    Use Muriatic Acid to clean off the Calcite. Works faster than Vinegar.
    You can get it in the Paint dept. at your local Hardware store

    I live in Snohomish and am unable to hike anymore because my legs are a bit wonky, but your videos take me where I can't go anymore. Plus you guys have so much enthusiasm about your finds it's just plain fun to watch. :-)

    That looks like the area I dug at last spring up there. Great stuff. Found a few limb segments about a foot long / 4" across around there! Great scores!

    Hey, do you got a fb? Also, I'm going to saddle on Sunday if you wanna meet up? Hoping to find more fire opal at my spot up there.
    Also, I love how you and your son work together and do so well getting material. Your dialogue when your dig is fun to listen to when you're digging. Whether it's for pet wood, crystals at crystal park, or wherever. It gets me in the rockhounding mood! Lol

      Just find a deep hole or dig deep yourself in an area adjacent to other holes to get into the earthy diatomaceous white powdery layer and you should do well.

    Interesting geology out there for sure. Neat how theres just a layer of basalt covering up a petrified forest!!! Love the rotten chunk that petrified, its easy to tell that your correct on that observation. Nice little log cross section at 23:16, you gotta polish that one too! Thanks for sharing guys. Love it.

    Nice job, I love digging in that soft layer that is like a brush pile. Hint at cleaning...Screw a plastic milk crate to a 3' square piece of plywood, put a bottomfull of pieces in the milk crate and then pressure wash them. The milk crate keeps them in place while the spray moves them around to get all sides and the plywood keeps the spray from eating away the ground under the crate. Makes short work of a lot of material.

    Wow awesome finds , saddle mountain gotta look at my maps and find this place if you don’t mind , is the soft layer of that whitish color dirt volcanic ash, they clean up really awesome, thank you for sharing 😊💙

    • @vugmeister918
      @vugmeister918  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The texture and consistency of the “ash” layer is very similar to the diatomaceous earth that is mined from open pits further north towards George. I believe that’s what it is. It is sandwiched between the Roza and Priest Rapids basalt flows.
