Hi GreatScots from Bill in Scotland. Nice vid, been playing now since early release and enjoying the game. Have just recently got in to Cavalry as I was not managing as I would infantry and artillery and they became early fodder for what ever I was playing against. As you are here, been taking more of the management and control as I'm assigning a good commander to Marshall the brigades. Getting more bang for my buck that way. Still keep one small brigade attached to me so I can use them to control entry points and exit points. But use the big brigades strategically in battle. You gave me some tips on building coverage I was not aware of. Happy Holidays. Bill
Thank you for making these videos. As you know, the game is massive. This makes learning how to use it a challenge. While I have my own mental complications, I am a highly educated person and find much of this game’s processes far less than Intuitive. I recently bought the game, and find following the ingame tutorial, your videos, as well as other people’s videos to be difficult because there’s seldom detailed information on where things are being selected. The ingame tutorial often references the NATO symbol, yet there are variety of NATO symbols in the world and their instruction pop-up rarely shows an image of what the thing to select looks like. In this content, at about 1 minute 20 some seconds, you start with deployment and your mouse simply appears out of nowhere at the same time that the screen image changes. I have no idea what you did to make the change occur. A simpleton game mechanics video would be very helpful. Such a video would be helpful if relatively short and focus step by step game mechanics. So many of the TH-cam videos on this game are 30+ minutes. Typically, what a player needs in order to achieve “X” involves long periods of extraneous info to finally hit that sought after piece of information.
I’ve watched that section 3 times and I cannot see what you mean. 01:20 and the times around it my mouse is always on the screen. The screen change has to do with how I recorded it. I recorded this in blocks and then put them together. I have learned the hard way this is the best way to make short(er) tutorials while minimizing editing times. I don’t think there was anything around that time in the video you missed. The long vs. short tutorials is a conundrum and no matter what one does, there are trade offs. This game has so much to it that short tutorials could lead to well over 50, which leads people to complain that they don’t like having to have to locate each video and they want everything in one place. I have made quick tips videos that try to condense things down to their most important, but come at the cost of explanation. The best compromise I’ve figured is to vary long and short(er) tutorials and try to include chapter markers to allow folks to find what they’re looking for.
Here's something that happens to me all the time, I'm shifting units around, getting commanders closer to their units, and I want to get my army commander to move alone, IE left-Alt+RMB...but, sometimes the alt doesn't register or whatever, and all my plans get blown up because my ENTIRE army now has army level deployment positions. You don't realize it until you've hit the RMB...and see the outline of the deployment. It can't be cancelled. I've tried to "ESC out", doesn't work... ALT-CTL-DEL, doesn't work... I've tried manual shutdown of my computer, doesn't work. What I end up doing is hit pause, stop army movement and hopefully not too much was screwed up. So, the question is? Is there a cancel movement order. And it's not spacebar, that doesn't work once RMB has been activated. Thanks in advance. ;-) All the best. Cheers.
If the order has gone thru (the circle thing runs its course) then the only fix I know is the one you mentioned: click the stop movement order and hope not too much has been moved.

Hi, Bill. Hope all is well across the pond. Yes, same here. I'm glad there were some useful tips here for a veteran of this game like yourself.
The regimnet on the right is larger and has a longer line which makes the arc of fire bigger.

@ OK, thanks for your detailed reply. I will forge on. I have a disability that makes concentrating painful, so lots of detail is difficult to juggle.
A great thank you for the video. Hope to see orhers in the next weeks
Yeah, I think I'll try to make the next one about cover and stances.
Excellent video

Nice video. BTW, abatis is a French word, pronounced Ah-bah-tee. Keep up the good work.
