    Don't use leak sealer. It makes things worse by clogging up the tiny passages in your ac system. Sure it will clogg the leaking but also clogged other areas like the condenser and evaporator and especially the inline filter. Use tiny amount of dye or learn how to find leaks. Also, they make a leak detector so finding where the leak is a land replacing the o-ring will be the optimal thing to do. I just did my whole ac system and seals. Less than 600 for everything on my older 2000s car.

    The AC system is a sealed/closed loop. If you are low on refrigerant you have a leak. Have a repair facility put dye in it to find the leak and fix it the right way the first time before major components get damaged. You’ll save $$ in the long run. Remember, “the cheap man pays twice.”

    • @michaelbaysdell6797
      @michaelbaysdell6797 11 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Depends. If the dealer wants $500 to investigate and seal the leak, the refrigerant has taken years to leak out to where you notice it, and you plan on selling the car in six months when it hits the engine warranty limit, you're honestly better off topping the refrigerant off for this summer and calling it a day.

    • @edocms
      @edocms 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That's a common myth. Sealed system still leaks. That's why a car needs refill after said 10 years. Check your users' manual, it even tells you that refrigerant will leak faster if you don't use your car for a long period of time.

      A quick way to check if it’s a control problem is to see if your AC compressor clutch is engaging/disengaging. Have someone turn on/off the AC and look if the clutch cycles. Keep in mind that low refrigerant can still cause the clutch to not engage. If the clutch does engage then you know the control circuit (relays, fuses, switches) are good.

    I had a hell of a time finding the low side charge port. It was easy to reach, but way up under a ledge in front of the firewall. I bought the car new, 15 years ago. I had to replace a thermostat last year and brakes a couple of years ago. And when I drove from Minnesota to Texas yesterday, the AC was not working. So I popped into Walmart and bought a $50 can of refrigerant. This morning in the parking lot of my hotel, I added the can to the car. It blows cold AF. That is the extent of the repairs on this car, amazing. It's a 2008 Chrysler Town and Country Limited with the 4.0.

    If you mix these refrigerants your refrigerant is now contaminated it’s gonna be about $600-$700 just to recover and dispose of the contaminated refrigerant. The recovery machine’s dryer filters must also be replaced after recovering the refrigerant and the contaminated refrigerant has to be taken to a special recycling facility. Lesson is don’t mix two refrigerants

      A cabin filter won’t affect temperature of your AC. It’s likely that your ambient air temperatures are higher which will affect the cooling of your AC. A quick tip is to purchase a cheap thermometer and leave it in your AC vent to see how well your system is doing. Rule of thumb is to subtract 30 Degrees Fahrenheit from ambient temperatures.

I have been a auto tech for 30+ years and Refrigerant doesn't evaporate so if your low there is a leak and it needs to be fixed and if the owner of the vehicle tries to fix it they have to make sure to put the right amount of Refrigerant in other wise they will damage the A/C pump so unless they know what they are doing they should just take it to someone who knows what they are doing and not waste there money on the Refrigerant that is just going to leak out anyways

      It’s generally fairly expensive and time consuming if you do it yourself. On certain vehicles you will get worse performance using the original compressor with r-134a even with new oil, seals, and refrigerant. Just got a refill of r-12 at 40oz for $150 with labor.

    🛑Never buy these refrigerant cans🛑 why? Because they contain sealant which hardens and turns into concrete when it contacts moisture and air. Yes it does work but it wont work next summer and you'll have to replace your ac system because there is sealant in the system, no shop will want to help you because the sealant will damage their ac machines. My professor has seen this way too many times and urges everyone NOT to use these and instead get it done professionally. Sorry to be that one annoying guy👎👎👎 hope everyone has a lovely day🫵👍💯

    Im working in a car shop, specifically for AC systems and sometimes, if the client doesn't have enough money, we tell him that we can pit the old refrigerant in his 1234yf freon. It doesn't hurt the system and works perfectly fine.
    On some new cars you can even read on the compressor that it needs R134A
    For the several years we have done this, no one has ever complained of a ruined AC system.

      134a was not ozone depleting but had a high global warming potential. New refrigerants like 1234yf have a very low GWP. With every new generation of refrigerant performance is sacrificed for a cleaner alternative. Ammonia is one of the best performing refrigerants but it was discontinued and replaced with r12 and other cfc refrigerants because its super toxic.
