I am a great fan of Fish. The lyrics he writes are so unique,so intense and full of sentiment that I identify totally to the things he says in his songs. Marrilion with him as a vocalist is the best group I have ever heard. I still listen to "Cinderela Search","Script for a jester's tear", "Chelsea Monday" and many others and I get overwhelmed. These songs are timeless and I can't help admiring and loving Fish even more whenever I listen to his songs.
Thanks for information. I just ran into Fish music last.fm site a few minutes ago. I see you wrote this 3 years ago. How the internet has changed time, our perceptions and use of it. *smile*. And now, I'll get back to discovering Fish.
This is so hard to be reinterpreted. Those musicians and backings gave their best. Fish got their best. This is just one of the best lps of all times. I first heard in the 80s. Never will forget these times of my life. Fish is live poetry. His voice cuts the deep music poesy. I feel pretty strong as misplaced childhood. Forever!!!
From the beginning, almost 30 yrs now, a huge fan of FISH; yep we're getting old..but Istill think he is the best poet and songwriter. This show brought me back and noticing others in the audience...I was just one of the many lovers. FISH You'll always be my favourite FAR OUT !!
he stands head and shoulders above many many lyricist singers and his work has a totality and wholeness of psychology and soul. He is a great European chansonnier.
Seen Marillion in 85 at Maysfield, Belfast at their peak Fish give a wee false finale song about 2 thirds of the audience had left the stage and the building after it, we stayed and Marillion came back out the third inuding me that was left went ballistic the other two thirds outside thought a bomb had went off, it had in a way Forgotten sons was played have never heard any recording from this but was without doubt the best rendition of forgotten sons
This is so important to my ongoing effort to deny my own aging process. Although I will cross a line in which "my" old musicians playing and creating killer songs will cease, for now Onkle Fish keeps my soul young.
Since no one has mentioned this, I guess I will. This is a performance from a fan club convention. The "band" was basically thrown together as a one off for the weekend. It was not a well rehearsed active touring band. He had not really done many of these songs in quite some time and certainly the "band" were not versed in playing them. This was a fun thing for fans and was available for purchase to support the music and the man. So I hope you fans of Fish have been supporting him with more than words. He has been bent (over), folded and spindled almost continuously since he left Marillion but kept on keeping on.
I almost could guess. But still they made it pretty and deeply emotional. That is the energy. Man, I got to say I love these songs. Dive deeply in them till forever. Keep on Fish, come to Brazil! Be my friend as you've been ever since. Best wishes for everything, everyone and whatever surrounds you. Lots of love!!! This is so hard to be reinterpreted. Those musicians and backings gave their best. Fish got their best. This is just one of the best lps of all times. I first heard in the 80s. Never will forget these times of my life. Fish was a legend that met with Marillion for a short time and then he moved on and became what he wanted. There is no denial that the man made the band and the music...........long live the music
Enigmatic and thought provoking lyrics encapsulated in an esoteric vibe. Fish is food for thought. Big fan of Marillion but fair play to the band, they done the business. And big applause for the backing vocalist too. Great vid poster. Thank you. 👏❤️😀
Age goes and age comes, passion still where its, Fish was a genius singer and lyricist. A voice and accent for every age and generations, my best song of all time is Kayleigh
Me and Marillion go way way back.Shit gettin old . But shit happens .. Thanks for this .Too old to rock n roll but to young too die.. That's Jethro Tull. That's another story xx
one of fav bands from the 80s , clucthing at straws album got me into alot of trouble when i served. even had that cassete signed by fish himself at heathrow lol
Yeah man... Misplaced Childhood & Clutching at Straws... I grew up listening to them, aswell... I had every album on record & cassette... There's a lot of nostalgia in this music, for me...
after so much years - again - remember - this Voice everywhere - that I m heart in the Youth yaers.. I remember with Love FISH You are Graet - we love You!
I wonder how many Kayleighs were either in the audience, or whose parents were at the concert - amazing the impact that song had. One of my friend's daughter is called Kayleigh.
Fantástico. Muito bom como sempre. Um cantor e compositor extraordinário. Muito criativo e original na forma que escreve suas letras. Com emoção e sentimento.
When Fish and MARILLION split in 88, both sides lost their old magic. Neither MARILLION with H nor Fish with his solo-band have this unique chemistry that created all those 4 masterpieces btw 83 and 87!
I also think they had a special chemistry togheter with the masterpiece "Clutching at Straws" ending it but some of the later Marillion albums with "H" are really good, Seasons End, Brave, Marbles and the last studio album F.E.A.R is among the better in their catalog. I also miss the sound and writing from the early days with Fish but still enjoy Marillion as a group, they are a hidden gem deserving more credit and fame

H-era Marillion has produced the best Marillion albums, including Afraid of Sunlight, Brave, and Marbles to mention a few.
Great comments but it is November 2022 and Fish is entertaining us fridays (or whenever). Thanks. GBG NO EDITS. Great concert. … and excellent backing vocals especially around 40 minute mark. Wow the music and the man.
rick stevenson Actually, it wasn't a joke. It was an exclamation of joy that it hadn't ended yet! But, I wouldn't mid if you posted the "Punch-Line" you got.
Patrick Mulvaney My mistake ... Another poster had said he listened to MSH/3BOATS/Grendel and continued (to listen) .. I thought you were joking about the 32 years of that single never stopping (it was quite a long 12")
Fish ..the Best theatrical singer ever. Alcohol and drugs have made him ready and you can hear that in his voice. Phil Collins has also been presented with the bill for his excessive life. Phil Collins can barely walk, always sitting at the concerts, considering the whirlwind he and Fish had on stage. My father also got it, drunk a lot of alcohol, had 3 heart attacks and is Dement. The human body is not built for this filth. What amazes me about the Rolling stones musicians. They seem to be resistant to everything. Alcoholic and drugged like swine, and they still live, even though they have some stress from their concert performances, it goes by without a trace , A phenomenon
Wish I could be such close friends as good enough to play with this genius. To bring out new songs with him. He is from Scotland and I'm from the fucken 3rd word. Oh, shit!!!

Fish is the man, let's have it right... There's just one other main component missing & that's Steve Rothery's amazing guitar skill's... Apparently though, this wasn't his usual touring band & hardly rehersed all the song's together, with Fish... They where thrown together, for these show's... So, with that being said, they done an awesome job, considering...
I preferred fish with Mario lion. Yes a let and we’ll singer bringS forth his feelings and heart. The lyrics music all good. I always remembered him wiH costumes in earlier yrs and a scarf. The misplaced childhood album and when he sang lavender blue in a kilt. A true scot. I like the way he waves his hand like a swimming fish as they play . I saw his daughter sing. Long live tHe fish
Lots going on in that first song? 16/8 at the start? Four compound beats and two simple? 6/8 in the middle with maybe the odd 9/8? Mostly 4/4 in the last bit?
@@carmelochiello4360 sono d'accordo. I Marillion "storici" avevano almeno un grande musicista: Steve Rothery. Il resto della band non era un granchè, ma lui faceva la differenza. E la band di Fish, purtroppo, ne è una prova
The video and audio on this are way out of sync. I jumped around to a few different spots and it's throughout the entire video, makes it difficult to watch.
no his vocals and movements arent in synch but who cares..im a fan of fish's as well back in the day the band was great with him. i loved misplaced childhood some thing sppl can realte to all his words. kaylee fugazi a war term meaning F- UP, tux on , sugar mice lavender blue in his scottish kilt on stage was hoot to watch him dance around. he has a new album coming out 2018 they say long live fish and i was hoping that is his daughter of now up there with him. he did mention he wont tour anymore then 2 days at a time so he can recoup bless him ..
RuudJH Nonsense! The Fish era and the post-Fish era are two entirely different entities. To the majority, Marillion, by definition, included Fish. End of story.

Forgotten sons may well be one of the greatest accomplishments of Marillion both musically and lyrically, in my humble opinion...
Forgotten Songs

Listen to SRB, Steve Rothery Band, has a fantastic vocalist. Better than current Marillion or Fish who can't sing anymore.
Fish number one
