- SPRINGTIME IN ENGLAND & HOW TO MAKE BRITISH SAUSAGE ROLLS// Hello lovely people, Happy Tuesday! Today we're sharing our beautiful English countryside walk from last weekend. Before we went outside, Joerg shows you how to make sausage rolls which the perfect companion when you go on a walk. So easy and really really good! Have a lovely week. Kirsten & Joerg

RECIPE SAUSAGE ROLLS:
Ingredients
olive oil
1 red onion , peeled and finely sliced (we used 2 shallots)
1 sprig fresh sage , leaves picked
6 higher-welfare pork sausages
1 handful breadcrumbs
nutmeg
250 g ready-made puff pastry
1 free-range egg
a little milk
Method
Preheat the oven to 180ºC/350ºF/gas 4. Heat the olive oil in a saucepan and add the onions. Cook gently for about 20 minutes until soft and golden brown. Add the sage leaves, cook for a couple of minutes more and then spread out on a plate to cool.
With a sharp knife, slit the skins of the sausages and pop the meat out. Put it in a mixing bowl with the cooled sage and onion mix and the breadcrumbs. Add a good grating of nutmeg, then scrunch well with your clean hands to mix together.
On a floured work surface, roll the pastry out into a big rectangle as thick as a pound coin and cut it lengthways into two long, even rectangles. Roll the mixture into sausage shapes with your hands and lay along the centre of each rectangle.
Mix the egg and milk and brush the pastry with the mixture, then fold one side of the pastry over, wrapping the filling inside. Press down with your fingers or a fork to seal the join.
Put on a baking tray and cut the rolls into the sizes you want and space them out on a baking tray.
Put some sesame seeds on top.

Sometimes you can put together some interesting bits of family history in a cemetery ( churchyard) . Once found the headstone of a gentlemen buried next to 3 wives he had in his life and he outlived them all. Your walk was lovely.. thanks for another sweet video.
My sister told me about you 2 about 2 months ago. Once I got started watching your videos I couldn't stop! I just got home from 17 days in hospital after back surgery and rehabilitation and I watched you two daily and got 3 nurses to start watching, as well. Kirsten, your soothing voice got me through some painful rehab sessions! P.S. I ordered a set of British Boxer pajamas and theyve been stuck at FedEx in the USA in Memphis for a month. :(

Absolutely beautiful. The scenery and lovely sounds of the birds, the wind in the trees and the sound of the baby lambs just remind you of how wonderful life is. When Joerg was making the sausage rolls my mouth started to water and it did not help that I did not have lunch today. But oh my they looked so delicious and professional.

Hello you two ,just love your videos .I came upon them whilst browsing and really enjoy them The sausage rolls look delicious too.When I make them I use some stuffing mix and mix it with the sausage meat . It works as well and if you are in a hurry it saves time as you don't need to fry anything and no need to make breadcrumbs . They freeze too . I enjoyed the bit at the end of the video where Joerg stops to give you a kiss . So sweet , not enough kisses in this world at the moment. Take care we will be allowed to escape soon 😂xx

Sausage rolls are big at parties too in New Zealand as well as in Manchester.Do you like ketchup or brown sauce with them?You needed a bridge over that muddy puddle.
They are perfect for a party! We really love them plain but should try them with some ketchup or brown sauce next time. Hahah it would have needed a lot of bridges on our walk.

I had forgotten about the gates in the UK that start you on beautiful trails. Where we lived in Winchester there was a trail that you could hear the church bells at times a you approached. Such a gorgeous country! I am so excited to surprise the family with these sausage rolls. Have a lovely week.😎

In recent years, I have been to Scotland EVERY SPRING and have enjoyed the wonderful daffodil blooms in the countryside. It was magical. I missed this last year and this year because of known circumstances. So thank you very much for the wonderful memories!
And Joerg’s sausage roll looks a hundred times better than what I usually buy at Greggs! :D
Ps: I went to Cornwall with my husband last summer. I hope you manage to get to Tintagel, the castle was one of the most fantastic experiences of my life.

We had snow yesterday and today, so spring might officially be here, but mother nature isn’t aware of that fact. We have been in a partial lockdown since December 14, but will probably end up in a full lockdown shortly. The UK variant is rampant in my Canadian city. Rather get it under control. Those sausage rolls looked delicious… they remind me of my Mum. She loved making them and everybody loved eating them! The bleating of the lambs was adorable!
