Thank you for the conversation and always for the information. The average dentist looks for problems, but more so to get paid, rather than educate and how to prevent, and talk to you. I wish I could afford to go to a functional dentist, its just not affordable for me and for the average american. I have to go in telling my current dentist what I will and will not allow, as far as no floride, etc. But there is a limit to what a lay person can ask for when it comes to whats going on on a deeper level, IE: root canals of which I have many, crowns etc.. I have learned so much from your channel and chnged so much to help my microbiome, thank you Dr. B

I would love to hear opinions on dental xrays. I am 69 with great teeth and gums. I have two fillings from when I was a kid...no other dental issues since. I typically go to the dentist every 6 months just for a checkup and cleanings. Based upon my history I do not want xrays very often, yet I have to constantly fight with dentists who want me to get them at least once a year, preferably every 6 months. I am now on the carnivore diet and I am not getting any plaque on my teeth at all. I feel like quitting dental checkups because I don’t want the xray fight. I have had one dentist dismiss me as a patient for refusing to get xrays more than every 3 years. I do not eat the crappy diet 90 percent of Americans eat so I feel I need to be treated differently.

Good luck. You're lucky to have good oral health. I find most dentists to be outrageously expensive and very untrustworthy. Hard to find one that's not in it for the money. I've eaten keto for years and now am trying carnivore but I still have bad problems with plaque.

@jaycarver4886 I was keto for awhile too. It did not resolve any of my issues. At first I did develop a bit of plaque on carnivore but I don’t any longer. Good luck. Kevin Stock has a good video about carnivore and dental calculus.

I have a broken back tooth. It doesn’t hurt unless I poke it. I need to get it fixed but the dentist wants to use ceramic crowns and composite restorations. I think porcelain or ceramic is best but how much is that going to cost? Can I just get it filled with ceramic? We don’t have any natural minded dentist here. If I know exactly what to ask for first choice and second best then maybe I can find a dentist that will do what I ask. I need to be informed but it’s hard to find the best info.

The book "kiss your dentist goodby" is by Dr Ellie Phillips , 40+ years experience as a dentist and active in educating patients. I'm following her and Dr B . Earlier you laughed at misinformation from non credentialed sources. Then you laugh at information from highly credentialed sources. Dr Ellie discusses all the modern topics such as micro biome , Hydroxyapatite a d so forth yet she has very different views to Dr B on mouthwash (certain types) and flossing (she is against it ). I'm not saying who I favor but like all aspects of medicine there are opposing opinions.

I thought the same! Dr Ellie was a pioneer in what these 2 gentlemen are talking about. She explains everything based on science and personal experience.

Dr. Burhenne, are you considered a naturopathic or alternative dentist? It's a serious question 😊

I just had three upper front teeth extracted and it was very very painful. The dentist told me that because the whole area was inflamed, the local anesthesia didn't really work and that's why it was so painful. 4 more upper front teeth have to be extracted in one go. Also in a very inflamed area. What can I do to reduce the inflammation in order to have a less painful extraction?

Canada is a hard place to find/be a good honest dentist. The market is oversaturated with huge overhead costs.
