Crystals of the Middle Fork Snoqualmie River, King County Washington
Under the sponsorship of @Crystalholics Anonymous, we recently had the opportunity to dig on one of his private claims up the middle fork Snoqualmie River. For us, it was a memorable experience we will never forget!
If you’re interested in any of the specimens from Washington State’s King County Middle Fork region

Collecting Picrolite
มุมมอง 4954 หลายเดือนก่อน
Picrolite from Snohomish County. We initially thought this to be an asbestos mineral. The geologist that wrote about this occurrence also thought the same until lab results proved otherwise. Its appearance looks like Chrysotile, but it's not.

Large Barite Crystals Found In Southern California
มุมมอง 3299 หลายเดือนก่อน
Countless numbers of prospect pits and trenches are present near Barstow and the Calico Mountains. I happened to scramble down into one of these pits and discover a significant amount of larger Baryte crystals. Many of these were cleaved however. Barite is a heavy yet soft mineral (Moh’s scale 3-3.5) and has a brittle tenacity. Extracting higher grade specimens from this pocket was challenging.

The wind was super strong when shooting this video. Best viewed with the volume off. Scenes of Kīlauea Crater, steam vents, Sulphur crystals, and lava tree casts. The observatory was closed due the damage it sustained during the 2018 eruption.

Replacing a Broken Drive Motor In An Old Obsolete (Gem King) Lapidary Saw
มุมมอง 377ปีที่แล้ว
6-7-2023. This video documents what I had to go through to replace the original drive motor from an obsolete lapidary saw with a new motor. I had to perform some reaming, tapping, and soldering to install the new motor on this old machine. Their are alternatives to these operations however and I do mention them. These are the challenges we face when trying to keep our vintage machines in operat...

Outcrop with Quartz and Agate Veins in King County WA
มุมมอง 1.2Kปีที่แล้ว
When exploring different and unfamiliar areas, it’s always good to fall back on the basics; road cuts, outcrops, veins, quarries, mines, dikes, and contacts. In this case, it was an outcrop with exposed quartz veins, with clues that someone was here before us.

Pretty sure ive been in that creek. Weyerhaeuser land
Pack a squirt bottle guys😊
I think it's awesome that you and your son hunt gems together bless you both your inspiration is priceless.
Your son found everything good!
Great finds!
I am always in awe of a parent that shares a cherished hobby with their child. I just think that the connection that you have with your son is beautiful and will affect him positively throughout his life.
@@debralewis6437 I’m lucky he has an interest in rock and mineral collecting!
You would have had access to public lands if you had voted for Sue Pederson...
No need for negativity here
@ 15:53 look at the top left ,in the distance above the on hill, in the tree line , you can see a person or bigfoot walking across from tree to tree.
@@deangoddley2061 I see what you’re seeing. Really good catch and I have no explanation on what that is.
love seeing the kids getting involved! Here in oregon we have lots of quarry spots but most are on Weyerhaeuser owned land and it is illegal to rockhound the millions of acres they own. it should be a crime to own that much land and do that
@@XconradsmusicX They charge a fee for access to their private land and rockhounding is the only hobby not allowed. It’s unfortunate but at the same time I can understand why. If I was a tree farmer I’d be absolutely pissed if someone dug up a young newly planted tree and removed it just to find a few rocks.
Y’all found some beautiful ones!!!!!!! I love the orange and reds!
All that carbonized wood is petrified burnt wood from forest fires millions of years ago
Would you tumble these or cut them??😁
@@kathleencampbell1394 big ones are cut on a lapidary saw. Small ones are tumbled.

Father-son outing, magic.
Is this like Hansen creek area?
I live in Lewis county next to the Chehalis river and the argots are huge! Like cantaloupe sized bolder argots! Petrified wood too! I have a couple buckets full of argot I wanted to make them into something but not sure what to make with them yet. Something with leds that light up. What do you guys do with yours? Do you cut them or anything?
Love this , nice to see a Dad spending time with his son ❤.. I use to do this on the beaches with my girls !
I love the respect you show your son by asking his opinions and accepting his answers. Special relationship you 2 have.
Hey! Thanks for the advice and insight while my partner and I were out at The Gulch the other day! She kept telling me, "Vug Meister says it's Chrysocolla! Vug Meister says it's Hematite!" We love the adventure, but don't know minerals so well. You were a big help and we appreciate you!
Didn't find my spot I used to get phantom septers and dumbells silver, gold and malachite inclusions fields of septers pretty close though
2:27 "he just doesn't want to touch the ants"
Anywhere people who don't have a claim can go?
Definitely not the middle fork but i wouldn’t give up the location either. Also good luck selling that for a thousand bux😂 i could see a hundred or so.. cool spot though!
Taylor River😊
No, not talking about specimen prices. When I edited the video, I cut out the beginning of the conversation. Re-play it, listen carefully, and then you’ll know what was said. 😉
Big dog over here acting like he knows what he's talking about. I guess fake it till ya make it. 😂
We are local to the area. We live in the Snoqualmie valley. Girlfriend and I Would definitely like to link up with you sometime and go on a Washington State rock trip!
Ever thought of using a brush.
I actually have one, I was just caught up in the moment and forgot about it.
That a great experience to have.
It was! Next time I’ll have to describe more of the local geology of this area. Unfortunately this was a last minute “plan B” decision to go here and I didn’t have time to brush up on the historical literature for this area.
Oh my goodness, those crystals turned out gorgeous. 🙂
That stuff is bizarre. Man that area is so muddy! I gotta do some research on it now. Great finds guys 👍
Nothing like hunting on the side of a super dangerous exposure! The thrill of finding crystals AND not dying!! 💎 🎉 😂
I’ll admit, Aidan is the smartest one.
@vugmeister918 i dont know if that's smarter or just fear of falling/heights/rockfalls. The rockhound that takes more risks finds better stuff, but risks injury/death in doing so.
@@mitchgillilan Fear is opposite of confidence. Everyone has different confidence levels. Not pushing one’s self past their confidence level is smart. I knew of a mineral collector that died last year. So yes, it’s dangerous. In hindsight, For safety, I should have been wearing a harness, attached to a rope. Next time..
I just saw this video after I asked if you were going to keep making these videos. Thank you.
I'm surprised these don't have more views. It seems you need to find a buddy to act as your gay partner to get any traction on TH-cam. Something... These are the best crystal videos I've seen so far. Thank you for the time you took to create them. Are you going to make more videos?
Long time no see 👍
Love those specimens displayed with the garden flowers in background.
My wife planted those😊
Hope you guys had a good time!
We really did, and we’re looking forward to our next outing to a different claim.
This is very good video. I really like it! But the place that you collecting gemstones is very dirty like as some kind of place for pee pee or poo poo. But those gemstones are real, I know it. Thank you for such good video.😊😊
Excelente busca por ágatas sucesso pra vocês 👍
The pieces you found are really nice! I can’t believe there are so many out there. Thank you for doing the video and sharing.
You guys need to bring a flat blade screwdriver with you to pry those things out
But a rake serves a dual purpose with no need to carry an extra screwdriver. A rake is handy for combing through stream bed gravel (when allowed in accordance with gold pamphlet rules), and as shown in the video, for prying loose the agates that are stuck in a road bed. Cant comb through stream-bed gravel with a screwdriver. Really the only situation I carry a screwdriver is when I anticipate prying crystal plates loose from a cavity or vug in the mountains.
Those diggers don’t have much respect for the land, do they?
Neat looking stuff, I think you might have helped me identify a piece that I have 👍✌️
Very interesting. Does the rock in the upper left corner have the fossil of a flat snail shell imprinted on it? 3:12
Not sure
Looks like satans home :)
Local Washington West side rockhound here. Why would you want to find asbestos crystals or are you looking for something other than that?
Oh it's a form of serpentine from what minedat says. That's cool I knew darington is famous for green rock ;)
We were actually looking for something else. Jade is one example of something occurring in this area. This happened to be an unusual and different collecting experience for us, other than the typical videos of someone collecting, let's say, a bunch of quartz crystals.
@@vugmeister918 yup there's jade in them hills I enjoy your vids brother I am a lapidary enthusiastic that collects my own rock to cab and slab. I think I love slabbing rock even more than cabbing. Got plenty of spare machines and saws / tumblers if your ever looking. Your boy done grew up since you started this TH-cam thing it's really quite remarkable I went hounding with my dad in the 90s and 2000s so I kinda love that you two go out!
Good ones !

My first time watching and I subscribed! Very cool video! Thanks so much for sharing this!😊😊😊😊😊😊
Hoooly cow! I wish I even knew what to look for to find this stuff!
Wow, I would love to get out there, so nice! It's so wonderful to see you two out doing that together, you have a beautiful relationship ❤
This is my first time watching you all, but I am thrilled that you are taking your son along and teaching him how to find beautiful stones! What our country needs more than anything these days is strong fathers! So I'm delighted to see this. I've never seen carnelian that red before! Gorgeous! Too bad I don't live anywhere near you guys, picking carnelian up off a roadway? Even an old lady like me could do that! That creek was lovely! And yes, I subscribed! Hugs from Virginia!
