I understand that Finland only sells Xylitol gum. They’ve been doing it for decades. From the NIH: The preventive, and partly the remineralizing, effect of xylitol was shown in Finland in the Turku Sugar Studies in 1971-73. Since then, several clinical trials in many countries have confirmed these results. In Finland, oral health personnel have recommended daily use of xylitol chewing gum in their dental health education.

I have been using xylitol mints for 6 months. I have not had and side effects. It has made my teeth smooth and my cavity it almost gone, the chip in that tooth is visible smaller. It is worth trying! I have 6 month check up next week, can't wait to ask why they never told me this was possible.

How does it affect the bacteria on your tongue that produce nitric oxide? Positive, neutral or negative? We need that colony of bacteria to maintain healthy blood pressure.

I was with you until you starting haranguing on sugar. Sugar is not bad for you; too much sugar is bad for. But, that applies to everything, including water. Remember, there is survival value to pleasure. A world without sweetness is not a world I care to live in.
