Didn't we do this already? A person living a normal life, finds out they are the chosen One. Except this time instead of being pulled out of a computer, they are being pulled into space.
This one actually looks pretty damn good. Loved Cloud Atlas as well which was hugely underrated. That's a bit of an understatement I think. The Wachowski's are always on the borderline of greatness but seem to always come up short. However I have to give them props for taking risks. Just wish more in the industry would follow suit.
The original Matrix was good the others were crap. Cloud Atlas was a great film but one of those films you can't just go to and expect everything to do explained to you. Inception was another one which was brilliant. The Fountain being another. I think films like this need your full attention or they will be lost on most people. Inception took me a couple viewing to really grasp what was going on. :)
Somewhere in Hollywood, A Producer (Stoned Out of His Mind) Walks into a Warner Bros Meeting: "*Woah* Hey, uh.....guys, so I got this idea for a movie, stay with me...Magic Mike is like a space warrior elf who is trained by 006, and he has to like...find Meg Griffin and protect her before it's too late..." "Stop right there. It's Genius. Who do I make out the check to?"
wow. can't wait. the wachowskis don't seem to bother making films unless they're pushing boundaries. whether their own boundaries as artists, the boundaries of genre and their conventions, or the boundaries of filmmaking technique, their body of work is simply unparalleled.
There is a apparently a true story behind it: The Allies of Humanity. alliesofhumanity.org/the-allies-of-humanity-revealing-the-extraterrestrial-intervention-and-teaching-humanity-about-life-in-the-universe/ They are coming out with a lot of stuff on ET life now in the media, for eg. RT News showing Paul Hellyer (Canadian Fmr. Minister of Defence) who admits governments work with ET Lifeforms, and Steven Greer (The Disclosure Project).. not to mention Hollywood Films like Oblivion (2012, Tom Cruise) showing ET Life taking over in deceiving Human form ways.. and many more. Expect to see this trend rise as the years come by. However, many are warning there is indeed the "elite"s (elite only in our control system we subscribe to, they are not really elite in knowledge and freedom values) behind all this, knowing the thirst for this subject is reaching a turning point. Certain ET Life may want to use us for our resources. Therefore those in the know, are striving to tell humanity to not just trust anyone, that we need to have our values of freedom at the forefront before anything - because if we lose our freedoms, nothing that we value now will be important to us. Freedom is everything when you lose it. There are many good films on this subject: - Battlefield Earth (John Travolta, Forest Whitaker) - very good film. Suspicious that it was given all round 1*s by the established media, imdb included. I can guarantee you i would put this as no less than 3*. I would say 5* in the message and 4* in the graphics/film-making. - They Live - Thor 1 & 2 - Star Wars (ofc!) :) But then also we have to bear in mind a lot of this could be controlled to be the next -ism to fear.. "communism".. "terrorism".. "Alien Terrorism".. Bill Cooper thought this was all a plan to stage a UFO attack, to bring about a one-world government ..however that still leaves the possibility that ET Life is behind it in some way. I mean, i just can't comprehend that we'd be alone in the galaxy, so think it's entirely possible. Battlefield Earth study case is a very interesting one..
Dan Collins Unfortunately you just lost some respect from my perspective when you said Battlefield Earth was a very good film. It was so crappy I walked out of the theater before it even ended wanting my money back. As far as suspicious government activities involving collusion with ET(s)...well... I'll take the "believe it when I see it" stance.
Battlefield Earth! LOL!! Will, I fully echo your sentiment. I lasted up until the point where the main protagonist taught the equivalent of cavemen how to fly harrier jets over the course of a few days. Which is a LOT longer than I should have watched it.
Wow...this looks like a good movie..I might actually go to the theater to see it..there's not alot of movies that I'd go to the theater to see..well,probably the new Hobbit movie :D
I don't mean to sound like a hater, but Channing Tatum ruins for me what seems like a really cool idea. I like him as a person, but I can't tolerate his "acting." Mila Kunis doesn't help, either. It's really disappointing, actually. In better hands, this could have been MAJOR!
SPREAD THE WORD about this film, people! Let's prove everyone who's predicting this to flop WRONG. It's insane how an epic new original space fantasy isn't predicted to be the biggest movie of the summer, IMO. LET'S SPREAD THE WORD! Less than two months to go! I would love to see this pull a Matrix...looks like a 2014 version of LEXX!!
Ok people nobody lives on Jupiter in that movie. Nowhere in the trailer dies it say that the character played by Mila Kunis is 'the Princess of Jupiter' (I almost fell laughing when I read that comment). I think that mist of you really just have a limited amount of brain power to allocate to something as trivial as understanding what your looking at and listening to. The title is Jupiter Ascending cuz Mila Kunis's character is called Jupiter and ascending refers to her taking her rightful place in the Universe but also ascending from her insignificant life on Earth, a planet who's inhabitants aren't aware that they're are many civilized and advanced races out there so basically she ascends to a higher level, from ignorance to knowledge. As far as if its going to be any good well I stopped trusting the Wachowsky brother and sister to deliver solid sci fi. They did it once with the first Matrix and never could do it again. Science Fiction is one of the most difficult genre to do correctly. You can't just set a story in space or in the future and call it sci fi. First there needs to be a coherent and complete mythology in which the story will take place. There also needs to be some fundamental philosophical questions that are either directly tacked in the story or hinted at. As a avid sci fi fan and reader for the last 25 years I can say that of all the books and movies that call themselves sci fi maybe only 20% is really sci fi. Asimov achieved it with his Robot and Foundation Series, Frank Herbert achieve and redefined it with the Dune series. Aldous Huxley with A Brave New World, Philip José Farmer, Philip K Dick and Arthur C Clarke all wrote cladssic of the genre.
Was getting quite excited about going to see this film soon, and now what have they done?! Changed the release date till February of 2015!!! To say that I am annoyed is an understatement!
I found it ironic that Jupiter was falling just before the title came up. **Jupiter Ascending** ~ "No, she's not. She's descending - rather rapidly, I would assume." Anyway, this looks cool; I hope it's as good as it looks.
Anyone else getting some Fifth Element vibes? Such as the decision that even if it comletely sucks you will love it with your heart and soul no matter what?
Yes. Well said. I was trying to think of what was giving me the bad feeling about this and it's the action, yeah. It looks good... but has that little bit of fast and the furious about it which puts me off.
In fact its hard to find good movie after the Matrix trilogy nowadays. Alot of movies lack good unpredictable story like Wachowsky brothers did. I only regret, Keanu Reeves wont be in this movie. He should have been.
This movie was gorgeous! the three characters Balem, Kalique and Titus were stunningly played and crafted (Especially Balem one of the greatest bad guys we have ever seen.. very equal to the Star wars Emperor) but there was some problem with the interconnection of the scenes that made large parts of the film not understandable for some reason.. I didnt enjoy it as much in the cinema as I have by seeing again and again the blue ray... it is so detailed!! but one could not notice all those details in the cinema! not even the plot!!!
1. This looks rubbish 2. Mila Kunwhatever is a terrible actress, she cannot act. 3. The trailer gave away the entire plot and conclusion 4. Sean Bean will probably die...just saying.
I was really looking forward to this movie. I love sci-fi, and this looked awesome. Unfortunately, it's terrible. So full of stupid lines and nonsensical character actions... Great story, but put together on the screen, it's just bad.
Probably the worst and most ridiculous film I've ever seen. A complete mash-up of random cultural references, over-the-top characters, terrible acting, horrible way of storytelling. This movie seems to want to be taken seriously, but the dialogues and story are just ludicrous and unacceptably bad. Pure waste of time and money. I can't seem to fully grasp the absurdity and idiocy of this film in words.
I've seen this movie: James Cameron made it 30 years ago, and before that, Harlan Ellison wrote the source teleplay. Jeez, it was like watching Golan-Globus's "Terminator Elf."
I agree. Pitch Black was really good. However I just couldn't take TCOR seriously, with all the fine Shakespearean actors being proper thespians and then Mr. Diesel mush-mouthing his way through his scenes. I did enjoy some of the David-Lynch's-Dune-type art direction though.
peachmelba1000 Well Furians were just brutes. The only thing they knew was fighting and weaponry. If you watch the latest Riddick movie you learn that Furia was the hardest planet the Necromonger's ever conquered. Each Furian would take 100 Necros with them. I do agree they could have done a better job with Riddick's dialogue but nonetheless the movie shows a lot of potential and the costume design was down right awesome.
I've heard the sequel is gonna be even better: Uranus Descending
it's funny because Jupiter was descending at the end of the trailer
Didn't we do this already? A person living a normal life, finds out they are the chosen One. Except this time instead of being pulled out of a computer, they are being pulled into space.
"some lives will always matter more than others"
That line has me sold.
It doesn't look as good as I expected it to be, but just the fact that it's an completely original sci-fi movie makes me want to see it.

In one word - Fantasy.. Looks great ;)
Looks like the usual mind numbing 2 hour roller coaster ride summer action film.
***** meh.....The idea is great as usual, but the 2 leading actors are horrible :/ could have pulled better talent IMO
Somewhere in Hollywood, A Producer (Stoned Out of His Mind) Walks into a Warner Bros Meeting:
"*Woah* Hey, uh.....guys, so I got this idea for a movie, stay with me...Magic Mike is like a space warrior elf who is trained by 006, and he has to like...find Meg Griffin and protect her before it's too late..."
"Stop right there. It's Genius. Who do I make out the check to?"
spoiler alert: sean bean.
I smell a box office bomb.
I felt like I was watching Lexx in 2014. Needless to say, I'M SO IN. SO EPIC.
i love all the sci fi that they have been putting out lately
Channing Tatum, Mila Kunis Best film ever :D So going to watch this :3
Tatum: "JUPITER!"
Planet Jupiter: "Yes?"
I wonder how they convinced Sean Bean to do this
Normally, a movie with Mila Kunis and Chaning Tatum wouldn't excite me, but since it's being made by the Wachowski siblings, I can't wait.
I love how Wachowski's brings an anime elements to movies ;)
special effects wise one of the best I've seen really futuristic movie love it!!!
To watch a trailer of a movie which is coming out 7 months later is F**KED UP!
how many comments are there about sean bean dying?
This.............. looks......................awesome!
Great movie, outstanding special effects, good story line despite the critics, cant wait for their next creation.
wow. can't wait. the wachowskis don't seem to bother making films unless they're pushing boundaries. whether their own boundaries as artists, the boundaries of genre and their conventions, or the boundaries of filmmaking technique, their body of work is simply unparalleled.
It certainly is a CGI spectacle. Hopefully there is an actual story behind it.
I'm really jazzed about this one too. And I echo your sentiment about the story.
There is a apparently a true story behind it: The Allies of Humanity. alliesofhumanity.org/the-allies-of-humanity-revealing-the-extraterrestrial-intervention-and-teaching-humanity-about-life-in-the-universe/

"I'm sorry Mario, but your princess is on another planet"
Being a Pisces and Jupiter being one of my ruling planets, I'll definitely watch this!
I was watching thinking like oh Channing Tatum, meh... Mila Kunis, alriight and then I yelled SEAN BEAN !!
hopefully movies like this will wake up the masses to the fact that this is real
But who was The Matrix
This science fiction of 2013 is looking great
I pirated this movie and I feel like I deserve a refund.
I love how Sci-fi is coming back in games and movies. Destiny and No Man's Sky. New Star Wars, Godzilla, and now this.
Wow the Didacts war Sphinxes look amazing. And the lady looks like she is falling into the portal of the lesser ark.
This actually looks pretty awesome haven't been excited for a Channing tatum movie since 21 jump street
Wow...this looks like a good movie..I might actually go to the theater to see it..there's not alot of movies that I'd go to the theater to see..well,probably the new Hobbit movie :D
It doesn't spoil the movie, successful trailer!
If Bean doesn't die in this movie, it gets an automatic fail from me.
A new sci-fi universe. Sounds refreshing!
I don't mean to sound like a hater, but Channing Tatum ruins for me what seems like a really cool idea. I like him as a person, but I can't tolerate his "acting." Mila Kunis doesn't help, either.

This movie would be so much more awesome if they put unknown actors in it...
Jupiter Ascending, Mercury Rising, hahah very similar names ;)
Never was interested in sci-fi for the most part, but this looks like a decent watch. Never had a problem with the Wachowski siblings.
Was getting quite excited about going to see this film soon, and now what have they done?! Changed the release date till February of 2015!!! To say that I am annoyed is an understatement!
You know that Rome wasn't built in a day..
Because Mila got preggo.
I came for Mila Kunis, I stayed for the eyegasm
Who cares about the story ,I watched the movie just to see sean bean 's death scene .
Anybody else thinking that you'll watch this just because of Sean Bean? I sure hope he doesn't die in this one, he's a terrific actor!
Visually it looks amazing, but not sure how it will be in terms of story though
It's almost here! Just have to wait 7 more months...
*Getting in Line Now*
We desperately need more epic in our lives...
#JupiterAscending
I don't know what this is yet, but I want to see it.
I found it ironic that Jupiter was falling just before the title came up. **Jupiter Ascending** ~ "No, she's not. She's descending - rather rapidly, I would assume."
Anyway, this looks cool; I hope it's as good as it looks.
I want to watch this. And who the heck is Sean bean? I keep seeing his name in the comments. (Off to google)
hell for Mila Kunis I would be fearless, relentless and more.
Just if we could change the jupiter for uranus...
Holy Cow! This looks amazing!
And to think the idea of a trailer is to show off a movie to its best advantage...
Anyone else getting some Fifth Element vibes? Such as the decision that even if it comletely sucks you will love it with your heart and soul no matter what?
Sounded more promising on paper. Bit too action-heavy for me, may be good though. Sci-fi gods are always a fun theme.
Yes. Well said. I was trying to think of what was giving me the bad feeling about this and it's the action, yeah.
It looks good... but has that little bit of fast and the furious about it which puts me off.
Doesn't look too bad, probably watch it in theaters.
In fact its hard to find good movie after the Matrix trilogy nowadays. Alot of movies lack good unpredictable story like Wachowsky brothers did. I only regret, Keanu Reeves wont be in this movie. He should have been.
If Sean Beans in this you know exactly where he's gonna end up :X
Not bad, hope it doesn't suck like the second or third Matrix films..
Been a LONG time since a good "Weird Science" movie has come out.
''Your the perfect hunting machine''
Yeah i know, i sit here watch trailers all day...
1. This looks rubbish
2. Mila Kunwhatever is a terrible actress, she cannot act.
3. The trailer gave away the entire plot and conclusion
4. Sean Bean will probably die...just saying.
For a movie called Jupiter Ascending, Mila Kunis's Jupiter sure does a lot of falling.
Spoiler, Sean Bean dies.
Finally something like this
Channing Tatum.....Mila Kunis.......god kill me know. Wachowski's, I love ya, I really do but I suggest going back to the drawing board on this cast.
Now that movies have great FX compared to 20 years ago. I have enjoyed science-fiction much more. Star Wars was my introduction in 1978.
I was really looking forward to this movie. I love sci-fi, and this looked awesome. Unfortunately, it's terrible. So full of stupid lines and nonsensical character actions... Great story, but put together on the screen, it's just bad.
this is going to be epic sci fi film. yeah!
Does Mila Kunis get to do anything but be kidnapped and saved over and over because that is what I got from this trailer.
Channing Tatum with Elf tip ears, LOL. I guess it was only a matter of time.
I missed Ned.
I have no idea what this is about but looks cool enough.
Spoiler Alert: Sean Bean character dies
Raging Homosexual I get it. Bean always dies.
Fuck you false king
As usual :-)
Well I don't know who Sean Bean is, so i'm good!
Sean Bean a.k.a Boromir a.k.a Eddard Stark
Wow. Talk about obvious Soft Disclosure lol I love it!!
OMG is that Eddie Redmayne?
I'm confused...but I'll watch it.
Excuse me, are you talking about Foodfight?
Awesome visuals....
Im Still no sure bout Tatum being in action movies. He's a chic flick kind of guy
I am loving this movie
On second thought didn't really buy Mila Kunis as The Princess, only liked her in Black Swan. Sean Bean death jokes are way past their expiry date.
Personally. I don't mind these kind of movies . So if u know ur someone who likes these kind of movies then give it a go..
This might be a good film but i feel like itll flop :/
I agree. This will be like Speed Racer. The Matrix was an epic phenomenon but everything else they did just sucked.
bruh its definitely flopping. lol
I've seen this movie: James Cameron made it 30 years ago, and before that, Harlan Ellison wrote the source teleplay. Jeez, it was like watching Golan-Globus's "Terminator Elf."
Meh "The hero", the "bad guy" and the "damsel" again. paint it any color you want... same story
This gonna be awesome
O GAWD WHY CHANNING TATUM
and why channing tatum elf ears.. arghh
really? 3 comments and over 2 million views? i have lost faith in the sarcastic creativity of you people. For shame youtube. For shame
this has Chronicles of Riddick bad written all over it
I actually really liked Chronicles of Riddick. The only problem with it was that you had to watch all 3 Riddick movies to fully understand the plot.
I agree. Pitch Black was really good. However I just couldn't take TCOR seriously, with all the fine Shakespearean actors being proper thespians and then Mr. Diesel mush-mouthing his way through his scenes. I did enjoy some of the David-Lynch's-Dune-type art direction though.

Yeah, and a slight inkling of Spock from ST thrown in for good measure judging by Channings ears?
Considering the track record of the Wachowski Brothers (The Matrix and V for Vendetta), I might watch this.
It looks kinda like Game of Thrones in sci fi... and guess what's gonna happen to Sean Bean? ;)
Cool way of showing the truth about who runs humanity, classifying this movie as sci-fi
where is matrix 4 ? im waiting wachowski Brothers
Wachovskies will never make a movie like the first matrix, ever.
