shimabara incident was when christian samurai and farmers held out at shimabara held out to the bitter end, but the grandson of tokugawa eventually defeated them.
That incident has nothing to do with them being Christians....these hooligans actually conspired against the Tokugawa with the outsiders like the Portuguese and Dutch...in order to save Japan from outside interference they act accordingly and banish or kill any Christians becasue they know what has happen in other countries especially in South East Asia when westerners came and conquered the land there. If The Tokugawa didnt act how they did during that incident im pretty sure Japan would be some colony of western power in the 18 century.
A wonderful movie!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I enjoy to watching this nice move😊
Very good thanks for sharing 👍
Strange vison : Ken Matsudaira is younger in yoshimune on abarenbo shogun, than Ken Matsudaira in ieyasu in this film....
Wow. The potrayal of Nobunaga is not like what im led to belive. Ruthless, cruel, sensless etc. History must be wrong.😂😂
What a story.
59:26 looks like a modern city in the background
Es un gran actor matsudaira
Nice movie!
So where is the young boy from the king/ruler son?
? Hideyori? Follow his mother....
53:03 If this was directed or planned: Genius. She forgot she had a husband when informed about Tokugawa. I've had this happen to me before. I would be Tokugawa in this scenario. In fact, back when I used to date certain cultures. A common tactic taken women would use was: "I need some space" or breakup with their bf, sleep with other men then, get back together on Monday if things didn't work out.
In Japanese culture of the era, even though a woman was married, her male relatives still had control over her, especially if her husband was a vassal of her family. So when her brother ordered her to divorce her husband, she had to do it. The husband killed himself, because he could not refuse. Do, your experiences are yours, but not Asahi's.
☹️ that would be sad to see what could happen with the man who his wife indeed belonged to the other powerful man. 🥲
Lady Yodo actress also played Lady Nene in the Toyotomi series.
The subtitles are horrible. How can they get get the dialog reversed?
🤩
Lo unico es el mono es muy ridiculo hideyoshi

Why the western Muzak all through this era. Shamizen, taiko, shakuhachi, koto ….would have been appropriate.how poor and a waste of an opportunity for this show to just go to stock music from the archives.saddened.This era is shown like a documentary
🎌❤️👏👏👏👏❤️🎌
My God the Japanese were so intense.....when and how will they rise again?
