two of the more playful things I liked is when they talked about both hating planes I feel that was brought up because Travis Barker doesn't fly since his plane crash in 2008. And the funniest scene was when the kid drummer said he was better than Travis Barker. It's so funny because that is his actual son Landon Barker. But great review.
Thanks for the kind words! I actually knew Travis Barker didn't fly, and the airplanes thing still somehow went totally unnoticed by me. I just didn't read into it, but it makes total sense. Thanks for pointing that out to me!
Me too, I wasn't as into him until this most recent album. He's a super divisive figure though. A lot of old pop punk folks feel he's a bit of a poser and opportunist, which is unfortunate, because I think he's really more a return-to-form for pop punk.
@@feigner374 Agree. I don't think he's a poser at all just a lover of music. Post Malone is the same way. He grew up on Nirvana, country, and rap and just enjoys it all. Nice video!
Good review! I really enjoyed that movie too But I think it could've been better with just a bit more dialogue, especially in the beginning. You don't have time to get attached to the character, you have no idea of who Sydney's character is except for the girlfriend part and I was kinda disappointed of that. Like, what does she enjoy outside the boyfriend you know. She's just there smiling and loving him and then she dies. Meh. Didn't had the chance to care. In my opinion it's a problem because the movie could've been more tragic if we had like 5min more of dialogue dispatched at several moments. Other than that, great film (ps I didn't know your channel I'm gonna check your other videos)
I think there are a lot of valid criticisms for the film. When you're making a film, you have to decide what the focus will be, and I get why they wanted to keep the focus on the music, and keep it tight, rather than make into a full 90 minute film or whatever. As is, the movie is about 13 minutes longer than the album. However, they also wanted to feature MGK prominently, which limits their ability to do a huge amount of visual storytelling the way some music videos do, like, for example, music videos by Rhye. In all, they made a 50 minute music video rather than a motion picture, and I can appreciate that decision. I wonder why more artists don't make music videos for their entire album.
Great review but I think Chase Hudson really hurt it because of his identity out of the movie. When I see his face all I can think of his just his stupid tik toks and I get he’s acting but to be honest it was mediocre acting. Just the way he delivered lines was stiff and you could tell he’s reading a script. Also another problem I had is the pacing like it goes way too fast. I know it would be hard to do a whole developed plot in the span of an album but it’s jarring sometimes. The album and meaning are great and I think deserved more time and a better cast. Sorry for this long comment my friends couldn’t care less about this so I needed to get it out
Hey, those are all really great points that I see, and considered discussing. I agree that Chase Hudson had quite a few stiff deliveries in the film. He clearly came off to me as being a rather unpolished actor, however, I used to be a professional actor myself, and so I'm never sure how much of those things other people pick up on. However, I also felt he crossed the line of "good enough", even though his performances weren't perfect. Also, Sydney & the guy who plays Jimmy did phenomenal jobs. Clearly professionals. As for the pacing, I agree, it does go fast, but they had time constraints mostly due to the length of the album. I was a bit surprised to see it was 50 minutes long when it dropped, but also, I appreciate that they kept it tight and kept it about the music, rather than just having like 10 minute stretches without playing a song.
the thing about a better cast is one thing that I think isn't valid. Now if this was sold to Netflix or Hulu I'm sure they could pay for actual actors but this is only shot for free streaming to drum up more interest in his new album. It's a low-budget film paid for by a record label, not a movie studio. So they aimed for a solid storyline and seamless song integration. This isn't going to win any movie awards but the teen influencers will get more teens checking this out.

@@feigner374 yup np. Nothing is just that random like do you like planes. This whole thing is a masterpiece.
His new album has some catchy songs. I much prefer his newer 'pop punk' stuff over his rap stuff.
