Set was mentioned in one episode of the show Samurai Jack. While Set himself doesn’t make an appearance he has 3 minions in the show with heads that resemble his ambiguous beast head. They were imprisoned by the other gods until Aku released them to destroy Jack. Interestingly they couldn’t be destroyed by Jack’s sword, even though it was forged by gods from the different pantheons of the Earth, including the Egyptian sun god Ra. The only way Jack could defeat them was to assemble a golden scarab, which would summon Ra when assembled.

Egyptian mythology was my first one. At least, it is the first that I remember being charmed by, reading books and books about it. I love it. Thank you so much for the episode. You can certainly explore more in depth the thematic of the combat, why not?

In fact, the plot of Disney's Lion King (1994) was actually derived from the Osiris myth of ancient Egypt (Osiris as Mufasa, Seth as Scar, and Horus as Simba).

Set is much much more important when it comes to understanding similar figures and stories in Mediterranean. He was synchronized with Typhoon by the Greeks. Early Christians were said to worship a donkey headed God which is almost certainly a propaganda by Egyptians. This donkey headed God is a syncretism between Set, Baal, Yahweh and Jesus which later lead to Abraxas and Demiurge.

  • @silver_phoenix_rising2553

I can totally see Set's animal as a Wild Dog considering the reputation given to dogs in the Middle East (they were seen as dirty, vile, and greedy). I can also see it as an Aardvark. Back then people would've looked at one of those and thought 'what the heck is THAT?!' and avoided it... seeing it as another representative of the desert.
Personally, I feel a Wild Ass could fit into the role quite nicely as well considering they are viewed as untamable and violent.
A Hyena works just as perfectly 😁
The contendings of Set and Horus are interesting... funny in some moments, disgusting in one particular instant.
    It's worth a video 😀

Set has to be one of the most fine chaotic evil gods out their. Unlike others like Hades who's usally good compared to his other philanderous brothers, Poseidon and Zeus or Anubis who isn't truly evil but rather a god with a morbid background.
But Set on the other hand is just plain downright devious and evil. Their is no misunderstanding or morbid background... nope, just pure chaotic evil.. Set is a fine god, no cap

About 13,000 years ago at the beginning of the Age of Leo, the Anunnaki came here from Nibiru. Cain murdered his half-brother Abel (fratricide), and Abel was replaced in Abel's likeness by Set (Seth, Saturn, Satan). Set and Abel were sons of Eve and the snake man (the dragon man). Cain was the offspring of Eve and Adam. Adam's first wife was Lilith. The bloodline of Set became the bloodline of Baal, Count Dracula, the House of Windsor, and the Hatfield's of West Virginia, USA. In the 1960s, the top of the bloodline of Set came to my hometown (Albany, Oregon) using the surname Bailey.

I too agree with the notion that many such stories might be hazy memories of real events. The long fight between Horace and Set might be describing a dark age in their history, where Egypt was suffering war and chaotic weather, among other disasters.
The Egyptians living afterwards are unsure what exactly occurred, and being committed to their religion so strongly they were quick to attribute major events to the Gods. But they vaguely know SOMETHING big happened in the past, much like how Greece recalled Troy in its mythology.

Apophis is the true evil of the Egyptian mythology. Set never became a villain until the hyksos conquered Egyptians and it took a century or so to throw them out. And in that time Set became a villain. Ra became old and senile. Horus became popular and set became a villain. Although not everywhere. It varied from city to city. There isn’t really Egyptian mythology. There is memphite mythology, theban mythology, etc. and variation by time periods.
