When I was a young fella my father drove for a melb base company MBCV. This was the manufacturers bottle company Victoria and they transport beer bottles from all over vic to various breweries for refilling. In about 1964 the company purchased 17 new fully imported W model Kenworth and had them changed to right hand drive here in Melb. These were very basic trucks no door padding no air con but they could run rings around any other trucks running the highways at that time. They even ran them a A doubles carting beer from Melb to Darwin when the road was mostly dirt. Good memories
Thank you - absolutely. It's such a simple story isn't it? But a story with so much punch. Fantastic Australian history. Nice to know that Kenworth actually BUILD STUFF here in Australia. Cheers to you - Fletch.
Hey Joe. Absolutely. It's almost similar to Henry Ford and his success - it's about "timing"... Mr Cameron's timing with decision was perfect, and a time never to be repeated. Such a legacy. Cheers Joe. Fletch.
Great episode once again, Fletch. I remember the kenworth factory down the road from ower wrecking yard ( A&A car wreckers) on Canterbury Rd in the 70s and my uncle Ari worked there for I think 15yr started as a welder made his way up the ladder and even delivered one to Kyogle a long time ago 👍👍👍
A great episode, Mr. Fletch. I’ve always been a Peterbilt fan and am thankful I was able to drive one for a while, but that’s just me. It is fascinating what Kenworth was able to do to get firmly established Down Yonder there. Y’all Large Car drivers down there keep it between the ditches. Hey, Mr. Fletch you and Mr. Justin will never see eye to eye on anything will ya?!😅
Hey Donald, nice hearing from you buddy in the good ol U.S of A. Please let me know what part you are from Sir? Thank you SO much for your comment, it's greatly appreciated. Nice to know you are watching. Indeed, I don't think many see eye to eye with Mr Justin 🤣🤣 He is a great guy. He, along with his Brother Turk, run a fantastic & innovative business. They also gave me time years ago, to let me feature them on Classic Restos trucks Edition & we have keep in touch where can ever since. Cheers again Donald, I am around 7 weeks in the USA this year (2024) starting with Carlisle Pennsylvania next week. Regards, Fletch 👍
@@classicrestostv1fletch764 Mr. Fletch I reside in Alabama. A family emergency brought me here in May of 1998 and ended up staying. I have never regretted it. I have deep family roots on my Mama’s side here and just as deep roots on my Daddy’s side in Georgia and South Carolina as well. The Hollums (back then it was Hallam)family has been here from the Mother Country since August 1620 through Jamestown, Virginia. Keep up the great work with your episodes of Classic Restos. While scanning the background during this episode I did see a Mack Superliner. I imagine there aren’t many Peterbilts down there, huh? Especially since it’s under the same umbrella as Kenworth.
Seems to me we built several cab over KW’s in the Quebec plant in the early 70’s. I remember there was problems because of right hand steering. I’m about sure they were shipped to Australia.
lets hear about more people who own trucks FROM THE PAST e.g ABOODS TRANSPORT MAX KEOGH T/P SYDNEY MOUNT ISA TRANSPORT AND MORE YELLOW EXPRESS AND MORE
You got it buddy. This episode was to start the ball rolling, confirming my official association with Kenworth. Please give me some time, because yes, your little list there is exactly what's in mind to feature over time. Cheers & thanks, Fletch 👍
Aussie Truckie, thank you. Classic Restos Trucks years ago was my way of showing passion towards the industry. It's always been there...yep, used to sketch SAR Kenworths & ACCO 3070 Trucks back in high school. I am sure you can relate. Not every episode will obviously be like this one, but I will be catching up with operators when can. Cheers & thanks again, take care, Fletch 👍
Hey Wood. It was actually 11,000 square feet. It was measured in Imperial. That is what was stated in the copy brief that was given to me. Yes, I was also well aware what country I was in @ time of filming. Thank you for watching, I hope you approved of the rest. Cheers 👍

Awesome episode. Loved the Kenworth advertisement
Without Fletch, we wouldn't know half of what's going on...be it trucks, cars or bikes.....
Onya Fletch....
love your work, Digger .....
Glenn that's very nice of you mate. I always do my best to bring you what I can. Thank you very much for watching - it means a lot. Cheers Fletch 👍
G'day Fletch, a great episode, so much interesting information. Those guys in early days certainly started a legacy to be justly proud of.

Thank you Fletch. Great to revisit some of your best episodes and hear those people again. The Kenworth commercial is a work of art. Cheers from NZ🇳🇿.

Great Episode Fletch, really enjoyed it !
❤ thanks for a wonderful video mate 🏁🇦🇺🇲🇹
Without Ed Cameron, there would be no Kenworth trucks in Australia!

Thanks Fletch for putting this compilation together.

Absolutely Jim - awesome hey? Australian production...I think we remember what that is. Cheers mate 👍
Hi Fletch just seen the video and the bit on the Klos brothers, you should do a more current version on them with what they are doing, yours Ledgend.
